Nice! Great news. I just saw it on twitter as well.[Edited on September 23, 2012 at 9:53 AM. Reason : 66th in ESPN's Top 100]

#82 on Scout, 4*Not bad, keeps us from total emergency territory down low if we miss on other guys, but he's not so good that he'd scare off other top prospects from committing.Pretty nice offer list including Florida, OSU, Marquette, and Wisconsin among several others. Also we seem to be building a great pipeline at Brewster Academy which is always a great thing at solid prep schools.Hopefully we are building another monster class here. GOTT DANG WOLP FACK

That's awesome.I'm sure there are people out there that feel dissapointed that he's not a burger boy possibility. The reality is that any player ranked in the top 100 is a phenomenal get. Especially considering we're going to have 5+ scholarships to hand out.

phenomenonal is getting a little carried away.big men who barely crack the top 100 are almost always of the Deshawn Painter / Jordan Collins variety. They are in the top 100 because they have more size than skills.Occasionally you'll get lucky and they can develop into a starter, but normally they are just depth on successful squads.Considering we are completely void of big men next year though I'm okay with this signing. However, we are on the radar of practically half of next year's top 40 so it's important that we don't give away scholarships too willy nilly.
9/23/2012 10:23:23 AM
^Having a Painter would be crucial for this year's team. Also some posts on PP seem to suggest the staff think he's underrated, and I'm starting to trust Gott's eye for talent. We still need 2 more big men at least in this year's class. Would ease up if we could get one more big that way if we missed on Randle in the Spring we'd still be fine.
9/23/2012 11:11:28 AM
I watched a video of this kid the other day and he reminds me a little bit of Marcus Melvin. I like him a lot and I think he's about to rise in the rankings. We need a couple big men in this class and it's not like you're going to get two of the best in the class....they aren't going to want to compete against each other. If we can pair him with a Randle/Meeks/Anya type guy...then this class will be awesome.Good get.

wait a second, did we just get a 4 * big man?impressive
9/23/2012 12:35:45 PM
Should Coach Early be retweeting all this stuff about Kyle Washington committing? Isn't that pretty close to an NCAA infraction?]
9/23/2012 12:57:14 PM
message him and gently tell him to cool it
9/23/2012 1:01:03 PM
Lol at some being less than thrilled about getting a 4* big man. From what I've read many think he is going to rise in the rankings some upon the next time the redo the rankings. Also he may be bigger than the listed 6'9". A guy on PP who talked to him at the game said he was noticeably a few inches taller than CJL and was probably closer to 6'11". I hope we can get either one of Randle/Meeks/Anya, but I can't figure out who would best compliment Washington.I knew Washington liked us, but I didn't expect him to commit anywhere until after taking his other visits.
9/23/2012 1:08:13 PM
Excellent news! No way you can complain about a top100 4* guy.
9/23/2012 1:14:11 PM
hIGhLIGhts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1S8aHRP_6_wLooks like he has a decent shot and ball-handling skills for a big-guy.
9/23/2012 1:31:01 PM
Sounds like he runs the floor and scores in transition well for a big man. Could be a good complement to Purvis, Car Barber, and Lewis and good fit in our up tempo style we are building towards. He needs to add strength and his post game could be a work in progress, like just about any young big man. Also, I'm sure compliance is following all of our coaches' twitter accounts and will advise coaches to cool it, if in fact anything is close to the line of NCAA rules. This is Debbie Yow's athletics department, not UNC's.[Edited on September 23, 2012 at 2:11 PM. Reason : .]

Nice pickup. A lefty big man. Hopefully he can develop into a decent shot blocker. Looks to run the floor well.

This is a very critical pickup for us.Great job by the staff
9/23/2012 7:34:24 PM
I'm pleased with this pickup
9/23/2012 8:10:53 PM
Not only is he a big man, but I imagine he'll be a four-year player for us. As we (hopefully) continue to recruit high level players, we'll need some guys like Washington who will add some stability to the program when guys like Purvis/Barber potentially leave early.

from the zags blog, our new "director of player development" Coach Farmer gets some props from Washington.

Washington can be that glue guy
9/23/2012 9:32:45 PM
That's good news about Thornwell!
9/23/2012 9:33:45 PM
He's also listed at Oak Hill. It would be great if we could start to develop a pipeline there with the talent they bring through that school. Getting one of their guys who's a top 50 player two years in a row can't hurt.

http://www.verbalcommits.com/schools/nc-stateanyone else used this site? friend showed it to me the other day, i like how it compiles data/updates from many of the recruiting sources and also the format it uses to show the info. not sure how fast it updates for things like the Thornwell news, but I sent them an article where Tyler Roberson left us off his top 6 and they updated it within a half hour or so.
9/23/2012 9:37:02 PM
^cool website. never seen it before.saw this on twitter...it's nice to read stuff like this:

the guy that made that site is just a random poster on packpride. just a fyi. it's neat but keep that in mind

^^^^^ I don't really care who made it as long as he's conglomerating from reliable sources.
9/23/2012 10:40:19 PM
ya, he's just combining info from the three major recuiting sites. not much bias in that
9/23/2012 10:42:16 PM
oh okay. then good news all around.
9/23/2012 10:43:35 PM
if you read this thread or any recruiting thread on PP you'll have all the info on that site and then some. pay premie somewhere and you can find out how we aren't even actually recruiting a lot of those guys anymore, and haven't for months.
9/23/2012 10:47:01 PM
9/23/2012 10:52:38 PM
i've subscribed to both rivals and scout.com, and for long periods of time too. neither were ultimately worth it, at all. especially now that twitter's so huge.
9/23/2012 10:52:46 PM
^Agreed.
9/23/2012 10:54:26 PM
^^^^ there is very little, if any, concrete info in this thread that is not available on that site in an easily referenced format. i would assume that if that dude is a random packpride poster, that he'd also include any substantiated info from pp on his site.[Edited on September 23, 2012 at 11:00 PM.
