(Page 4)

So I get an email on my BB today at about 4:10 this afternoon...nothing out of the ordinary...about 20 minutes later I glance at my Outlook and have about 3 new emails that haven't gone through my handheld...I'm like WTF, I look at my BES server, the internet tests all pass (indicating BES should be working) and I know my Exchange Server is working since I've gotten new Outlook emails...I restart the BES and still don't get emails on my phone...I'm confused...I have to bounce to the Bobcats game so I figure I'll VPN in later and try some shit...emails start coming through about 8 or 9 oclock...anyway long story short, there was a nationwide outage this afternoon, so I wasn't completely stupid

well according to that article, all carriers were affected but all my emails eventually came through, just not immediately

it was just a window from about 4:30 pm to maybe 8pm when nothing came through...also I was getting really really slow BB Messenger results (D=delivered, R=read, etc) and I wasnt able to pull up simple websites on the browser

you might not have been affected much, but I'm always glad to read about something like this because I was completely clueless as to why emails werent working and apparently it was out of my control

What's your take on the youtube issue I raised on the last page?

Any particular issues to check regarding the usage of yt on an T-Mobile 8320 using the standard blackberry browser with Audio Boost turned off?

Maybe because Tmobile's edge network is too slow to handle it?

here's a tip for some of the IT guys

if you're offsite from wherever your BES Server is and notice its down and you're going to VPN and then RDC in to restart the BES server, DO NOT login the RDC as your BSAdmin account...that will probably reload all the Startup menu items as well as possibly the registry '...Current Version\Run' items, effectively bluescreening your BES server and FORCING a manual reset

instead RDC in as local machine\Administrator...you should be able to do that and actually login and then restart the machine

"Nextel To Get New Wi-Fi / iDen BlackBerry Later This Year

[BlackBerry 7100i] Are you one of those Nextel BlackBerry users who refuse to switch over to the Sprint side of the house or over to a reputable wireless company who actually has come out with new BlackBerrys in the passed 3 or 4 years? Well, if you are, we may have news for your ears.

This past Tuesday at CITA Sprint CEO Dan Hesse announced that they are coming out with a new Wi-Fi enabled, iDen BlackBerry on the Nextel network later this year. I must have missed this earlier in the week, however, it may be just a little bit too late for this to have much impact.

I know that a lot of Nextel BlackBerry users waited as long as they could for a new iDen device to come out, however, it has been 3 years since the BlackBerry 7100i came out and around 5 since the BlackBerry 7520 came out.

Just think, since the BlackBerry 7100i came out, GSM and CDMA carriers have had the BlackBerry 8700, BlackBerry Pearl, the BlackBerry 8800, and the BlackBerry Curve devices come out in various configurations. Sprint has been saying for years that they weren’t going to come out with another Nextel BlackBerry and finally convinced their remaining BlackBerry users to switch.

The problem is that those Nextel BlackBerry users didn’t switch to Sprint. They switched to AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. I guess that with all the trouble that Sprint/Nextel is having that they need to get those 37 remaining 7100i users some new gear for fear of losing them to another telecom as well.

I wish instead of wi-fi they would put CDMA/EVDO data on it. I mean anywhere that has Wi-Fi odds are you have acess to a computer. I want to be able to post on TWW while riding down the road.

BES 4.1.5 was installed a few weeks ago. I like it so far. Haven't been able to use the enhanced features that come for OS 4.5, but the Force Calendar Reconciliation has been a great feature to use lately.

So everyone in the company got a new 8310 because at&T was handing out refurbs for free. So I set them all up in BES and everything is working great, execept no one is getting the enterprise messenger client. It worked fine on th 8600s and 8800s we had before.

Long story short, it was becaue the BES server had no idea what the 8310s were and wouldn't put the software on them when it did the requird apps check.

The solution is to go into the common files\rim folder and replace the apploader directory with the one from the latest desktop software release. This contains the new hardware ID info. Reindex the apps like normal and the BES server should push out the software the next time it does its check cycle. Beats installing a new version of BES.

Blackberry does need a flip phone.

I don't know if I would ever go back to having a SureType keypad though.

is there a way on the pearl that i can change the rankings of premade words?

like, I've and Ice are the same keystrokes, but ice is the default.

the other big one for me is duck and fuck

i get drunk and say "ducking" a lot in texts.

I'm using Google as a pop email account (not the gmail app, which I do have, but only use if I'm desperate) and it always sends me copies of sent mail that I've composed from Outlook... I know it's because of how Gmail keeps all emails grouped together... but is there anyway to not get the sent messages reconciled on the blackberry when I'm sending from Outlook?

Let me know if I need to clarify the above ramblings...

Log into Gmail, then go to Settings/Filters/Create new filter and add your Gmail address in the From: field. Have Gmail skip inbox and delete email. $ profit $

if it's through BIS, you're better off adding a filter where mail from your address doesn't get forwarded to your blackberry

otherwise, you'll be deleting your sent mail

i think if you just keep using them it will fix itself

i would often start BB Messenger messages with 'Yo' and then when I wanted to type 'to' it would default to 'yo' but I think it fixed itself...now I just start with 'sup'

and yeah I've / Ice is one I'm also familiar with...or names like Dan and Dave will come up as Fan and Face

I have a few of my email accounts going to my BB...however, my main 2 I can't because of the amount of spam. Now I've got filters running on my Thunderbird app, but this doesn't really help my BB situation... so then I thought about it and decided to make a rule that after all the other rules/filters were applied, Thunderbird automatically forwarded a copy to a newly created vzbb address.... only problem is that this means my computer physically needs to be on the Thunderbird APP running..... So....that doesn't really solve anything... How do I get around this?
