but yeah. when one generalizes an entire country of people as being animals, it stinks pretty strongly of bigotry to me.

considering this has nothing to do with my religious or political or otherwise any beleives...its just a fact. So this really doesn't make me a bigot. Am i mistaken to call a people who are known to over throw their leaders and always resort to viloence and otherwise animal like behavior...and are now in total anarchy and caos animals?

What am I being closed minded about? I think it's pretty cut and dried that I am calling a spade a spade, however, calling an entire group of people animals, is certainly elevently levels more extreme than that.

Apparently, neither of you are intelligent enough to comprehend this and/or are just trolling in general.

^^no not at all. republicans chose to bind themselves over some sort of agreement in beliefs. i think it would be fair to generalize those beliefs in some contexts. saying all republicans are dumb would be unfair. saying republicans generally believe in a strong defense i think is fair. calling an entire country animals is not fair.

and you've assumed all sorts of stuff about me that isn't true.

no i'm saying one can make some reasonable generalizations about people who choose to align themselves together. many iraqis didn't choose to be in the current bind they're in. and even if they did, it wouldn't justify them being lumped as all being "animals" as you have done.

here's an example:

members of al qaeda believe in using violence to further their cause and spread terror. i think this generalization is fair. and it is about people who choose to align themselves with this group.

i would not say that all muslims or arabs or whatever believe in using violence to further their cause and spread terror, because it is not true.

what youre doing is being a hypocrite...you go from "i'm against generalizing an entire population of people" to "i think some generalizations there are fair and warranted"

Quote :
"one can make some reasonable generalizations about people who choose to align themselves together"

maybe if you werent so caught up in wording and political correctness you would realize that the iraqi people who choose to align themselves together and kill thousands and thousands of people can be reasonably generalized as animals

but rather than even ADDRESS that there are murderous animals out there, you would rather nitpick the wording because then you can ignore the animal sector of the iraqi population

i never said or implied that. but to answer your question: yes, i'm sure some would. i'm sure some others would not. this is why broadstroke generalizations aren't very helpful in this discussion

^^i am just pointing out what makes them animals. You could have thought i called them animals because they eat off the floor and hunt each other down for food.

OR

because of their caveman like behavior where no law governs them and they roam freely killing anyone that opposes their opinion.

you actually bring up an interesting point Golovko...im sure we could all agree that there are some good and bad apples in every group of people, especially a large group like a country's population

i would say iraq has a lot more bad apples than some other groups, basing this opinion off the tens of thousands they have killed in the last few years

but if you think iraq was better with saddam in power, was it because he could "tame the animals"...that would mean they are animals

yet if iraq is better now, like i've been saying all along, then i guess iraqis are not all animals

this type of behavior dates back to before saddam...as i've said before.
