I'm gonna see if I can install OS/2 and get true multitasking before 4.2 hits.Take that Apple!
10/29/2010 12:34:46 AM
The gold master of 4.2 is out for devs today. Pretty sweet, can't believe the I used this thing without "fast app switching"
11/1/2010 10:13:42 PM
Had someone ask about using a different browser on the iPad today, a quick Google search didn't return anything productive. Are there any good alternatives to the built-in iPad browser yet? They are trying to access an internal website that works like shit on anything that is not Firefox or IE... which is surprising to me, but they humored me and showed it fail in Chrome, Safari, and their iPad (Mobile Safari?).Thanks.Oh, and they are willing to jailbreak if that will help them.[Edited on November 4, 2010 at 10:08 PM. There are a few browsers in the app store just have them look at them ad decided based on reviews or whatevs. Although they are all webkit based so most likely won't find anything other than some tweaks and ui enhancements
11/4/2010 10:44:30 PM
I tried out the A1 perfect browser (Looks like they recently changed the name to just Perfect Browser) and liked it a lot better than safari. When I formatted a couple of weeks ago I didn't bother to reinstall it though so take that for whatever it's worth. I think it allows you to change the agent string to spoof being another browser. While I can't imagine that would fix every problem, the reviews suggest that it does help some sites that won't display properly in mobile safari. Maybe they'd have some luck with it?]
11/4/2010 10:58:27 PM
I have been doing some demos off of one of our work iPads and I'm highly impressed with it - been running the 4.2 beta because before iOS 4 apple didn't support MDM
11/6/2010 3:41:37 AM
Damn we get true multitasking and I'm going to lose my iPad. Changing jobs, and the new one I doubt is going to hook me up with an iPad, and maybe not even a laptop or cellphone either.
11/6/2010 8:19:57 AM
^But if you'll be making twice what you do now, can't you just reward yourself by purchasing your own personal iPad?Thanks all for the input on browsers, I'll check it out.[Edited on November 6, 2010 at 9:26 AM. Reason : .]

Yes eventually, but I will need to prioritize my spending for a little while, so I will need to save up and pay off some hints and not go and spend 500 on an iPad.
11/6/2010 1:28:29 PM
im newly interested in the ipad for work reasons. this might be a dumb question but is there a way to "present" using an ipad? i often have the necessity to show a quick presentation or spreadsheet to a group of people and the current way is to fire up the laptop. thoughts?
11/6/2010 5:14:58 PM
You can present using keynote pretty well. It's pretty simple to pass around graphs and figures and such.
11/6/2010 6:19:03 PM
^It's funny you say that because the top 3-4 reviews right now of Keynote are all 1 star reviews and they all talk about how ass-a-riffic the presenting is in Keynote. I haven't used it myself, so I can't say one way or the other.
11/6/2010 7:45:33 PM
^ I haven't used it since May but it suited my needs then.
11/6/2010 9:52:19 PM
wouldn't an hp slate be more appropriate for something work related?
11/7/2010 2:33:16 PM
^ If it existed, maybe.
11/7/2010 5:15:29 PM
So I need to find an iPad case to keep it safe from a 5 year old. Before you say "keep it away from the 5 year old" I can assure you it is for legitimate educational purposes but I can't disclose them here. Anyway, what would be the most protective case on the market right now? Thanks!

I'm sure you all know, but iOS 4.2 was finally released today
11/22/2010 3:22:58 PM
looking forward to loading it up on my ipads when i get home
11/22/2010 4:03:49 PM
Updating now. Will report back ASAP. Even if I only get to keep it for one more week.
11/22/2010 4:41:59 PM
Had to restore and refresh but it's back up now. So far liking the differences in mail where you can view all your inboard at once, and it groups your emails by conversation. Web browsing is nice because it shows how many open windows you have too, so that's cool.
11/22/2010 7:50:18 PM
woman at work just got an ipad and asked me if the following app exists:she gets a call on her phone (not an iPhone), and wants to be able to "transfer" it to her ipad and use the speaker on there to talk. So basically its a glorified speakerphoneif it exists, I dont know of it...
11/23/2010 12:03:23 AM
I'd say no, didn't check but as far as I know it's not.
11/23/2010 9:05:24 PM
sometimes i think i want one of these instead of the netbook i have...persuade mei have an iphone 4 already
11/24/2010 8:19:29 AM
Sometimes I think I want one, but then realize a new one will be announced right after I buy one.\/ Yeah, but it's moreso true in Apple's case. To purposefully withhold tech.[Edited on November 24, 2010 at 9:24 AM. Reason : ]

Has anyone tried AirPrint on a windows machine? The directions below supposedly work but I can't authenticate to my personal machine when trying to print to it's local printer. I've tried numerous combinations.http://jaxov.com/2010/11/how-to-enable-airprint-service-on-windows/
11/24/2010 10:05:24 AM
^I've tried it but can't get it to work. Finds the printer, authenticates fine, but nothing ever prints.
11/24/2010 10:45:02 AM
Just got our iPad yesterday. We found ourselves laying in bed at night or sitting around the den browsing and doing things on our android phones. Decided it would be nice to have a big screen until one of the nicer android tables (asus) comes out next year.Like it a lot so far. Been playing the hell out of plants vs. zombies.

Onlive for the iPad!!!http://www.onlive.com/#1
12/8/2010 5:37:27 PM
Does anyone have the flickering screen issue when using wifi? It's really annoying.I always have it on the lowest brightness and it's really noticeable. On another note, the galaxy tablet is really nice. Worth getting one if you can get it at a discount. The 7" form factor works well and it's so much lighter.
12/11/2010 1:14:28 AM
12/11/2010 9:04:28 AM
yeah more ram, cameras, wireless n, no sd card slot, lighter case back, (maybe - plastic/composite frame), better screen.
12/11/2010 9:52:20 AM
They already have wireless n. How much does th aluminum back weigh anyway? I don't see a change to composite really making that big of a difference in the weight. Seems like the batteries were the largest contributor to the weight. I could see some sort of composite frame but a composite back seems to weak against flex. Wasn't their recent composite patent for a frame or was it a full case?

half the featurestwice the priceeight times the marketing
12/11/2010 4:47:18 PM
^ At the risk of feeding the troll, which tablet is it that is better than the iPad while having half the cost? Surely you're not talking about the Galaxy Tab that has an even higher entry cost. Wait, I got it. You're waiting on one of the pieces of vaporware that have been "coming soon" for the last 6 months. Until then, at least the other tablet manufacturers can be happy to know that marketing is the reason that their tablets are failing and not the fact that they're all pieces of shit.
12/11/2010 9:22:37 PM
it's a troll. don't bother respondingmessage_search.aspx?type=posts§ion=3&searchstring=marketing&username=aaronburro

Yeah, the iPad and AppleTV 2 have 5.0 Ghz N while the iPhone4 only has 2.4 N
12/12/2010 5:00:35 PM
I want to pick up the ipad...but I want skype and cameras to work. I never usually pickup the first generation of apple products. The second generation shall be mine, wifi version.
