I probably exaggerated a little, but not by much. Not if you take into account the various inclines and obstacles one faces when running on streets as compared to running on a treadmill.
1/19/2006 8:25:14 PM
There's no good reason to run on a treadmill.
1/19/2006 8:27:04 PM
hellz nah, and it's frickin' boring... even if you DO have an mp3 player. unless you've got hot chicks on stair steppers to watch. shit, i ran my PE107 pretest this week and the best part about running around that tiny track was all those hot girls watching the runners from the stairsteppers!and for the girls whining about how i said it'll be funny to throw up, i'm just doing this to a) run 4 miles b) support a worthy charity and c) see how hard i have to run to make myself yak up a dozen donuts. i don't care about completing the challenge... in fact, maybe i'll just hold them in for the race and then find you at the finish line and yak for you. honestly, i do NOT want to keep 2300 calories of donuts in my system - i'd rather yak them up and eat a good breakfast later.[Edited on January 20, 2006 at 12:09 AM. that's fucking beast.
1/20/2006 12:17:03 AM
Honestly, the t-shirt design will be the deciding factor.
1/20/2006 12:17:30 AM
i'm not sure if being skinny and a good runner is going to hurt or help me...
1/20/2006 12:25:29 AM
i was always told not to worry about the "quantity" a machine tells you for calories burnedits about giving your heart exercise

1/20/2006 8:24:20 PM
i had a steak dinner tonight, good or not i don't know...it keeps my stomach big, and i figure its enough time to not be sitting in me during the run and devouring
1/20/2006 10:21:27 PM
I drank like a gallon of water. What is the official route? The only thing I'm unsure about is the crossover street. If we use Oberlin, can you cut the corner or not?
1/20/2006 10:41:16 PM
should probably have the participants fill out a liability waiver[Edited on January 20, 2006 at 11:06 PM. Reason : ,]
1/20/2006 11:05:43 PM
Maybe so that they are liable for damaging the sidewalks near businesses with their stomach acid
1/20/2006 11:15:24 PM
Does anyone know if you have to sincerely follow the rules or is it all in fun when it comes down to it? Examples: Can people share doughnuts, walk quickly instead of run... etc...
1/21/2006 8:32:04 AM
Share doughnuts? WTF? Why even do it if you're going to cheat? There's no prize.
1/21/2006 8:34:54 AM
they should have a special award for those who throw up.
1/21/2006 8:35:39 AM
Yeh, there were a bunch of people that cheated. Oh well. Hey dzombie28, is there any way that I can switch sizes for my shirt. When I got there at 9, all they had were medium and small and I need a large. I will bring my medium back to switch it out if thats ok. Thanks.
1/21/2006 11:42:26 AM
i feel like such crap, why did i ever decide to do that
1/21/2006 11:47:04 AM
there doing tshirts on tuesday on the brickyard for those who didnt get any. record time was around 29:30 by some dude who runs for like washington i heardi came 3rd in my heat
1/21/2006 12:26:48 PM
that was incredibly gross.with the t-shirt thing, they're getting more in on tuesday, and i heard that they'll be out on the brickyard...
1/21/2006 12:27:07 PM
I'm so glad I got myself to get out of bed and do this
1/21/2006 12:32:41 PM
very memorable but very very bad
1/21/2006 12:38:52 PM
you eat a dozen doughnuts between running 2 miles back and forth and you feel like crap?what precisely did you expect?
1/21/2006 12:54:55 PM
I feel great. Eating them was tough, but the feeling of satisfaction upon completion more than makes up for it. Definitely didn't ruin my day.
1/21/2006 1:10:10 PM
Here are some pics from the event. Didn't really get a shot of the whole group at the beginning, but I'm sure someone did.The puke pile belongs to runner #062E. Puke video to follow.
1/21/2006 2:10:49 PM
hahaha, how many people puked?
1/21/2006 2:14:33 PM
^^ gg man
1/21/2006 2:17:11 PM
^^I only know of three out of 100+ participants. Hardly the puke fest you guys were hoping for.

no way.... i can't eat more than 4 at one time.. otherwise i'm
1/21/2006 3:50:21 PM
fuck, i thought this was the 28th.Oh well, probably a good thing I missed this
1/21/2006 4:16:11 PM
could you ball them up into small balls and just swallow them whole or did you have to eat each one like a normal person eats them?i only ask cause the hot dog eatting championships the get water and the one dude soaks his in water to eat them quicker, if you could do something like that with the doughnuts i could do it pretty easy prolly
1/21/2006 4:41:56 PM
people that throw up are my heros
1/21/2006 4:51:43 PM
yeah dnl - i'm really suprised you weren't in the top 3 - must have been that you just missed it - pfft
1/21/2006 4:57:06 PM
you could do whatever you wanted to down the doughnuts. I don't think anyone soaked theirs in water, but a lot of us took them and smushed them to make them easier to down
1/21/2006 6:16:44 PM
I wish I was there to watch how many girls usually participate?
1/21/2006 7:52:00 PM
you said usually, like this was a commonplace event.this thing is on its second year, and first that's probably organized.there were plenty of female participants out there today.
1/21/2006 9:00:44 PM
^^Depends on what you mean by "participate."If you mean paying the $10 to get a shirt and be trendy, then quite a few. If you mean actually taking the challenge seriously and not cutting corners, the number drops drastically.[Edited on January 21, 2006 at 9:02 PM. Reason : ]
1/21/2006 9:01:07 PM
in other words, it just kinda falls in line with society on the whole
1/21/2006 9:02:39 PM
definately a lot of cheaters out there.i don't understand the point of cheating at this event.there isn't a prize.
^^Sadly, that's more or less true.
1/21/2006 9:03:18 PM
how could you cut corners?by like not eating all your donuts or something? or like taking a shortcut on the run
1/22/2006 12:19:27 PM
ahh, when are they gona post the results? And i don't know what all this is about the cheaters. A lot of people decided half way through the 12 doughnuts that it was not a good idea to eat them all. it probably wasn't a good idea (healthwise) for anyone to eat them in the first place. But those people didn't get their number marked, indicating that they ate them all. That's not fooling anyone, it's still a running race and if you decide you can't eat the doughnuts, you're not finishing, but you still tried, it's the same as if you ate them all and didn't finish under 1 hour (I would fall in this category).Of course, if you hid your doughnuts and went back like you did eat them that's something else. But i saw nothing but honest to god doughnut eating when i was there. Also, which spelling is correct: doughnut or donut?
1/22/2006 12:22:19 PM
doughnut is only if you're from Britain or one of the suckup colonies (Canada, Australia, ect)
1/22/2006 12:32:38 PM
^Krispy Kreme spells it "doughnuts" and that's the proper spelling.
