We either trade Babchuk and get some value out of him, or he just bolts to Europe on his own and we get nothing

It has nothing to do with his play; he doesn't want to be here.

and the whole 'not reporting to Albany' thing probably didn't help his case much either.

Bye babs.

I wish we could resign Walker

It also said in that n&O article that walker would not leave for the same amount of money from another team. It seems that he wants around 3 and we are offering around 2.1 I dont think that he is going to pack up his life at this stage of his career over 200k. So he is definatly not lost.

there's no way any team will give up a 2nd round pick for babchuk.

Do we really need Wesley though? Shouldn't we play our younger D-men like Babchuk and Hutchinson?

No, you're right, we don't need veteran leadership.

He plays 15 minutes a night, never makes a mistake, and is consistently a team leader in +/-.

Yes, we need him.

i am amazed by the number of people who think old = useless

like, not even paying attention to the stats or play

Chuck Kaiton
John Forslund
Tripp Tracy

Vasciek is GONE... again

And Tanabe most likely is as well

Quote :
"The Canes won't attempt to re-sign Josef Vasicek, general manager Jim Rutherford said Wednesday, preferring to look to the free-agent market for a new third-line center.

No surprise there. Vasicek didn't produce upon his return from the Nashville Predators in February — perpetuating the void left by Matt Cullen's departure last summer.

In other news, Rutherford wouldn't rule out an offer to David Tanabe, but said it's unlikely, as the Canes appear content with the eight defensemen they have under contract already.

Bret Hedican, meanwhile, met with hip specialist Marc Philippon in Vail, Colo., and the Canes expect a report from trainer Pete Friesen, who attended the examination, on Thursday"

Aww, and I was just getting comfortable with Davi (he earned back the first D) playing 15 minutes a game.

OH WELL

The hurricanes are probably going to go after someone like Michael Peca, Todd White or Ruslan Fedetenko

I would believe it be Peca too.

Where's Roddy's Mcfarlen figure? I mean hoisting the Cup would make a badass figurine.

I too was getting used to snuggles playing pretty good hockey 70% of the time. However, i'm fucking thrilled to see Josef "I look like I have downs" Vasicek go. That guy can't cut it when the game involves any sort of speed.

This is incredibly bizarre to me but also incredibly awesome (unless you believe there is a curse with the EA NHL series)

I'm surprised, considering his dip last season. I think my favorite was toothless Heatley.

Yeah and that one didn't last long. They replaced him with Sakic after the car accident.

This is definitely the strangest choice since Owen Nolan.

He had the best acceptance speech of the night, too.

He said he wanted the Cup back, he thanked his "teammates who are great players, as Ray Whitney won't ever let me hear the end of it if I don't say that," and he said "while I'm in the back, will someone please explain to my son why I can't buy him an Ovechkin jersey to wear at home games."

Scott Walker will be back

3 years/7.5 mil per TSN.

Thats right at the limit of what I wanted to see us pay, but I think he is worth it. One hell of a presence on the ice.
