i thought mccargo was projected higher
4/12/2006 6:33:13 PM
yeah same here.. and Rodrique Wright from Texas.. last year he was a first round lock. I dont see either of them falling this far down the board
4/12/2006 6:38:56 PM
how the fuck did jimmy williams fall that far
4/12/2006 7:22:33 PM
If I were the giants I would pick a LB, judging by the "ass-raping" a mediocre deshaun foster put on them in the first round.
4/12/2006 7:45:15 PM
Why do we have guys going pro that are likely to not go on the first day?
4/12/2006 7:47:12 PM
Wow, I love Jimmy Williams in the 1st, McClover in the 3rd, and MCCARGO!!! in the 4th. Byrd is a fatass though forget him. Get Bullocks or someone instead.[Edited on April 12, 2006 at 9:25 PM. Reason : k]
4/12/2006 9:24:41 PM
Hmm, Darnell Bing in the 3rd round?
4/12/2006 11:21:53 PM
unless i missed something, there is no way that kiwi will slip to the bottom of the 2nd round..........is there?Carolina better take lendale if he is available, there is talk now of him slipping to the 2nd round. i also find it hard to belive that carolina won't go for a lb somewhere, unless they take the "best player available" route.
4/13/2006 11:30:08 AM
kiwi, like Lendale, hasn't really been that impressive at the combine & proday. I don't think he'll fall that far, but I wouldn't expect him to be a #1.As for carolina, RB, TE, & DB are all needs though as well as LB, so I can't really argue against any of the 1st 3 picks. And it looks like Thomas Davis will be playing LB anyway. Maybe the 4th pick (or if carolina gets Chicago's #3 for RManning) should be LB though. [Edited on April 13, 2006 at 11:35 AM. Reason : ]
4/13/2006 11:32:36 AM
i disagree with TE being a need. we have several TE's that do exactly what they are asked to do (mainly block/ check down passes). our offense doesn't need a te to have 50+ catches per year. there are only so many plays to go around, and with 30-35 running plays, 10 or so to smitty, and 5-10 to other receivers/backs, there aren't many more touches left.
4/13/2006 11:50:29 AM
that makes no sense at allan offense with less playmakers is better than one with more?haha
4/13/2006 11:59:31 AM
4/13/2006 12:03:58 PM
im pretty sure spreading the field with dangerous players is the way offenses work bestjust ask the rams, colts, and hell, even my giantslimiting your options on offense is just stupid no matter how you look at it
4/13/2006 12:16:28 PM
going after a player you dont need and won't use is stupid as well. what good would having an outstanding receiving te do if he gets the same amount of touches that our current te's get?also, a lot of times, the good receiving te's aren't as good at blocking. it would actually hurt carolina if they put a te on the field that could catch better than mangum, sideman, gaines, but couldn't block as well.Im not against getting a receiving te, but there are much more pressing needs that should be addressed first and foremost, and i bet the panthers will agree come draft weekend.

4/13/2006 12:46:56 PM
4/13/2006 1:32:46 PM
4/13/2006 2:07:34 PM
you need versatility
4/13/2006 3:30:36 PM
which is why we need help for the "glass bull", known as deshaun foster, more than anything.
4/13/2006 3:32:28 PM
thats not versatility
4/13/2006 3:34:59 PM
i disagree. having a back like white will all us to pound the ball inside, while also allowing foster to switch it up and hit the edges, and catch passes out of the backfield.... without getting hurt (hopefully).Like the 1-2 combo of davis and foster 3 years ago. They gave the panthers tremendous versatility.
4/13/2006 3:40:54 PM
so you like the 1-2 combo when subbing in running backsbut not in subbing TE's for different personnel packages
4/13/2006 3:49:53 PM
we do that! that is my point, it's not broke so don't fix it. We have 3 very capable te's for what their asked to do, and even if we get another one, he will be asked to do basically the same thing, so what's the point?
4/13/2006 3:58:51 PM
sigh
4/13/2006 4:05:35 PM
with that said, hopefully the Panthers will get LenDale.
4/13/2006 4:12:43 PM
yep, my vote is for lendale also.
