Sooooo what should the warranty be on a valve job? Should the shop repair the clicking valve since they did the valve job about six months ago? The valve job was done around november of last year. The dealer paid $1500 for it. I have the invoice for the work.

It could be clicking because someone dropped the ball on the headjob, or it could be something else. For example, a clogged oil pump pickup can restrict oil going to the top end and cause it to clatter also. What shop actually did the repair work? And which dealership did you buy the vehicle from? I realize it may not have been your choice who did what, but you shouldnt hand your keys over to just anyone when you own a Land Rover. They may be willing to work on it, and charge you out the ass, but very few people in the repair industry know and understand these trucks well enough to preform a quality repair. If you want to get a second opinion on whats up with your Disco, and check out an independant Land Rover specialist, PM me. You might even get a free oil change out of it.

^what the fuck are you talking about? anybody with a couple of years working as a mechanic has adequate experience with them since they are always in the shop.

False alarm. One of the plug wires had slipped off. That particular wire was tight as a guitar string when I put it back, so I am assuming its not the correct wire. Its so tight it had probably worked itself off from the vibration in the motor. The loud clicking was the arc from the wire to the side of the motor. ^^ There is some truth to that, initially when it started fucking up the dealer sent it across the street to some little shop and it sat there for about 3.5 weeks without them even correctly diagnosing the problem. They changed the coil pack and a bunch of other electrical parts and charged the dealer like $600 for that. It still misfired like hell. They finally called the Land Rover mechanics and over the phone those guys diagnosed the problem. I basically told the dealer that I did not want those pinheads doing a major repair on it and by that point he was pissed off over the lost time and wasted money on parts. He had it towed in to Discovery Automotive (Land Rover Mechanics) off of western. I had it back in 3 days and have not had any issues to speak of since.]

..... i mean i wouldn't stand on a soap box and preach about the rover v8 being exceptionally reliable.but then people think v8 bimmers are too.. and i've seen 2 7&540s with warped heads (older ones) with no cooling system issues. (100+k miles though)[Edited on July 12, 2006 at 11:12 PM. Reason : .]

Two old v8 BMW engines with warped heads? Two? Wow that most certianly qualifies an engine as unreliable.
7/12/2006 11:12:29 PM
^^^oh lord, you've turned into a rover elitist already ^^stfu, posts like that further confirm your automotive idiocy.
7/12/2006 11:14:41 PM
I'm not talking about on the internet...i only know about 7 people with bimmers and 4 with v8s...and i didn't say they were unreliable i just said they're not rock solid as some people believe
7/12/2006 11:15:29 PM
yeah, right... because you've known of two with warped heads OMG THE COLD HARD TRUTH
7/12/2006 11:18:17 PM
i mean if yall want to hold hands and play e-bully over some dumb shit... go for it but i didn't really claim anything you're saying
7/12/2006 11:23:21 PM
no one is playing e bully. your constant interjections of mindless bullshit just gets annoying.i could give a shit if you want to call bmw v8's less that reliable, but back it up with some decent info. not some crap like "i've seen 2 with warped heads". that's of course beside the point that this thread has anything to do with bmw's.[Edited on July 12, 2006 at 11:29 PM. this thread is serving some purpose at least, to show what an idiot sumfoo1 isI own both a Land Rover with a V8 and a BMW with a V8 and both are very reliable vehicles.and I am not a rover elitest, just trying to educate some. i too used to think like most folks.

SoooooooooooooooWater all over the passenger floorboard, carpet sopping wet. It is not rain water leaking in because it has been like that even when it does not rain.
8/21/2006 2:17:59 PM
I assume its not coolant... it is fairly common for the AC drains to become clogged up and the condensation backs up in there. Get under the truck and look for a couple of rubber tubes coming through the floor on either side of the transmission, the best way I have found to clear them out is to blow compressed air into them but sticking a long screwdriver up there should release the shit.

everyone hates land rovers. everyone thought that the parents killed jonbenet ramsey too.
8/22/2006 1:20:31 PM
I kinda dig em......They are flawed just like every other make on the road
8/22/2006 3:20:42 PM
right.
8/22/2006 3:22:36 PM
The drain pipe for the AC actually had this thing that looked like the tip of an icing tube on it. It was clogged with horseshit and no water was coming out. I pulled the rubber thing off so the line was open and water POURED out of it. New Issue:One of the turn signal lights in the bumper was full of water and I never noticed it. It stopped working and I recently changed the bulb but it wont work at all still. The light socket looks rusty and I tried to scrape it but the bulb still wont work. I dont think a fuse is blown because the other four turn signal lights on that side of the car are still working.? ]

12v test light is your friend. check advance auto. last time i was in there they were on clearance for like 2.99.see if you have current coming in on the wires to the socket.

Holy shit its pouring out oil. I just parked somewhere for like 7 minutes with it running and backed up and the ground had a huge black puddle surrounded by oil washing away.
10/17/2006 12:14:31 PM
drive it while it all leaks out, then it wont make a mess on the ground under it when you park it.
10/17/2006 12:35:07 PM
It will eventually stop leaking............After it runs out of oil.
10/17/2006 3:03:18 PM
yeah a land rover thats not leaking has run dry.
10/17/2006 3:09:24 PM
It has always leaked a little, this is ridiculous. I put a quart in Friday and it was low again this morning.
10/17/2006 3:17:17 PM
well ill do freelance rover work for you if you want. let me know.
10/17/2006 3:29:51 PM
Range rovers are good vehicles. They are expensive to work on, but if you get a good one (one that hasnt been dogged out) you're in good hands. We have (well my parents have an 03 Range) and its damn reliable. Id say anything under year 2000, might need to be worked on.And I would not advise you to take it to Land Rover Cary. They are extremely high priced. I blew one of my back sub woofers, and they told me 900$ to buy, not even including labor. It just a HK speaker, bascially the same market value of a Bose. like 9 inch factory. There is a place on capital blvd called Carolina Import and Domestic they are awesome. They probably do the best work-at an affordable price (not cheap now) than anyone in Raleigh. The head mechanic that works there races corvettes and use to drive a lambo [Edited on October 17, 2006 at 4:51 PM. Reason : .]

well youre a fucking noob arent you
10/17/2006 4:54:44 PM
they are pretty damn good vehicles tho, right? I mean, i really don't know much about them. I like fucking with the eas systems on em'. Looks pretty rad when that bitch is sittin low.I know those things will also go out on your ass. The newer ones have more reliable systems and parts to lighten the problem they were having in the past.[Edited on October 17, 2006 at 5:15 PM. Reason : .]

I wouldnt have an '03 though, but I would say any '04 Land Rover (other than Freelander) would be a "safe bet".
