3/21/2006 9:08:19 PM
i know who the fuck the republican guard is, wtf do i have to do with them invading the US? and yeah, people like me are the ones that flew into thick as shit SA-10 (know what that is prick?) coverage to hammer those tanks in the first place....
3/21/2006 9:09:52 PM
man this shit's gettin off topic....
3/21/2006 9:10:57 PM
well ggyou got your paycheck for it, right?if it was in any way delayed in the mail, i'd feel anything other than indifferent towards your military service
3/21/2006 9:11:29 PM
back on topic.smart cars are not really intelligent.they're just small.
3/21/2006 9:11:50 PM
yeah that coupe looked a little better for around here, somewhat like a miata maybe, that litte urkelmobile needs to stay the fuck in the city....
3/21/2006 9:13:29 PM
i like how these assholes who join the military to thump their chests bitch at me about defending my freedomoffensive strikes on foreign powers does not fucking count as defending my freedom, especially if you volunteer for it.anyway -- back on fucking topic: who cares what it looks like. you cannot continue to drive cars that waste gas faster than if you dumped it on the fucking ground. our country consumes more gasoline than quietly consumes dicks
3/21/2006 9:15:23 PM
damn mcdanger, transfer to fuckin UNC. Automoblie use of gas is just a small part of a much bigger fuel usage problem and its gonna take serious policy change to fix it, not importing some gay ass little car.
3/21/2006 9:18:43 PM
yes, automobiles are only a fraction of the total consumption.but every little bit helps. it adds up.
3/21/2006 9:20:12 PM
3/21/2006 9:22:00 PM
3/21/2006 9:26:51 PM
yeah, im your typical redneck, but these damn megasuvs need to go.
3/21/2006 9:27:15 PM
It's not likely that they'd bother marketing this to the type of people who drive SUVs anyway. It's ideal for the city and that's where it's meant to be driven and where it will be marketed (more than likely). I saw these things all over Paris and they are great for that type of city. You don't see little smart cars like this out on the highway, they have other models designed for that.
3/21/2006 9:41:21 PM
yeah, we were on the SUV trip in refrence to general gas usage. most of us didnt know that they had other models.

my ex's step dad had an s2000, let me drive it. i couldnt get used to the power band, bout like windin up a bike... but i grew up with chevys...and stangs. haha, oh, and i do get a rush when i hold my M4
3/21/2006 10:54:06 PM
3/21/2006 11:04:42 PM
im most likely going to marine ocs in october... long ass story
3/21/2006 11:06:22 PM
a stock s2000 is kind of underwhelming. mine is supercharged, although it still doesn't have much below 6000 rpm. it's still not overwhelmingly powerful, but it's pretty strong.
3/22/2006 12:03:47 AM
factory?? or did you hook it up? i thought about chargin my vette, but 405 is plenty around here....
3/22/2006 12:21:25 AM
comptech aftercooled unit, with comptech exhaust. it's not totally ferocious or anything...should make about 360 crank. feels very composed...not like most tuner cars. just feels like the way it should've been from the factory.
3/22/2006 12:32:34 AM
whats your curb weight? those things are light right?and speaking of light, how do they stick at high speeds?
3/22/2006 12:42:17 AM
2850 or so. not THAT light, but pretty light. They handle really well. Good suspension and nice, stiff chassis (esp for a convertible). Pretty decent steering feel (although I wish it was a little lighter and a little quicker, but then again, I was coming from a tricked out Miata, so the S2000 actually doesn't feel very agile in comparison...but it's much more surefooted and composed. my miata was like a cross between riding a bull and a shifter kart). and i've never taken any curves at anything over maybe 100 or so (and those were just gentle sweepers), but it feels pretty secure at 140-145 (although it's loud as hell at those speeds with the soft top).[Edited on March 22, 2006 at 12:50 AM. 3/22/2006 1:27:53 AM
yeah, it seemed surefooted when i drove it, but i didnt play much cuz he just got it and I was the first person he let drive it. (he ran my damn vette up to like 105 though....)Thats the remarkable thing about that vette, I hit 150 in it and the faster it went, the harder it sucked to the road. Amaizing aerodynamics. (disclaimer, i was mad alone on a rural strech of 4 lane back home in the middle of the night so the only idiot id killed would be me....)oh, the ex had a miata too, it seemed like it would be fun as hell at like VIR...
3/22/2006 1:27:54 AM
what do you drive rich?
3/22/2006 1:28:49 AM
theres no way you knew the road was empty
3/22/2006 1:29:40 AM
miatas are a blastand if someone with more money than sense strokes enough checks to Flyin' Miata and Extreme Motorsports, they are something else. mine would burn tires through 1st and 2nd just by stomping the gas, and break them loose again into 3rd on a hard shift...and the suspension was so stiff that you could sometimes feel painted stuff on the pavement. the steering was go-kart quick. it was kind of a bull in a china shop, though...way more power than the chassis could really deal with, even with extra bracing and a double-braced roll bar.
3/22/2006 1:33:38 AM
3/22/2006 1:38:18 AM
jon!! is that that cashed M3 on your pics. the one that got the fuck vandalized out of it? id had to run that truck down and see for myself....

3/22/2006 1:48:22 AM
yeah that gearing's gotta help. I restored an '82 vette in HS that had a 2.73 in it. Couldnt get out of its own way, but got like 21mpg (good as hell for back then). They chose those gears for hw drivin (marketability). Kinda like riding a 10 speed bike in 10th gear all the time. Sucks slow but you can haul ass top end. [Edited on March 22, 2006 at 1:52 AM. Reason : thought of some more shit]
3/22/2006 1:50:27 AM
Yeah, no balls off the line but the top end would be there. Fastest I've ever had the car (~105) it wasn't even turning 3500 rpm. Depending on who you talk to the VIII may or may not be electronically limited at 124, haven't felt the desire to test that one yet...

anyway, back to the Smart cars.....I thought this was funny - the next two pictures are the view out of my apartment windows in downtown Munich when I got home this eveningAs you can see, the Smart car is a good 1/4-1/3 shorter than the Mini. Also, Paris was swarming with them when we went last fall -
3/22/2006 1:22:08 PM
broke ass pictures
3/22/2006 1:31:14 PM
what? are you getting "little red x", or are you commenting on the poor quality....
3/22/2006 1:33:33 PM
I drove a 60hp Beetle ('71 I think) for three months and it was fine for the highway. Couldnt get it past 90, but it would do 80 just fine and still have some passing power on tap.
3/22/2006 1:36:01 PM
Vienna, 6 MarchMunich, 5 MarchYou can't see it, but this dude is actually carrying a smart car on the back of his bike. The snow is hiding it, though. (Looks like it all melted well in the last week.)
3/22/2006 2:27:42 PM
I wonder how much they cost. I want one.And I understand they are supposedly crash resistant...but I wonder if life insurance companies would make you pay more if you drove one of those things.[Edited on March 22, 2006 at 2:53 PM. Reason : sss]

ok two question1- they are practical in the city for space reasons obviosly but if they are fuel efficient, wouldnt they be more practical outside of the city where people drive longer distances. 2- anyone have the percentages of where fuel is used up the most, if automobiles are only a small fraction of fuel usage i'd like to know where most of it is going
3/22/2006 4:15:16 PM
hell yeah i thought automobiles would make a huge percentage