4/13/2006 4:53:38 PM
There are better Tight Ends than what the Panthers have. The ones the Panthers have are not perfect. I am not saying the Panthers need to spend an early pick on a tight end, but it could definitely help take the pressure off Smith and Johnson, and could definitely be a big boost overall to the offense. The reason the tight ends don't get a lot of looks in the current Panthers offense is that they aren't good receivers. If the Panthers drafted a good catching tight end, there is no doubt his role would be expanded.
4/13/2006 5:02:17 PM
exactly
4/13/2006 5:51:13 PM
lol, all I know is that we didn't have a good TE last year, and we still beat the Giants.
4/13/2006 6:02:05 PM
Kiper just said Manny might go as high as 18 to the cowboys
4/13/2006 6:49:40 PM
i want the giants to take himhe'd be perfect
4/13/2006 7:51:48 PM
looks like the Panthers won't be drafting LenDale White
4/13/2006 7:57:37 PM
does it
4/13/2006 7:59:32 PM
it was just reported that White has a hamstring tear.
4/13/2006 8:00:48 PM
we could get him w/ our second rd pick now.the panthers rb situation is looking more and more sketch. Is houston planning on keeping davis after they draft bush?
4/14/2006 10:20:34 AM
^yeah they are planning on keeping Davis. Domanick is an above average back, but they just can't pass up on Bush, especially since both are versatile (good receivers).
4/14/2006 12:06:09 PM
too bad, davis is a very good, pound it type of back who is unfortunate enough to be part of a franchise that doesn't invest in good offensive linemen. if they don't do something about that, it'll make bush look average at best.
4/14/2006 12:28:30 PM
apparently the panthers expect Jenkins and Foster to both be 100% for training camp...for what its worth...its good news
4/14/2006 1:45:49 PM
the question is how long will they stay healthy? I'm worried that foster will have some type of season/career ending injury early, and if we don't have another dependable back (not goings) we can kiss our season goodbye. we could recover if Jenkins got hurt, though.
4/14/2006 1:58:45 PM
i'm more optimistic about foster than some...i think he will be fine...i mean is steve smith a question mark after he broke his leg? i dunno i just think anybody can get injured on any given play, i'm just blindly hopeful about the cats haha
4/14/2006 2:01:10 PM
Anyone heard the latest on Arrington? I keep hearing that he hasn't signed with anyone yet, but not why. does he want more than teams are willing to give, or what?
4/14/2006 2:08:24 PM
Smith WAS a question mark after his broken leg but bounced back and had an incredible year.Foster has a question mark because he hasn't gotten back and shown he is healthy, and when he does the question mark will go away.Smith got hurt one year, Foster has been hurt almost every year he's been with the Panthers.
4/14/2006 2:12:00 PM
^^^rb is such a rough position though. there haven't been many backs to suffer multiple serious injuries their first few years, and come back to have a strong career.Hopefully DeShaun will prove nay sayers wrong.[Edited on April 14, 2006 at 2:12 PM. Reason : ^what he said]
4/14/2006 2:12:14 PM
yeah i just figure if fox and hurney and old richardson and all the boys have faith in deshaun, i'll give them the benefit...plus when he IS healthy, he is a beast...dragging safeties 30 yards...dragging the whole eagles team 10 yards into the end zone...running all over atlanta twice last year, etc
4/14/2006 2:13:50 PM
Arrington is asking too much money. Until he's coming down with his price, nobody gonna sign him. (except maybe the Packers.)
4/14/2006 2:14:38 PM
when he is healthy, he is one of the top 10 backs to watch. i have faith in the management/coaching staff too, but when seeing him repeatedly pound it between the tackles, i cant help but worry (even though 2 of his 3 major injuries were suffered while bouncing it outside). i would just feel much better if we had a 235 lb bruiser for the inside running.
4/14/2006 2:25:44 PM
mel kiper is a horrible "draft expert"
4/14/2006 5:46:43 PM
Who are you, Bill Tobin? His mailman knows more about the draft than Mel Kiper[Edited on April 14, 2006 at 5:52 PM. Reason : BT]
