I'm Caleb John-Michael and I like my name. But on second thought, don't name your kid Caleb. It seems like there are a lot more of us than there used to be and I'd like my name to continue being somewhat unique.

please don't saddle your child with a stupid, cliche, or otherwise tauntable name. he will hate you for it later. other things, like ears, nose, freckles, etc. can't really be helped.

and before you settle for something "creative" or unusual (especially re: spelling, and "jaxon" takes the cake here), think about how you would feel at 4, 14, 24, and 64 with that name. put on your evil-schoolkid-at-recess cap for a moment and think of what kinds of shitty things other kids might say. some names are just easier to deal with than others. and definitely follow the ^^^^^^ advice re: ditching the popular names, too. your kid will live in a different world than you, and his name should not be trendy. nor, however, should he sound like a character in a cheap romance novel. and on that note, his name should also not sound like a golf course, country club, or new development outside of raleigh. thus: tyler, dawson, ashton and cooper are flat out. and one more thing: don't name your kid a nickname. in other words, don't name him "mike" or "bob" -- give him the entire/proper name and give him the option of shortening it later on.

then again, what do i know? i have a tank full of bettas named "one fish," "two fish," "red fish," and "blue fish," respectively.

It was because of my father that from the ages of seven to fifteen, I thought that my name was Jesus Christ and my brother, Russell, thought that his name was Dammit. "Dammit, will you stop all that noise?" And, "Jesus Christ, sit down!" One day, I'm out playing in the rain, and my father yelled, "Dammit will you get back in here!" I said, "Dad, I'm Jesus Christ!"

^^contrary to this message board I like Jaxon. I like it mostly because I like the name Jackson am not a big fan of the name Jack, therefore that makes sense to me. It's different--- I LIKE IT

Personally I like: Isaac Michael

You must also think about the intials so I also vote: Edward (or Eben) Michael Taylor

If you name him philip it must be with ONE L you are from State right?

I work with a man named Tom Taylor so Thomas is an option
Also I like the name Cory (Corey, Kory) it has sort of gone out of mainstream (to my knowledge)

My husband and I are like you guys. I really want something that isn't going to cause my child to have to mark all of his/her stuff with his/her last initial. I hate being one of 6 "jason"s or one of 12 Jennifers---but my husband absolutely protests anything that isn't culturally acceptable. He hates the idea of Athena for a girl's name and protested the X in Jaxon. I think he really just agrees totally with Noen.

Anyway good luck to you and your wife!
Congrats

Wow, I just realized who robster is and i feel really dumb for not knowing earlier.

Name him Jon, pronounced very abruptly. Bryan would approve

This site is fun if you want to see the popularity of a name over the past century. Just type up a name and see what time period it was most widely used. That way you might be able to pick out something unique to now . http://babynamewizard.com/namevoyager/lnv0105.html
