omg well if motorcycles are so dangerousand big ben didn't diethen that must mean cars, skiing, horseback, planes, and sleeping are all more dangerousSTILL SAF'R THAN PRETZELS
6/13/2006 12:57:08 PM
riding a motorcycle without a helmet is safe, there is no chance of injury, not even a 9" laceration on the back of your head or a broken jaw or missing teeth or a broken left sinus cavity...motorcycles are the safest form of tranportation in the worldsince anything can be dangerous, i'm going to continue to deny that motorcycles might be more dangerous because i'm stubborn as fuck and construe all this talk as offensive to a biker like myself
6/13/2006 1:04:25 PM
if there was a mod worth a shit in this section, woodfoot would be suspended we get it, you're a fucking tard. seriously, we get it

6/13/2006 2:01:11 PM
its now ridiculous to suggest that motorcycles aren't as dangerous as you fuckers supposegreat
6/13/2006 2:03:05 PM
all i've said is that riding a motorcycle is more dangerous than a car, which i don't really thinkyou can much argue with.
6/13/2006 2:06:20 PM
you suggested it once.we all disagreedbut you continued to try to be clever with the pictures and feeble strawman arguments[Edited on June 13, 2006 at 2:07 PM. Reason : .]
6/13/2006 2:07:00 PM
So whats the difference in insurance rates for cars and motorcycles (proportional to the cost/value of each)?
6/13/2006 2:07:24 PM
woodfoot why dont you fly up to pittsburgh and ask big ben if he think motorcycles are dangerous
6/13/2006 2:11:34 PM
how bout this woodfootmotorcycles arent inherently dangerousbut when you couple them with factors such as careless drivers, uneven road surfaces, and a lack of a protective barrier between the rider and the outside environment; motorcycles place the rider at a significant risk for bodily harm.Yeah, if you ride on a nice, smoothly paved road out in bumfuck with no other motorists around, you probably won't wreck- and if you do, odds are you wont be as hurt because you might have more time to react and lay your bike down. But that's not where most accidents happen, now is it?

6/13/2006 2:47:04 PM
^^you say that after saying things like
6/13/2006 2:47:31 PM
THATS THE POINTholy jesusthe same wreck between two cars and the same speeds and all we'd be talking about is ben's whiplash
6/13/2006 2:48:30 PM
i dont care if he was speeding are notcrotch rockets are inherently more dangerous than hogsand motorcycles are dangerousyou're the only one who disagrees]
6/13/2006 2:48:35 PM
oh here we go again...so a person following all the rules of the road on a hyabusais at more riskthan a person following all the rules of the road on a harleyfucking brilliant
6/13/2006 2:50:03 PM
damn you're stubborn
6/13/2006 2:51:09 PM
i'm stubborn because i spend a decent amount of miles driving around on one of these, and i'm surrounded by idiots like you fuckers who would rather complain about motorcycles than be less of a threat
6/13/2006 2:54:14 PM
6/13/2006 2:56:22 PM
ok so t-boning a car head first isnt any more dangerous than on a harley or something similar where you have your head and body parts farther away from the impact?I dont see how those are the same
6/13/2006 2:58:59 PM
hell, if you want to make shit up like thatbeing farther back increases the force you're trajected with^^i'd have to check, but i think my jeep and my motorcycle have roughly the same insurance rates (of course i have the minimum required coverage on both)
6/13/2006 3:03:25 PM
how exactly is that making shit up?
6/13/2006 3:05:38 PM
staying with the earlier theme....KWII APPROVES MOTORCYCLES.[Edited on June 13, 2006 at 3:10 PM. Reason : fsd]

i don't think it's up to ben if he rides again. 1) he has no license to do so2) he has ridden w/out a license, and since he hasn't had a license for 2 years he is required by law to wear a helmet, which he didn't do. i'm sure breaking these laws will probably keep him from being able to legally ride for awhile, but that's not what will stop him.3) cowher and rooney will NOT allow this to happen again. they will set aside new rules, regardless of what is in his contract, and will make it clear that he will be punished if he disobeys. they'd rather bench him themselves than have an off the field injury keep him on the sidelines.they already don't allow him to ride during the season, but i'm sure they'll stop allowing him to ride in the offseason now as well. it's possible that ben will pick up riding again when he retires, but by then it will have been so long since he's ridden, he may have lost interest in it, or realized the dangers and decided to stop (less likely).bottom line is, i'll be surprised if i ever hear of ben riding again while he plays for the steelers, unless of course that is quickly followed up with him being benched for X number of games for getting caught.

If professional athletes want to ride motorcycles, or jump out of airplanes, or shoot themselves to see if their newly bought bulletproof vest works then so be it. They know what they are risking when they do it. I just hope that if he comes back and sucks, that he didn't spend all his money. And if he did that he got a degree that was worth something.
6/14/2006 12:13:47 AM
fucking idiotbut if he wants to risk his life like that, doesnt harm us at allreal test will to see if he keeps riding bikes after this, and if so if he keeps on riding around without a helmet
6/14/2006 12:34:11 AM
I think that given the fact that there are other vehicles on the road that at a minimum 3 or 4 times heavier than a motorcycle, it is more dangerous to be riding a motorcycle than a car. Identical collision between a motorcycle and a car versus a car and a car, more damage will be done to the car every time.Couple that with 2 wheels being inherently less stable than 4 wheels, the fact that your only protection is the helmet/clothes you wear (no airbags, etc.), it is obvious that all other things being equal, it's more dangerous to ride a motorcycle. Insurence rates attest to that fact. This is honestly one of the dumbest discussions I've ever heard, even for Tdub.

by that rational, nothing is inherently dangerous.atomic bombs aren't inherently dangerous. but when you couple them with factors such as exploding, or outside forces that when applied cause it do detonate or its contents to leak or mix together; atomic bombs place anyone around them at a significant risk for bodily harm"[Edited on June 14, 2006 at 3:25 PM.
