going wheelchair shopping tomorrow, w00t. they gave me the option of getting an electric one which would be awesome, but then a rack to carry it and crap would have to be put on a car so i think i'll just go manual.
11/21/2006 3:27:52 PM
get one of those ones with racing cycling tires
11/21/2006 3:38:06 PM

11/21/2006 4:13:36 PM
there was a free weelchair sitting behind chamberlain. next to it a cardboard "homeless" sign. i'm dead serious. no sign of the nig though, i think he walked off to packs bazaar to get a fourty. i will check on the way back if its still there
11/21/2006 4:35:08 PM
I have a wheelchair, but both wheels are bent pretty bad from riding it down stairs and off some gaps. Wheel chair stuntin' ftw.
11/21/2006 4:45:26 PM
dude was like "do you think you'll be needing these bars that keep you from rolling over backwards?"i was like "oh, you mean these wheelie bars? definitely".

11/25/2006 3:16:47 PM
hell yes. i'm headed to my house for tonight, and we're stopping by harris teeter on the way back now that i can legitimately ride an electric cart. i went to wal-mart last night to get some stuff, but they were all taken. [Edited on November 25, 2006 at 4:08 PM. Reason : .]

12/5/2006 3:04:21 AM
i found a wheel chair for you!i might be using that for the snow soon
12/5/2006 11:36:05 AM
^lolgraduated from the walker to crutches today. i've ditched all of my casts/braces also except for an anke brace on the left leg. i can even start putting a bit of weight on the left leg and wearing a normal shoe. the next and hopefully final surgery will be the end of january. it's absolutely amazing to me how far things have come in only 7 weeks from how they were the night of the accident. it's astonished the doctors as well. i'd love to say it's me, but i believe in a higher power. i'm definitely living through a miracle. i imagine those of you that have seen the accident pictures or saw me in the hospital would agree.[Edited on December 20, 2006 at 2:34 AM. guess it's about time for an update on this junk.i've got a meeting with my lawyer tomorrow, i'll ask if it's okay to show the pictures from the accident scene/hospital. i don't think it's any problem, but i forgot to ask the last time i saw him. definitely don't want to do anything to jeopordize things in the event there is a suit.i've started adding up my medical bills this week. it's up to ~$140k now. there's still a few things that haven't come yet, plus i have at least one more surgery plus who knows how many more doctor visits/pt sessions. i wouldn't be surprised if it's $200-250k by the time it's said and done. thank goodness for health insurance.i was supposed to be having the bone graft surgery in my left leg the end of this month, but there were signs that i still have the pseudomonas infection. it's semi resistant to all anti biotics, so it's a waiting game for my body to finish taking care of it in conjunction with anti biotics. if it doesn't clear up by feb. 15th, they'll be doing a surgery strictly to help clean it out inside. then it would be more waiting for it to completely clear. if things look good on the 15th, i'll have the bone graft the end of febuary and be back in the hospital about a week. once the bone graft is complete, it'll just be a 3-4 month waiting game to see how much use i regain. they are still expecting 75%, but it's no guarantee. i have started some physical therapy, but it's strictly for scar tissue therapy and increasing ankle motion so they don't have to do an achilles tendon extension. the massive amount of scar tissue has things pretty bound up. there's not much else to do yet since i'm limited to 30lbs. of weight due to the 2 inches of bone missing from my tibia.the right leg and my left hand are pretty much completely healed. i'll get a little pain in my right leg if i stand/walk too much, and some in my hand in certain situations. nothing major at all though. i'm still on crutches, and will be for quite some time to come. physically, things look pretty normal. if i'm wearing pants, you'd think i just had a sprained ankle or something.i've also had to deal with some withdrawal symptoms from percocet the past couple of weeks now that they're trying to get my dosages down, but it's about cleared up.after thinking about it alot the past few months, i've decided so far it's been worth what i've had to go through to have had the experience to ride a motorcycle for 5 years. some of you might think that's stupid considering things, but if you've never ridden one you can't understand. i stand by that i will never ride again though. i've payed a big price to have that experience, and it's time to move on.i think the worst/hardest part is going to be the psychological effects of my next surgery. i deal with pain pretty well, and the worst of that is over. i'm all ready sick and tired of dealing with things, and it'll be basically like starting the recovery process all over again after the bone graft. at least i won't have the hand and right leg to deal with this time.okay, so that turned out to be a hell of an update. i'm not typing all this for attention, to whine/complain, or to get any sympathy. i chose to ride and took the chance knowing something like this or worse could happen. i just want people to fully realize what the dangers are out there though, riding or driving, and what the results of your decisions can be. alot of you have become my friends from this site over the years, and i'd hate for us to lose anyone. be careful folks.[Edited on January 29, 2007 at 9:36 PM. it's nice to see you're doing a bit better gluck with the PT it's a bitch
1/29/2007 9:58:56 PM
^^lol, yeah i figured i'd payed my dues after my first wreck (just bad road rash). wrong. ^yeah, even now it sucks... the scar tissue therapy basically amounts to tearing the surface/skin scars away from the underlying scar tissue, muscle, etc. i've at least got a pretty cute therapist though. 1/29/2007 10:22:18 PM
paraffin is a waxy substance a little thinner than candle wax etcit's kind of like a deep tissue heat massagethey dip in your limb 3-4 times to get it coated in paraffin, then they wrap it in plastic (or in the case of hands put it in a baggy and zip it) to hold in the heat. very good at getting down into muscles and tissues and releaving pain and over all relaxing things. it's awesome reallyhttp://www.easierliving.com/ProductDetail.asp?style=31695W&gclid=CL7_4puZh4oCFSMqNAodmCFjSQ[Edited on January 29, 2007 at 10:28 PM.
