UPDATE: $132 million, first weekend.I thought it was ok.
7/10/2006 10:21:33 AM
One thing I was suprised about... there wasn't a single mention of parlay. I was expecting them to at least put one joke about in there since it was so prevailant in the first one.
7/10/2006 10:50:24 AM
I would have liked to have more references about "The Code"... III
7/10/2006 2:51:48 PM
I thought it was great.Although it should have ended a few minutes sooner. Teasing the audience that much is just mean.
7/10/2006 3:05:24 PM
I have a feeling that one of the three big characters in the film are going to die for real in the third movie.
7/10/2006 3:29:50 PM
I think Governor Swann will be killed either by Jack or Will in the next movie.
7/10/2006 4:06:52 PM
i coudl see that happen
7/10/2006 4:26:13 PM
7/10/2006 4:34:02 PM
I liked how governor swan broke a candle stick holder while will was saying goodbye to elizabeth in the jail.i was like, oh snap, im a dork that i get the reference.
7/10/2006 6:02:58 PM
Not references, but things to look for:Jack steals a ring from Tia Dalma's shack. When Tia Dalma releases the monkey, he scampers into the next room to a pair of boots lying on a bed.Same scene, Jack picks up a hat and looks at it with familiarity.Same scene, the heart locket on Tia Dalma's table matches the music box Jones owns. The guy that falls from the top of the shipwrecked ship, looks like his face was suctioned off by the Kraken.
7/10/2006 9:31:25 PM
^damn I missed all of that...I gotta go watch it again when its not 12 at night.
7/10/2006 9:35:52 PM
^^ i noticed the ring, the monkey going to the boots, but missed the hat and the music box.also didnt notice the guys face.i did like the sound effects of the kraken though, it sounded great.
7/10/2006 9:38:32 PM
didn't think about the hat or the face... but i remember them now you mention them...the other things i did notice and thought would be significant..
7/11/2006 2:16:43 AM
I got all of it but the music box necklace
7/11/2006 3:45:39 AM
yeah, i saw all of those but the boots... i mean, i saw the boots, but never associated the boots with a person... (not even after seeing the end of the movie)...the music box thing better be important...
7/11/2006 8:00:31 AM
What if the "witch" is Davey Jones' lost lass???
7/11/2006 8:51:39 AM
how long has davy jones been "davy jones"do we know?
7/11/2006 9:04:49 AM
Noticed it all but the music box...also did not really associate the boots with End....def need to se eit again...and not at 12 AM III
7/11/2006 10:57:00 AM
I thought it was awesomeI'll go see it again tomorrow
7/11/2006 11:00:06 AM
Yeah I thought the music box thing might point to the witch woman either being the "woman" Jones couldn't have, or that she made the box for him to hold his heart in.And yeah I never really noticed the boots or the hat part as being significant while I was watching it. But I did notice he was stealing some things while there, lol.

The bit about history of the Black Pearl -- AND a bit of history between Jack his deal with Jones and Beckett/EITC is on the official website. Go to the menu link, click on games then black pearl 101 > learn about the black pearl > then click on the bowmast at the front of the ship.http://adisney.go.com/disneypictures/pirates/main.htmlIn the Verizon cell phone V-cast moble game more detail is revealed as you play it...Jack was captian of his merchant vessel (The Wicked Wench) under the employment of the East India Trading Co. One day Beckett orders him to pickup precious "cargo" in Africa to deliver it to the West Indies/Caribbean. When Jack discovers what the "cargo" is (slaves) and he turns back around to Africa and returns them home. For that, Beckett's men come and burn/sink his ship and brand him a pirate. After Jack escapes from prison, he vows to go get the Wench back from the bottom of the ocean, even if he's gotta drag it out with his hands. While in the water, he nearly drowns, and Davy Jones comes along and saves him. They make their 13 year deal, and Davy Jones raises the Wicked Wench from the depths and Jack renames it The Black Pearl. That quote "what the Black Pearl really is...is freedom" takes on a new dimension!Oh and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End may finally put to rest the great debate of our time....Pirates or Ninjas?[Edited on July 11, 2006 at 8:29 PM. Spelling and typing are intricately related. It's a good thing nobody wants to read your opinions anyway.

Went to see it again with my fianceI have a feeling Tia Dormi, or whatever her name is, was one of the slaves that he rescued before he became a pirateJust wonder whats gonna happen when it comes time for Barbosa and Sparrow to crew the Pearl again
7/12/2006 7:39:29 PM
Oh yeah, well I went to see it with MY BOYFRIEND! BOYFRIEND BOYFRIEND BOYFRIEND!Best of all, he didn't have to pay for a ticket because he does not exist.
7/12/2006 10:11:58 PM
errr OK.SPOILERSI loved the movie. I know I'm gonna catch a lot of flak for this, but I never saw the big deal with the first one. The pacing was great, the cartoony jokes worked, and enjoyed just about everything. I liked the love triangle, although I don't know how they'll satisfactorily wrap that one up.I can't believe people are bitching about the ending. Virtually every middle movie in a trilogy has a cliffhanger ending or at the very least some loose ends. And Will would want to save Jack since he still thinks Jack willingly sacrificed himself.

no way in hell jack wouldnt have gotten on that life boat if he hadnt been chained up.you guys are reading way too deep into this.
7/13/2006 8:29:29 AM
^^finally someone else gets it
7/13/2006 8:40:30 AM
Any popular movie has a great deal of script and storyboard preparation before it reaches the final production stages, so it's impossible to read too far into it.
7/13/2006 12:01:50 PM
no, its really not.
7/13/2006 12:14:37 PM
white chicks?
7/13/2006 12:32:44 PM
She got rid of Jack because she was afraid of what she might do to/with him. He was a serious threat to her relationship with Will, so she eliminated that threat.
