Sindarius Thornwell (6'5" SG, top 50 player on ESPN and Rivals) lists us in the top 2, along with South Carolinahttp://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Sindarius-Thornwell-114666http://espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/115889/sindarius-thornwellsounds like he'll be ours

^i thought pretty much everything i read made it seem like SC was the favorites. i hope i'm wrong though.
9/24/2012 1:53:12 PM
Gott will get his paws on him.

9/24/2012 1:58:46 PM
Yeah, Thornwell is from SC and he's tight with Frank Martin, so it kinda makes sense that they would be the favorite. But given the way Gott has pulled in Barber and Washington on their recruiting visits, it wouldn't surprise me if Thornwell commits here on his official visit in 3 weeks.

Sindarius is a really cool name. I hope we get him.
9/24/2012 2:08:19 PM
The kid's family/handlers/whatever are pushing him hard to go to USC, apparently. I'm not getting my hopes up.

Ryan Kelly is ranked #12 overall on scout. So that's a little different than #86.Never use espn rankings they are consistently ridiculous. They always put hype guys like dajuan Wagner #1 and have very little substance when it comes to recruiting (or sports in general for that matter)You guys are seriously ridiculous. Reread my first post where I acknowledge that I'm happy with the signing. You guys REALLY overreacted and started in on the "this is amazing" routine and started raving like we arent accustomed to getting recruits who can even tie their shoes. If he rounds out the class, great. If he ends up a focal point, not so great. We have a potentially WEAK team after this year and if we want to build off our current momentum we need a lot more help than some guy who AS OF RIGHT NOW does not project as a good rotation player on a top 25 team. We are potentially losing CEEJELLOW, ZOBO, WOODROW, FOWELL next offseason. This after losing CJW, Painter, Johnson, and Harris this offseason. In other words, 100% of our freaking team last year. So you guys can rub all the peanut butter on your taint that you want but reality is going to hit you hard next year when mediocre ACC schools are kicking our dicks in the dirt because we are starting a team of heralded sophomores and borderline top 100 freshmen. Our recruiting classed are extremely important this year and next. You guys think because we made one decent NCAA tourney run that we are out of the woods, but that's not how it works. Plenty of teams have had more success than us for longer than we did and are now eating dandelion root supplements instead of steak dinners. Look at villanova. They were sitting pretty and now they are irrelevant like a hot blonde who gained 30 lbs after high school graduation because she couldn't stop eating lucky charms at University Towers and drinking pina colada mix on Tuesday nights at PB's[Edited on September 24, 2012 at 2:57 PM. Everybody knows we need a premiere big man in this class if we want to compete for the ACC title next season. Randle would probably make us title contenders. That said, a starting lineup of Lewis/Barber, Purvis, Turner, Warren and Vandy is nothing to sneeze at. I have confidence that Vandy, as a senior, will be a poor man's Luke Schenscher, and that's not really a bad thing.[Edited on September 24, 2012 at 3:08 PM. Reason : 2]

I, too, am skeptical about the productivity of Vandy and TDT. IMO, they weren't really good off the bench in past seasons; thus I don't see them being great starters, ever. Decent or quality bench players is a possibility. Now, Vandy did contribute some good off the bench, I just don't think it was quality time (when compared to top teams/acc players)[Edited on September 24, 2012 at 3:47 PM. Reason : .]

simonn's girlfriend obviously got tag-teamed by the Wolfpack's International Bash Brothers.
9/24/2012 3:53:07 PM
I think it was a Lowe-era thing, so I'm slightly optimistic. They've been putting in the work, I know that. I have concerns on Vandy's work ethic or otherwise chemistry with Gottfried, but I think a year of development with a good coach and his programs should do well.

Vandy I can see, tdt I can not. He's just too far off and doesn't have the size or arhleticism to overcome his skill set^ No. That's not what I said. And if it was your point would still be unimportant because it misses mine.If everyone would listen a little closer and quit trying to be the cool guy you'd gain a lot more from the wisdom I impart on you.[Edited on September 24, 2012 at 4:10 PM. My point was that he is a freshman last year. Lots of players don't contribute their freshman year.
9/24/2012 4:26:55 PM
Agreed, and he could turn into something serviceable, though up to this point, I haven't seen much potential, which is what we are all basing opinions on. I guess what I'm saying is, through last season, I don't recall seeing any flashes of good play, except against scrubs (though, he didn't get a ton of quality PT) aka, I didn't see anything that makes me think he'll develop into something useful (not that that's required to become so, I just didn't see it, so the doubt, IMHO, is justified; in many other freshman, you at least see something that gives you hope). But let's wait and see. Lol at me being insufferable. Continuous trolling and lack of knowledge is what's annoying around here. How about everyone make at least a half hearted commitment to carrying an adult conversation around here? Or at least be funny if that's too much to ask. Or provide relevant information , updates, or links.
9/24/2012 4:30:14 PM
by "adult conversation", do you mean talking about rubbing peanut butter on your taint, or fat girls drinking pina coloda mix?
9/24/2012 4:33:58 PM
time for us to have an adult conversation.AHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAH

potential 2025 recruit but he also has offers from Lafont and Indiana Basin Silt

I still don't see what anyone has ever seen in Vandy. He has always been straight up lollerskates and if that guy is ever a starter for us then... . Sometimes I think those that hold any hope for him have blocked the memories out of their mind like some kind of effort to deal with the PTSD that came with seeing him turn the ball over 5 times and miss 4 point blank shots in 13 minutes.
9/24/2012 4:49:30 PM
9/24/2012 4:52:35 PM
To piggyback off what Bullet was saying above...I'm not saying Vandy is going to be anything more than a role player for us. And, IMO, we'll be in trouble if he ever has to start. But let's go back to the final 5 games of 2010-2011 (Lowe's last season). The opponents were, respectively, UNC, GT, @UVa, FSU, and MD (in ACCT). His stats in those 5 games:14.6 mins/gm7-9 FGs (obviously, all dunks/layups), 1-2 FTs3 ppg2.4 reb/gm1.2 blocks/gm3 total turnovers (0.6 turnovers/gm)That was definitely his best stretch in his time here at State so far. And obviously those numbers aren't that impressive, but it's not like he doesn't possess any skills whatsoever. If he can play smart, limit turnovers, and rebound effectively then he'll have a role. Hopefully with our recruiting we won't need him to be any more than a role player.[Edited on September 24, 2012 at 5:01 PM. Reason : bb]

im happy with vandy just being useful and eating up minutes with the 2nd team
9/24/2012 5:02:08 PM
TT10 wins
9/24/2012 5:10:10 PM
Vandy needs to go out and foul the shit out of the other team and leave every game with 5 fouls.TDT should be on the same program.
9/24/2012 5:29:10 PM
Luke Schenscher looked like a complete retard during his freshman and sophomore years. The next year he went out and started at center for a Final Four team, averaging 9 pts, 7 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. I don't think it is crazy to imagine Vandy playing close to that level as a RS Senior.
