What Tech Hasn’t Learned From Urban Planninghttp://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/14/opinion/what-tech-hasnt-learned-from-urban-planning.html?pagewanted=1&ref=opinion&_r=1&good read about how tech companies are turning some urban areas into urban dead zones

Yeah, I have a friend in San Francisco who is always bitching about it. It sounds pretty horrible.

When I visited not long ago, my reaction was that it was like Fayetteville St. before it was restored or the state legislative dead zone

Looks like January for Gringo a Go Go and Hibernian Part Deux -According to the N&O, Glenwood South's Hibernian Irish Pub is expected to reopen in mid-January.-New Raleigh noted on Facebook that downtown Raleigh's Gringo A Go Go won't fully open until January.http://trianglefoodguy.blogspot.com/[Edited on December 20, 2013 at 9:11 AM. Looks like a great space, and they are getting rid of one of the shittiest buildings on the street to do it.

All the shops across the Bell Tower seem to have moved on. What happened? Building buyout?

So, what's the deal with Death and Taxes? It was supposed to open back in the fall.
1/8/2014 11:45:11 PM
^I am not sure the actual restaurant was supposed to open in the fall. Goodnight completed the building project in early fall, and I am sure it will take AC and company some time to get the space plan completed and implemented and a working restaurant opened. and this: http://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/blog/2014/01/sale-of-charter-square-site-approved.html

Damn, Groucho's is gonna open until March

^and^^ Formula 45 sauce is the heat though. I have only ever been to the location @ 5 points in Columbia. Didn't even know that it was that large of a chain. Should be a good addition, and nothing wrong with extending Hillsborough street a bit, if the food is good...folks will walk another 15 steps.
1/10/2014 11:46:06 AM
Weird location for Groucho's. Would think they could find a better spot.
1/10/2014 2:06:01 PM
Strange that they picked a location so close to David's as well!
1/10/2014 3:12:37 PM
They're going to be cheaper, faster, and closer to campus. They just Chipotle'd David's.

I'm kind of shocked that Moore Square would cost almost $15 million to renovate. It's not that big and it's mostly grass and sidewalk...
2/18/2014 3:55:43 PM
Its basically starting from scratch with earthworks, and is adding structures. Where did they pull those pics from, did they post the plans online? I'm going to try to take a look at the budget, because I haven't built much park stuff but my guess would be closer to half that.

2/19/2014 3:33:43 PM
if I were homeless, I'd hang out there like a mofo
2/19/2014 4:07:52 PM
The homeless epidemic would end if we stopped building parks and turned existing parks into parking lots.
2/19/2014 4:11:08 PM
or, you know, if we gave them housing
2/19/2014 4:17:33 PM
or move all the soup kitchens and stop giving them money when begging

or concentration camps and genocide
