congratulations on your forthcoming sweep

For the long time Mets fans.. I've been a fan since before I could talk but I have NEVER seen a start like this. Of course it isn't legitimized until we face 'that team.' With our bats we should lace their crappy pitching... but then again, it IS Atlanta...Should be some nice crowds again.. we're well on our way to drawing 3.5 million...

Victor Diaz is a god among men
4/17/2006 10:26:39 AM
he sure is a whole lot better than ryan langerhans who is the biggest waste of a jersey in braves history.bring on the bravos baby
4/17/2006 10:42:17 AM
langerhans has been outstanding so far this year, his bat is hot and his defense is superbbut without renteria we're gonna be in troubleand tonight's matchup of pedro v. sosa is a joke

Atlanta Population: 416,474Queens Population: 2,229,379 I would say population density included, the Mets should average more than the Braves. Just like fishing...If you cast into a pond with more fish, you're gonna catch more.
4/17/2006 3:20:23 PM
damn, i didn't realize ATL was that smalli figured the metro area was easily over a million
4/17/2006 3:25:47 PM
Atlanta is well over a million when you start to count all of the suburbs and what not.[Edited on April 17, 2006 at 3:28 PM. Reason : 1000000]
4/17/2006 3:27:29 PM
yea, the atlanta number doesn't consist of the entire metro area...and the queens number is just queens, but as you see that's no slouch.including the metro area and consolidated metro statistical area, it's around 4 million.but if you want to reach that far, NY, NY is over 8 million. So if you're gonna compare attendace, compare apples to apples.[Edited on April 17, 2006 at 3:50 PM. Reason : ]
4/17/2006 3:43:56 PM
so the mets average 4000 more fans in a stadium that has 7000 more seats?oh ok[Edited on April 17, 2006 at 3:50 PM. Reason : ]
4/17/2006 3:49:01 PM
Atlanta Metro Area has around 4.9 million people, and there is not another team in the same area to compete with, in fact there isn't another team within 500 miles!
4/17/2006 3:52:27 PM
Okay, then, the Atlanta Metro Area is 21,965 km2, 28 counties, and there are 5,249,121 people according to the 2005 census. The NY Metro area is 30,671 km2, defined as "the New York-Northern New Jersey-Long Island, NY-NJ-CT Metropolitan Statistical Area", and there are 21,923,089 as of the 2005 census. So, yeah.
4/17/2006 4:00:33 PM
and again, there isn't another team within ~500 miles of Atlanta
4/17/2006 4:02:50 PM
Okay, so you're saying the 21mil. I listed are subject to sharing amongst the Red Sox, Mets, and Yankees. The number doesn't include populations in Philly (5.1 mil in 01) or Boston (5.7 mil in 03) if you want to include the Phils. So assume an equal split among the three, that's 7 million, still more than the Braves pull from in their area.
4/17/2006 4:38:16 PM
Why the fuck are you guys arguing this? The Mets have 16 other professional sports teams within 200 miles of them. The Braves have 3...The Braves can't even sell out playoff games. There really is no argument here guys..** we actually went over this last year and Tampa has the best attendance/metro population in baseball.. in other words this argument if meaningless[Edited on April 17, 2006 at 4:44 PM. ^ There are reasons for that beyond "Braves fans suck!!", but as NyM410 said it was argued in threads here last year and not worth getting back into.Anyway I was wondering if any of you Mets fans saw this clip. If I were a Mets fan, this would be one of my favorite web junk things ever...http://www.sandiegoserenade.com/2006/04/1986_world_series_game_6_reena.html

I was wondering if anyone knew what signal andruw jones made with his hand after he hit the homer last night? Sorry if this was mentioned earlier. I couldn't tell if he gave the finger or what.
