Considering that they have stated there will be a ~3 week delay b/w the blu-ray and hd-dvd releases from now on, I would say this announcement is just a matter of semantics (release/ship date).

Did you really expect more from Fanatik?I thought that by going over to blu ray i'd be paying less for movies since the combo hd dvd's include a dvd premium. I was sadly mistaken. I'm still paying $30 a movie unless I get a sale or BOGO deal.

^^ But hes actually right...not referencing that most recent article.http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/01/11/warners-remaining-hd-dvd-support-will-include-a-three-week-dela/I Am Legend, for example, will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on March 18. The HD-DVD version will be released on April 8.[Edited on January 24, 2008 at 7:54 AM. Reason : -]

Everyone knew there was going to be a gap between the Blu-ray and HD DVD releases. The news release they just put out says that they will release HD DVD titles for three weeks longer than they had initially intended to release HD DVD titles. This isn't rocket science here.
1/24/2008 7:58:32 AM
maybe there isn't a correlation. maybe i was wrong. no need to so defensive about it.
1/24/2008 12:10:46 PM
fanatik telling someone not to be defensive about something? hahahahha
1/24/2008 12:19:36 PM
and also admitting I could be wrong. You should try it sometime.

yeah and some stores had clearances on the a2 and a3 models. however, this could be making room for new models to be released. well i am just gearing up to get my bluray, once this is over with! but for now i will get as many hd dvd as cheap as possible and in hope that if and when the hd dvd dies that i can get as many titles that i can at clearance prices.
1/28/2008 8:15:55 AM
yep, i'm not buying and more HDDVDs untill theyre CHEAP. unless i really want it.I still have yet to find a bluray i want to buy interestingly enough. I've gone to BB twice and nothing caught my eye.
1/28/2008 8:31:50 AM
circuit city started clearing out their hd-dvd players + movies over the weekend.
1/28/2008 9:36:28 AM
purchased 300 on blu-ray this weekend. I never got a chance to see it in theatres so i bought it to watch on our completely new system. It absolutely blew me away. i'll probably watch it again before the week is over.
1/28/2008 9:49:16 AM
^^ they had the a3 and a30 on clearance, NOT hd dvds. get it right http://i25.tinypic.com/fn4etl.jpgthis could be a move to get in new models. lets hope so! well it really doesn't matter to me, becasue i will have both formats eventually anyway.[Edited on January 28, 2008 at 10:23 AM. You are defending a dead format, Stein. It's useless resistance. Everyone else has moved on. You're being stubborn. Please, forget this whole HD DVD thing never happened so we can all be friends again.

I'm posting links to articles, but I guess since they don't extole the glory of the Blu-ray and instead give more insight into the charts you kids love so much, that's defending it.Very well, the limited intelligence of you Blu-ray fanatics continues to shine. I guess I gave you all too much credit.[Edited on January 28, 2008 at 2:33 PM. Reason : .]

WTF, Circuit City's website says "available for shipping only" under all their HD DVD's so I can't see which store has the movie I want in stock.

I think it'll be a tough decision for BBC to drop HD-DVD support. Planet Earth appears to be one of the best selling titles on HD-DVD.
1/30/2008 3:28:15 PM
It sells equally as well under blu-ray. People just like seeing that in HD, no matter the format. Moot point.
1/31/2008 8:01:56 AM
I got a crazy deal on an open box Samsung BD1200 blu-ray playerfor like $80 with tax. Of course no box meant no free 5 movies but stillworth it i think
1/31/2008 9:03:22 AM
Just get both and enjoy all the movies. If a person can afford to have this type of thing, I'm sure they can afford both. Just get a Xbox360Premium+HD-DVD drive and a PS3 and you'll be covered. You'll then realise that owning movies in HD is pretty fucking stupid if you don't plan on watching them 3x+ Then, you realise that you should probably just rent them. Then, thats its not worth the trouble waiting for netflix or finding BB's pisspoor selection. Then, just watch SD movies on your upconverting PS3 or streaming them to your 360.Until the 7.1 surround sound starts taking off, this whole HD format is pretty worthless IMO.[Edited on January 31, 2008 at 9:33 AM.
