What about a petition? We can pass it out the day after class and collect signatures. We can state on the petition that he does not teach us in terms we can understand, has not responded to our requests and constructive criticism to teach in ways we can understand, and does not seem to care that most of the class is struggling to learn simple basics, nevermind the complicated stuff he teaches. We can make copies and give them to him and the departmental heads and demand a change in how things are done. Perhaps if we get enough signatures we can get somewhere.

Slight improvement, but I'm still pissed.rally, you felt it was short. Along with about 5% of the class. The other 95% was straight PISSED OFF b/c that test was entirely too long for 50 minutes unless you just KNEW without a shadow of a doubt how to approach every single problem w/o even trying stuff out.Second, what is this moron's deal with "None of the Above" type answers?! For one of those multiple-choice problems on the front I chose C, I hope that was correct. Geez I want 3 or 4 straight-forward answers you freak. However, I felt good about those since I wrote down like every definition I could find so I *THINK* I got 'em right.Also, why did he even tell us to study chapters 6 & 7? I'd say 90% of this test (if not more) was Chapter 8. What sucked about this is that if you KNEW those "p-values, proportions, Ho,Ha tests, etc." then you ACED this test. However, there wasn't really any older chapter problems to help those who still weren't stable w/ those hypothesis tests and stuff...which isn't too much to ask since Reich refused to hardly teach this section at all during class.I'd say hopefully speaking I got 80% of this test right, however I could EASILY be very wrong. The slight variations of the hypothesis tests freaked me out...I couldn't figure the last problem out to save my life but I got the 1st problem on the final page of problems done w/o a hitch (thanks TI-83, I owe you one).Anyway, it's obvious this guy won't change. We've gotta somehow manage the rest of the semester just stomaching that fact. Hopefully he'll be a generous curver, as grad students are VERY used to high curves. Case in point, my roomie in a 500-level stats. test he took last week said his professor counted any score from 75-100 an "A". Hopefully he'll hook us up at the end of the year. ^ oh, sorry... i think i was the first one outta there but i just assumed people would be finishing shortly thereafter too...once again the practice exam was nothing like the real exam though...in this case he left out all the tricky p value & confidence interval questions though...the only thing that seemed unfair were the 95% Confidence interval questions where it was A) or B) or C) none of the above....also since he didnt actually review for the exam I can understand if anyone had trouble with the Ho and HA questions at the end...[Edited on October 21, 2005 at 2:43 PM. I was only completely sure that I got 2 answers right, and one was because we had a webassign just like it, the other i could do on my calculator. In my notes I had that a 90% confidence interval means that if you take different intervals many, many times 90% will contain the true population mean. That's the definition he gave us, and yet I didn't see any choices even remotely like that. "Can be described by a binomial distribution"....um, hello...what the hell?? Use that same 'old formula for finding a z-value that we've been using in past chapters. Since we want p>0, Use: (p-d's expected value)/d's standard devation. I had (0- [-1.12])/1.015 = 1.12/1.015 = 1.10344That's your z-value. Now, with that on your TI-83's screen, hit: 2nd, VARS, 2. Now type in your z-value, hit comma, then put 'E99' and close the parenthesis. "E99" can be inputted by hitting: 2nd, 'comma button', then 99. This gives you the probability from your z-value to infinity. I got .1349 That's the answer webassign wanted.The book even does a pretty piss-poor job of explaining the problems addressed in this webassign, so I'm terrified to see him attempt to explain it.
