highland had their cold mountain release party just this week i think. it's out in bars, to be followed by 22 oz bottles in stores then 12 packs (at least in asheville, not sure about bottles elsewhere). it is again, as it is every year, freaking delicious.
11/5/2011 8:28:42 AM
I'm going to be up in the mountains this weekend, going to look out for the Cold Mountain Winter. These were my selections from Brawley's last weekend. I have decided I really like Scotch Ales. Haven't tried BB yet or the Sam Adam's one, but the Bellhaven and French Broad were tasty.]
11/9/2011 1:55:25 PM
i am total anti-Sam Adams EVERYTHING
11/9/2011 7:15:09 PM
Picked up a 4-pack of the Founders Breakfast Stout yesterday. That stuff is pretty damn good. Also got a 750 of Ommegang Adoration (Belgian Dark Ale). Haven't cracked that open yet.
11/9/2011 8:13:05 PM
I have Adoration sitting in my fridge, let me know how you like it.

Boston Beer Co. (Samuel Adams) is the largest craft brewery in the U.S. it shouldn't be put in the same boat as the AAL aka MacroLager category with the other crap that's brewed in the states but it commonly is.Their Boston Lager is pretty decent at #2 in the Vienna Lager category and Sam Adams Light is the #1 Light Lager... both are great for their respective categories. Now if you want to get down on the Vienna Lager and Light Lager category than that's fine, but for "what they are" Sam Adams is pretty good.Their imperial series is pretty good as well. There are times when I'm at a cheap bar with limited options, and I THANK GOD, Samuel Adams is widely distributed.... as it's the only beer I have the option of sometimes.[Edited on November 10, 2011 at 2:07 PM. Sierra Nevada's new spring seasonal:

double post. For those of you familiar with Skull Coast beers around NC, looks like it may be awhile if ever that we see them back on tap anywhere. I have it on good authority that there were some internal issues between the owners and brewmaster and apparently the brewmaster has left the company and taken the recipes along with him. At this point there is zero production from Skull Coast right now. That means no Gallows Point porter ]
11/16/2011 2:17:04 PM
^bummer...I liked the porter and the IPA.
11/16/2011 2:18:08 PM
Got 22's of Sweetwater Sticky Nugz, French Broad Anvil Porter, Highland Black Mocha Stout, and Hoppyum from Bottle Revolution. Also got a 750 ml Rogue Double Chocolate [Edited on November 22, 2011 at 10:06 PM. Reason : ]

I had some Chimay the other night and thought it was great. It was a bit expensive but I really liked it.Tonight I'm drinking Red Stripe for the first time and its not bad but I wouldn't add it to my list of things to drink often.
11/22/2011 10:13:40 PM
Picked up 22's of cold mountain and fort collins double chocolate, along with a 6 pack of highland black mocha stout.... winter beers

Picked up some Founders Breakfast Stout at Bottle Revolution just now. They had a good deal when I was there.
12/7/2011 10:27:35 AM
A new spot opened up in Morrisville called Triangle Wine Co. GREAT beer selection... first place I've been around here that is actually competition for Sam's. Pretty decent prices, too.
12/7/2011 1:22:34 PM
Anyone have recommendations for Stouts that aren't heavy on the coffee flavor. The weight of the Founders Breakfast Stout was awesome, but the coffee taste that you finish with was too much for me.Young's Double Chocolate Stout is pretty tasty, but looking for more variety.
12/7/2011 2:13:58 PM
^Southern Tier Choklat is quite tasty but definitely on the sweet side.
12/7/2011 2:24:08 PM
does it need to be a stout? try Highland Oatmeal Porter. it's one of my go-to beers lately.
12/7/2011 2:53:53 PM
ive got Victory Storm King Imperial Stout & Terrapin Wake-n-Bake currently in my fridge. I love the hop profile in the storm king...really packs it for a dark beer.
12/7/2011 3:57:37 PM
Storm King was the original Black IPA.
