so thats where Adam Kiker went and he changed his name too.

Lost them two in a row now.Better get his shit together before the season starts.
8/11/2005 11:18:41 PM
^^haha, I was thinking the exact same thing
8/11/2005 11:21:15 PM
grrrno Philip highlights on sportscenter
8/12/2005 1:39:10 AM
The worst thing I heard tonight was right after the game, when that ESPN chick said, "There haven't been any highlights since Brett Favre left the field..."

I thought PRiv was decent. Hard to judge against mostly second string. I was just proud to see him out there, getting a little time in and completing a nice ass pass for a TD
8/12/2005 9:17:52 AM
caught the highlights on nfl total access this morning
8/12/2005 9:18:29 AM
someone should get a cap of that TD pass on here
8/12/2005 9:43:08 AM
i noticed that last play of the 2nd half...before the ref moved it...a fucking Packers player kicked the ball...bunch of green bay faggots
8/12/2005 9:47:24 AM
I saw that too, i cant believe the Commentators didn't say anything, i know those bastards saw it too... made Rivers look bad for sliding and taking so much time...
8/12/2005 9:49:32 AM
^No it didn't. No one doubted it was anyone's fault but the refs. That's all the announcers were talking about.
8/12/2005 9:52:50 AM
I'm saying initially when i was watching it and he slid i said "oh no they are going to run out of time and make Rivers' clock management look bad" that's what i meant, then after i saw them kick it i knew why the coaches were so mad... It upsets me that they swept it under the rug and didn't say that the ball was kicked....
8/12/2005 9:55:15 AM
But they DID talk about how it was the right decision by Rivers and how he did the right thing by getting up there to spike it. And they DID talk about how it was the refs getting in the way and moving the ball that made it so he couldn't.But you're right, they didn't talk about the kicking. But still, they praised Rivers on the play.
8/12/2005 9:58:09 AM
All in all, rivers did well. Especially compared with Aaron Rodgers who looked like shit. Lemon made a few decent passes, but they were out of bounds. He was definitely the better looking of the quarterbacks minus favre.
8/12/2005 9:58:34 AM
8/12/2005 10:00:41 AM
Yeah he did excellent and i'm not criticising him at all... He knew what had to be done and he was so close to getting it spiked... he didn't look like a lost puppy out there that's for sure...
8/12/2005 10:02:30 AM
I was kinda impressed considering the negative stuff i had heard from training camp recently. He definatly stepped in there and commanded the offense. Between the dropped balls and poor play calling, his numbers didn't reflect his confidence it seemed. Marty has to start lettin him throw the ball down field a lil bit, those 3 yard outs are killing his yards per game. This isn't state ne more...DB's in the NFL are as fast as the wide outs, hell...the linebackers are as fast as the wideouts...time to start runnin somethin deep pls marty...
8/12/2005 10:13:32 AM
and he is tall enough that he can throw over those guys with his somewhat side armed delivery... Example, the TD pass last night...Also, does it seem like Brett Farve throws the ball harder every year, Jesus.. he knocked his TE down last night...
8/12/2005 10:17:18 AM
^^dude, first of all they probably didn't go deep bc it was raining basically the whole game, secondly, rivers probably has a few options and it's up to him to see if the long ball is there or not, but the main reason like i said is probably bc it was pretty wet. I think he played pretty well though. Seems like penalties and dropped balls ruined a lot of his drives, i can think of a few times when it could've been like first and ten or 2nd and 4 and it would end up like 3rd and 9, but that td drive was impressive[Edited on August 12, 2005 at 10:20 AM. Reason : adfs]
8/12/2005 10:20:22 AM
^^you could see that his height opened the field up for him, he will only get better at checking down on receivers....there were a few times last night when they showed a view from behind the QB where his options were sitting down in a nice hole in the D, but rivers still took the short dump down optionhe will get better at making the right decision, and it looked like he became more comfortable with every playand yes he looked skinny
8/12/2005 10:43:21 AM
^ glad i wasnt the only one who thought he looked skinny
8/12/2005 10:50:05 AM
if by skinny you mean in shape and more agile
8/12/2005 10:57:46 AM
No, compared to how he looked in the 4 years that I watched him play ball at NC State.
8/12/2005 11:27:13 AM
the chargers list him at 228http://www.chargers.com/team/roster_details.cfm?last_name=Rivers&first_name=Philipand gopack had him at 236http://gopack.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/rivers_philip01.html
8/12/2005 11:34:54 AM
I'm just wondering what in San Diego made him become a skin head and decide to join the klan.
8/12/2005 11:36:53 AM
I enjoyed Brees' facial expressions...when Rivers would make a bad throw for an incompletion, Brees would smile and chucklewhen Rivers thrw that touchdown, Brees had a scowl on his face and reluctantly clappedmuahahhah
8/12/2005 11:49:29 AM
probably something to do with the heat.
8/12/2005 11:50:54 AM
yeah, san diego's not that humid, but the chargers' camp is inland a bit and can get pretty desert-like i would imagine
8/12/2005 12:20:37 PM
8/12/2005 12:29:05 PM
theisman was also all over p. riv last night.....and at half they talked about the flawless play of farve and Brees, 2/5 with 20 something yds of passing and an INT on your first attempt is by no means flawless
8/12/2005 12:51:31 PM
8/12/2005 1:01:00 PM
The packers had a lot of their starting DBs still on the field because they suck and are looking for who wants to start...
8/13/2005 1:10:44 PM
im only gonna be like 15 mins from Qualcom so I will be seeing a lot of Chargers action this fall
8/13/2005 1:17:27 PM
i have season tickets
8/13/2005 2:21:44 PM
When Phil took off on that run at the end of the half, he looked pretty quick.Quicker than he ever did here.

He's gonna be on Sportscenter real soon, something about Brees better have another Pro Bowl year or else.
8/14/2005 11:24:22 PM
Well, yeah, of course. But at the same time, it's extremely unlikely that we'll see Phil start this year. Brees had a bad quarter in the opening preseason game, but now that he's shown his talent and built confidence, I think he'll remain good. And this quote from Marty about Kaeding applies as well (from an article on chargers.com):
8/15/2005 12:04:52 AM
if you make $8 million a year, you should be able to get that furry coco puff off your face
8/15/2005 12:35:52 AM
I think Marty will be more lenient with a K in the pre-season than he will be his starting QB in the regular season. If Nate goes out there the rest of the pre-season and performs like he did last game, look for them to make sure they have another kicker by the first game of the season. But with starting QB's you can't really tell until the first game. If Brees goes out first game and has a pathetic first half, Marty would more than likely throw Rivers in the second half.Maybe we'll have a State story, Brees goes down and Rivers has to come in and save the day, and then the rest will be history.
8/15/2005 9:18:01 AM
Ditch Brees! Bring in Olin Hannum!
8/15/2005 9:29:14 AM
i highly doubt that he would put rivers in the 2nd half of the first gamei think it would take 4-6 pathetic starts from brees before they gave the job to rivers. they might even wait until the playoffs are out of the question, which i think will happen this year. i think the raiders will be this years' chargers.
8/15/2005 9:47:59 AM
I agree that it will take more than one half or game for Marty to give up on Brees. If the Chargers get decent QB production (be it from Brees or Rivers), and get Antonio Gates back, I think they should be a playoff team.
8/15/2005 11:13:52 AM
Brees started out slow last year, can easily do it again.
