You're even more of a tool than the herb-haters who root for the team to lose so that he gets fired.

UJustWait84 You make it sound like Herb > State. As if he's legendary status like Dean, K, Wooden and w/o him NC State will crumble, fall to our knees.[Edited on March 21, 2006 at 8:08 PM. Reason : df]

Yes, because there is no Sendeck coaching here.

nc state fans would be the reason he'd leave after this season...
3/21/2006 8:32:08 PM
seriously. we've gotten national attention over how shitty our fans are to our coach.everyone outside of NCSU is defending him, but we've got illusions of grandeur.rock on!
3/21/2006 8:34:17 PM
if herb leaves b/c of us crappy fans, then we've done our job
3/21/2006 9:06:39 PM
at least let me spoon Herb
3/21/2006 9:16:35 PM
fuckin' A, man.....If I were one of the other coaches in the league (esp. K or Roy) and I knew that Herb and his coaching style basically ensured that his teams would continually be my bitch, I would be all about supporting him too. Why would you want 2 guaranteed conference wins a year to leave??And why are the anti-Herb people considered anti-State. That could not be further from the truth. And also, why is everyone so positive that it would be worse without him?? That just seems like such a big leap of logic.
3/21/2006 9:25:34 PM
there are people other than coach K and roy that support herb that actually have our interests in mind.also, everybody is entitled to their own opinion. i never bashed anti-herb as anti-state.[Edited on March 21, 2006 at 9:37 PM. Reason : .]

you are accusing me of not making coherent arguments? You are the one who is speaking in grandiose terms. Every one of the people that has given VERY valid reasons why Herb should go and why the season was a disappointment has been met with the same comments from you: "we won 20 games! We made the tourney! The Wake losses don't matter!"you are like a broken record. I understand you are a student, I understand that you want desperately to believe that things are improving, I understand that Herb is the only coach you have known in your time at State (and in your life the only other one was Less Robinson), so I forgive your misguided passion.I just want all of you Herb supporters to explain to me how he is ANY different that Mike O'Cain? And he was run out of town on a rail! There is no difference what so ever.

xplosivo...i graduated in 02...i'm not a student...i'm also not a fucking idiot who expects greatness from this program
3/22/2006 10:35:35 AM
desire and expectations are two different things.i desire greatness, but i don't expect it.
3/22/2006 10:36:40 AM
EXACTLYi'd love to win every game all the time but i dont expect it and no program should...some people expect greatness, like they think they're entitled to it cause we won a few titles in the 70s and 80s...its dumb]
3/22/2006 10:38:06 AM
wait..for..it............
3/22/2006 10:47:11 AM
I feel baited, but whatever...why wouldn't you expect greatness? State is one of a very few schools to have multiple NCAA titles and we play in the historically strongest conference in the country. I think we have every right to expect greatness.I just don't understand how (or why) some of you are so satisfied with mediocrity. That is just such a crazy way of thinking to me.
3/22/2006 11:21:10 AM
Herb inspires no Hope.Herb inspires no confidence.Even his supporters have to resort to arguments like "well we'll never be as good as UNC."Thats why the man needs to go.Not because he can or can't coach. But because he couldn't inspire a starving horse to eat.An ideal coach would be a cross between Amato and Sendek: managing to fire up the fanbase, techinically sound, and not a total clown.
3/22/2006 11:27:49 AM
the word mediocrity needs to be banned from the dictionary...
3/22/2006 11:32:59 AM
3/22/2006 11:41:23 AM
So who else feels this: I used to anxiously go into games vs duke/unc thinking, hell yes, it's winnable, we have fight in us so throw the records out the window. Now...I anticipate games vs the cellar dwellers thinking, oh shit, I "hope" we don't get beat, just keep it close so we'll have a fuckin' chance, maybe. Mind you, I don't put this all on Herb though b/c the beginning of his employment is not where the line is drawn. But it's mostly Herb's stoic ways which has rubbed off on our players, as well as fans. Over the years, all of this bullshit about "can't fuck with duke/carolina" and "don't expect greatness" crap has really been draining.

3/22/2006 12:09:26 PM
How hilarious if Herb has used the ol' divide and conquer thing on us. Setting us up and waiting for the most ideal time to leave. Then after he bounces and gives us the finger, he calls out the dumbass supporters. Telling them how foolish they were, not for supporting him, but for turning on their own.

3/22/2006 12:09:57 PM
who gives a shit about how he did b/w 1996-2000 ... tally up those numbers for the past 4-5 years and seeeveryone knows we sucked when he first got here
3/22/2006 12:32:13 PM
we were at the bottom of the league when he took over, and he has gradually improved the team each year since. obviously we are going to pile up some losses to the rest of the league in those early years.by my count, here are the numbers over the last 5 years:Boston College: 1-3Clemson: 7-1Duke: 2-9Florida State: 9-1Georgia Tech: 7-3Maryland: 5-6Miami: 2-1North Carolina: 4-6Virginia: 8-2Virginia Tech: 2-1Wake Forest: 5-8The only team that has really owned us over the last 5 years has been Duke. and there's no shame in that.[Edited on March 22, 2006 at 12:33 PM. I just gave the man's record over his tenure at NC State. We can massage the numbers all we want to make them say what we want them to say.I will ask this again, because I haven't seen an answer: What would it take for you to not support Herb? And are you going to be OK with NCSU never winning an ACC or NCAA title. If everyone is so pleased with our performance and our big problem is that we play b/t Duke and UNC, then fuck it, let's petition to withdraw from the ACC and try to join the CAA or A10 or something. Because right now, we aren't good enough for the ACC.
3/22/2006 12:49:48 PM

I love how when people like ncWOLFsu try to massage the numbers, we still look mediocre.
3/22/2006 1:21:49 PM
^^There's the recent five years as requested. "you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig"
3/22/2006 1:25:34 PM
im not massaging shit.the first 5 years can't be held against herb b/c he was digging us from the depths of the ACC.the last 5 are more representative of his work. no it's not perfect, we have losing records to some of the teams in the ACC over that period of time and nobody said they're happy with that.i still see improvement though, and i see great recruits coming in and us continuing to improve.
3/22/2006 1:26:03 PM
^ there are no great recruits coming in next seasonyou must be thinking of UNC
3/22/2006 1:29:45 PM
also, this year he expected to have a mcdonalds all america playing. dont forget that. add that plus Evtimov/bennerman not getting hurt and it prolly would have been a better year than last[Edited on March 22, 2006 at 1:32 PM. Reason : f]
3/22/2006 1:31:19 PM
actually our recruits coming next season are pretty good, but the great one(s) i was referring to are chris wright and potentially julian vaughn coming in 2 years.
3/22/2006 1:31:59 PM
i think courtney fells getting the playing time he got this season was a disgrace... especially when he really brought things into games that really helped our team.
3/22/2006 1:33:49 PM
well I know we were a 7 seed last year, not a 10 seedI wonder how many more of those stats are wrong
3/22/2006 1:33:51 PM
Julian Vaughn will more than likely not come here. But we've got other really good players we're looking at in that class. The Chris Wright class is going to be pretty sick.
3/22/2006 1:39:01 PM
^^nope, we were a ten seed last year. (iirc this is the second year we've been a 10 seed playing a 2)
