I didn't dislike Bruce Willis' performance, but he wasn't old enough for the part. It should have been Clint Eastwood, but it would be unrealistic to expect him to take that part.

^ exactly how i feel, i thought he did a great job, but they said he was like 60 in the begining didnt they? making him close to 70 at the end

To quote spookyjon:

some moron who looked and sounded like the wuss clerk on Clerks came out of the theater and immediately started whining to his fat girlfriend when I saw it.
4/2/2005 8:28:59 PM
My favorite on the way out was a girl who said "I didnt like that all the women in the movie were either dikes or hookers"At which point I laughed in her face
4/2/2005 10:04:09 PM
Oh god that guy was fucking lame. I SEE WHY THEY CALL THEM *GRAPHIC* NOVELS KEKEKEKEKEKE
4/2/2005 10:10:43 PM
This movie was awsome.Very refreshing.
4/2/2005 11:10:08 PM
I just got done watching this movie. I came in with high expectations, and I was not dissapointed in the least. I wish there were more movies like this one.
4/3/2005 12:05:00 AM
i though madsen was horrible, murphy was horriblethe movie was visually stunning, and i really REALLY liked Rourke's Marv character. Jessica Alba was just sorta "there," not all that great. Josh Hartnett was good in his few moments, and I thought that Bruce Willis, despite him not fitting the correct age, was really on top of his game here. Benicio was stellar as always. elijah wood was fucking evil.I didnt think it was the best movie i've seen, despite the gimmick of the nuevo-noir look. it was good, and i'll leave it at that. 2 out of 4 stars. not bad, not great.i'm just not a big fan of frank miller's works in graphic novels, so i'm not surprised that this movie, while entertaining for a couple of hours, didnt impress me THAT much.
4/3/2005 1:47:23 AM
i'd do it better, but my scale has more give to it7.9 / 10definatly worth seeing, dunno about how it would hold up under repeat viewings but it was very good the first time through....
4/3/2005 6:27:29 AM
4/3/2005 10:00:36 AM
I agree wholeheartedly with Donny2 out of 4 stars
4/3/2005 10:22:27 AM
i think they nailed the comic book feel/vibe. i thought it was darn good
4/3/2005 12:14:14 PM
4/4 stars EASILY, favorite line in the whole movie (which isnt exactly how it was said, but it went something like) "eatin' people is weird" when marv was talking about elijah wood's character, CLASSIC.
4/3/2005 2:07:07 PM
wtf was up with the black dude witht he adidas pants on. He seemed outa place. oh and the nazi who got shot by the arrow was kinda outa place too. I laughed tho.awesome movie tho.
4/3/2005 2:09:23 PM
^that was the funniest part, man.
4/3/2005 5:24:29 PM
I guess I'd rate it 3 out of 4 stars. Holy shit that movie was violent. I liked most of the characters, but none of them really sucked me in.
4/3/2005 9:55:09 PM

as a avid follower/collector of the Sin City stories and a HUGE Frank Miller fan...i fucking loved this movie.I haven't seen a movie this badass in a long time. There wasn't any lag in action throughout the movie.Very true to the comic books...awesome movie.
4/3/2005 11:07:06 PM
Well I'm definitely picking up the DVD...http://dvd.ign.com/articles/600/600858p1.html
4/4/2005 11:01:35 PM
damn that movie was fucking cool
4/5/2005 12:17:15 AM
Marv (Mickey Rourke) had the greatest lines in that movie. He's one reason why I will watch this movie again in theatres, and buy the DVD.

i thought murphy actually did pretty well in this one, though i may just be comparing her to her other shitty roles and interpreting her being decent as her being goodYeah, Madsen as Bob sucked horribly, i'll definitely agree to thatthey captured the feel of the comics EXACTLY, very good directing, incredible casting, and decent editing, though when Wendy was beating Marv i noticed the blood being in different places everytime it went back to himWood's role made me realize he probably would have made a good Spider-Man tooand GOD DAMN this movie was filled with hottiesit said guest director quentin tarantino, which part of if did he direct?any word on if they will cover any of the other story arcs in other movies?
4/5/2005 3:55:27 PM
^apparently, he directed the benecio del toro & clive owen scene(in the car, talking)of course, bartleby will probably come in and correct me
4/5/2005 4:09:18 PM
Sin City pulled 29.1 million this weekend... not bad for a movie with this much graphic content...IMDB lists the movie budget at 45mil so it should make a profit easily. Rodriguez has already expressed a desire to turn every Miller novel into a movie at some point!! The possiblity of this happening seems highly likely!
4/5/2005 4:21:09 PM
Alexis Bledel
4/5/2005 4:44:54 PM
^as in the dark knight returns and batman: year one?now THAT would be hotoh, and this was a stellar film. I've been reading frank miller books since I was in seventh grade back in like 92 and I always knew they could make a killing on the big screen. I'm glad he's finally getting the credit he deserves.
4/5/2005 4:49:30 PM
I think Rodriguez was talking about just wanting to do all the SIN CITY stories as movies. Darren Aronofsky was at one point supposed to being doing YEAR ONE, but that fell through.
4/5/2005 10:01:45 PM
was the cardinal related to the senator?
4/6/2005 1:04:27 AM
brothers
4/6/2005 1:10:22 AM
PERFECT.but as much as i liked michael madsen in "Resevoir Dogs", he just didn't fit.how many total "Sin City" stories has Frank Miller written and is he still writing them?god this movie better win some academy awards, unfortunately they might get fucked over.
4/7/2005 11:10:48 AM
4/9/2005 1:12:57 AM

^^i think you're right... might be 60.
4/9/2005 12:46:24 PM
Just saw it, I thought it was good, although a few questions:1) Why did Hardigan's partner shoot him at the beginning? I'm assuming he was paid off by the senator or his son, but I wasn't sure.2) wtf was Kevin? Was he just a messed up human? If so how was he jumping all over the place like that?3) Did anyone else thing that the senator's son (when he was yellow) looked like a Ferengi from Star Trek?
4/10/2005 1:02:16 PM
1) yeah, thats why he was trying to talk hardigan out of going in there before backup arrived2) he was just jumping around like that because he was all quiet and stealthy and agile and stuff like that, like a cat or something (he even had the nails/claws thing going on)3) haha, i was wondering why the yellow guy looked familiar, i just couldn't place what he looked like
4/10/2005 1:32:57 PM
did anyone else catch steve buscemi's cameo?
4/10/2005 1:33:06 PM
^^ wasn't he Ben from carnivale? He did look ferengi-like, though
4/10/2005 1:41:16 PM
