ORIf we're going to expect the air crew of the plane to be our security officials, they should have to be deputized. I mean, why not?
8/21/2006 3:49:14 PM
OReverybody could exercise a little bit of common fucking sense, including the people calling for a gigantic lawsuit over this. At the very most, he should have gotten his flight for free, and maybe another free flight to offset the time spent in all of this mess. That sounds reasonable to me. Driving another stake into the heart of the airline industry doesn't, even though they're corporations and they do corporationy things, have meetings, and make money.
8/21/2006 3:58:28 PM
so where did it ever say that he was looking for a large settlement?
8/21/2006 4:00:26 PM
Maybe he's not.But there's a lot of people hoping UA gets the "shit sued out of it". I'm expressing how fucking braindead that sentiment is.
8/21/2006 4:01:24 PM
Are you denying that having a sound training program for your flight attendants is a sound component of free market competition?????The only concern you can really have of relevance is that UA might lose business to customers that refuse to fly with an airline that doesn't sufficiently train its staff to recognize the difference between a terrorist and a man praying. You've got to be ridiculously naive to think other airlines have never dealt with this problem on other flights before. So, what we have here is a change in tastes. Whoever doesn't want to risk being frog marched off a UA flight unnecessarily because some passenger noticed him praying, or doesn't want to economically support UA for its decision, has the means of taking their business to another airline.I'm sure that Continental & Southwest already have executives pitching the ideas of training their staff for these matters and positioning themselves as the "friendlier" airline already. Oh wait...I think Delta's already after that one.So I'm not concerned with the industry because of this. Compared with the foiled attacks in the UK, this won't even register an effect on air traffic. They already have bigger problems and have already received an anti-competitive subsidy of enormous proportions within recent enough memory to deal with that.

8/21/2006 4:11:08 PM
Right. So you train the crew to look for more or other factors in conjunction.
8/21/2006 4:12:48 PM
Freedom of speech is a right guaranteed in this country. Last time I checked, there was no freedom of getting drunk and calling terrorist on some arab dood because youre drunk.

public vs. privatehow many restaurants allow hare krishna to jump around singing and shit in their dining room
8/21/2006 7:34:13 PM
since we're abandoning the confines of real discussion...how many christians are kicked out of resaurants for praying before eating their food?
8/21/2006 7:39:14 PM
How many Muslims get kicked out of restaurants for praying before they eat their food?
8/21/2006 10:03:38 PM
Now the Koran tells the faithful to take non-believers and either subugate them or kill them. Is this just a cute proverb-type thing? What do we do with a country run by extremists who really want to follow this idea through to its logical conclusion? Is there a point when the country's existence is no longer wanted by the rest of the world and it is obliterated never again to gain a foot-hold with their poisonous tripe?[Edited on August 21, 2006 at 11:10 PM. how many christians have flown planes into buildings?
8/22/2006 1:41:03 AM
the christians usually just blow up buildings with truck bombs.

^^your flaw is that you assume everyone is as hateful as you
8/22/2006 9:55:30 AM
Oh but they are. It's just way cooler to hate Christians and fellate Muslims, to a certain crowd. These are the same people who hate Christianity's guts based upon the same reasons I hate Islam's and Judaism's, but who are so intellectually dishonest that they take up the mantle of the current opposite. It's called being contrarian. When you push it to an extreme is when you bitch about people who wear crosses, and think it's cool for people to recite popular terrorist phrases on a plane.
8/22/2006 10:07:35 AM
you're a sad, sad person to assume everyone is hateful like you.
8/22/2006 10:08:38 AM
everyone is hateful like him. some just whitewash the hardness of their hearts while they sit for an hour a week in church, synagogue, mosque or other religious facility and tell themselves that they are pious while doing anything and everything they want during the week, walking around hating members of group x.[Edited on August 22, 2006 at 10:11 AM. hate for all!
8/22/2006 10:14:14 AM
Knowing what we know about Abrahamic religions and their consequences, you don't hate them? You're either a fucking retard or a monster.
8/22/2006 10:19:27 AM
again with the hate.call me crazy, but i've seen religion do good things for plenty of people. i'mnot one of those people. i like to judge people on their acts, not who they pray to (or if they pray at all). if a christian does stupid shit, then i'll call them out. the same thing with a buddhist, muslim or jew.religion isn't an excuse for dumb behavior nor does it mean that someone necessarily is dumb.

Actually many of my positions aren't comfortable for me. I do my best to let my reasoning lead to my opinions, not my opinions lead to my reasoning.Do you honestly think I don't want to live forever in a blissful eternity? Are you nuts? If I could get myself to buy it, I would, but the reasoning stares me in the face. When somebody comes up with a line of reasoning that I can buy, I'll sign on the dotted line.[Edited on August 22, 2006 at 10:37 AM. Reason : .]

so you hate everyone that can buy something like that? sounds like a case of jealousy to me.
8/22/2006 10:38:23 AM
if thats your approach..then you..my friend...will never buy anything...thats just a fact...

8/22/2006 11:23:28 AM
until there is some big airline hijacking by Indians, then yes of course
8/22/2006 11:24:42 AM
we don't do that shit, we're content with tukking ur jerbs
8/22/2006 11:25:39 AM

well duh!but that's what i am saying, they should have felt reassured.i mean, they confiscate any bottles or liquids, they remove your shoes (mandatory for all passengers), they make you remove all jackets/coats/3rd layer of clothing, etc, so what else can the airline industry do?i mean, if after all that, the passengers still don't feel reassured, then what?
8/22/2006 1:06:49 PM
then....no muslims!!!
8/22/2006 1:07:56 PM
ok stalin.next please.
8/22/2006 1:10:20 PM
well...the obvious solution is to allow everyone and everything onto planes...if we dont dothat...then we are facists and the terrorists win!!!
8/22/2006 1:11:30 PM
i wouldnt care if we didnt allow any muslims on planes
8/22/2006 1:12:17 PM
^ maybe because that wouldn't affect you? i am sure you would be saying the same if you WERE a muslim![Edited on August 22, 2006 at 1:17 PM. Reason : ^^ obviously, the internment of the japanese during ww2 was a good and moral thing!]
8/22/2006 1:16:17 PM
i think most people make decisions based on how it affects themso i dont really see the point you're trying to makei know if we didnt allow muslims on any flights on september 11, 2001...
