I have a hard time maintaining yellow. It just depends what week my 2 PII machines decide to turn in a WU.
10/15/2003 2:42:32 PM
hell yeah we just got more computers on it, can't wait to see how much of ramp they'll give us. Currently third and movin straight up
10/15/2003 3:59:49 PM
might be a while before I post again, my WU is of 2500? Anyone else seen one this large, or what is your largest?
10/16/2003 11:09:53 AM
man whatever happened to minesweeper?
10/16/2003 11:54:22 AM
How many points is it worth? The highest point protein I have had on my laptop is:65 p913_vill_rf_o . I think about a year ago I had some in the 70-80 point range. Here's a list of the current WU sent out by Stanford:http://folding.stanford.edu/psummary.html
10/16/2003 12:32:54 PM
684 171.67.89.150 p684_TZ2_EXT_EXP 6417 21.00 60.00 100 GROMACS Description NA is what I am working on... 100 frames (counts by 25), looks to be a 60 pointer. looks like there are some 70 pointers as well.
10/16/2003 12:50:41 PM
anyone run this on linux? I am looking at a command line that is sitting still, I am wondering how to check the status...
10/17/2003 9:47:37 PM
cat the file "unitinfo.txt" in your foldingathome directory. also run with -forceasm -advmethods for an extra boost on certain platforms.
10/17/2003 10:24:33 PM
quinn is actually under me right now

I submitted a frontpage story yesterday to try to get a few more members. I hope it gets selected.

I see all those unused 2.8 GHz P4s in Mann Hall and I just want to cry. I run a client whenever I'm in there.

10/20/2003 12:40:22 AM
i've lost like 2 or 3 wu.. it sucks... oh well
10/20/2003 1:01:27 AM
Sorry to hear that guys. I've only had about 3 failed WUs that I know about. Here is a list of the most common errors that might be useful:http://forum.folding-community.org/viewtopic.php?t=4824I've never taken the time to post any of my errors on their forum as it does not seem to happen too often. Yes Gary_Palin is rising quicky!
10/20/2003 3:38:12 AM
I hope we find a few more members now with the frontpage pimpage. I hope some of you guys can check here periodically to help with questions new users might have. Thanks.
10/20/2003 11:08:40 AM
KRUZNBY,I am really happy to see that you got it on the TWW Home Page -- thats excellent and shoult help us out quite a lot!How many WUs is The Tek getting for you?
10/20/2003 11:53:10 AM
None. They are their own user. They have only returned 2 WU so far. I'm sure they are busy, so I'm not going to bother them. I was hoping for more from them, but maybe it will just take some time.
10/20/2003 11:57:44 AM
I lost two WU's this weekend. It seems to have been caused by my trying to run two clients... not fun. Might be a few days before I post again... Hopefully some new people will join so we can break 100 by Christmas. Doesn't seem to unrealistic, we just need to speed up the inevitable... I also want to be in the team top 10 by then

If you don't use separate machine IDs when running more than one client in different folders, you crunch the same WU for both and only get credit for 1 WU. I'm not sure if that was the problem or not. Good Luck.
10/20/2003 12:16:34 PM
From your link this is what I think happened. I am going to let it do it's own thing for a bit and not mess with it for a while.
10/20/2003 12:30:19 PM
I was folding for team futuremark, but just switched over to TWW.2.2Ghz of folding power at your service!
10/20/2003 10:20:15 PM
hurray!
10/21/2003 12:29:18 AM
what do i need to do to get in
10/21/2003 12:37:05 AM
Basically the easiest thing you can do is go to: http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/folding/download.htmlDownload the 3.24 graphical client.During the installation it will ask for a username and team number. Our team number is 59.You can pick any username you want. At the bottom of the download link, there is a box to search for existing usernames if you want to be sure you have a unique on.Let the program run minimized and watch your stats rise.*If you are more computer inclined, run the non-GUI version (console). If you have an AMD processor use the 3.25 Beta client found at: http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/beta/beta.htmlThere are more tips on how to increase your production at:http://www.genejockeys.net/Fold&Gene@Home/Good luck and if you have any problems, let me know. Once you show up in the stats, I'll post you as a new member in this thread.
10/21/2003 1:19:20 AM
k, i think its working
10/21/2003 1:27:09 AM
10/21/2003 1:38:38 AM
how much faster is the non-gui version?
10/21/2003 1:44:42 AM
The console is not really any faster except for 2 cases: 1. You leave the graphical window open and it uses CPU time to display the protein ect. 2. You have an AMD processor. By using the 3.25 Beta client you can force it to use SSE optimizations with the "-forceasm" flag in which case you can gain about 15% in performance.
10/21/2003 1:51:30 AM
could i not use the -forceasm tag with the gui version?
10/21/2003 1:54:08 AM
alright i'm gonna let this thing chug while i'm asleep
