Not a cruise. My brother is getting married and so we decided to make a vacation out of it. Still need to actually plan and book it though. Im kind of afraid it's going to turn out to be unremarkable. When they moved they were excited and then it ended up being like any other town. But really cold.

I'm thinking I will go ahead and do it, too. $10 isn't bad, and I can cancel if it sucks.

Well, at least going in the summer ensures that you can enjoy some nice hiking. Just be sure to plan some exciting outdoor activities, like kayaking or hiking. And there are really neat native american reservations, mining communities and national parks that are fun to explore.

Whereabouts in Alaska?

i cut WAY back on washing my hair and am now down to only washing it 2 times a week. it definitely took a while (i started last summer). i started with skipping a day and then slowly progressing into 2 days and so forth. i still work out everyday and just blowdry/flat iron my roots after and its fine. what i found is that when i put product in my hair when i initially blowdry (after washing it) i keep the product away from the scalp. this definitely helps and has made a huge difference.

i also have thick, wavy hair. it's on the fine side but also tends to be a bit dry which is why i think i can go so long between washing it now.

After cutting my hair I've noticed mine is getting oily faster, and it is flaking! I stopped the Moroccan oil and used the dove shampoo instead of my fancy argan oil shampoo, but still have an oily, flaky scalp.

So, I've gotten my mom a 3 month subscription to Wine of the Month club before. Is there another better option or is this a good enough one? She likes wine and I might get it for my sister too.

I've had to switch to head and shoulders in the past. Use for a month and I'm back on track, but I've never had oily and flaky at the same time.

So, I washed my hair with the Aussie cleanse and mend that I keep in the guest room. Hair feels good and looks good. I will give it a few days before I call it a success.

Yes, you are getting a play by play on the status of my hair.

Also, what are this year's swimsuit trends?

Why not just buy her a couple bottles of some mead? http://starrlightmead.com/ makes some good stuff and they sell it at a couple places in the triangle.

Flakes...grab the head & shoulders.

I use it every time I wash now bc of eczema at my scalp, and that has since stopped. I also don't condition my hair now that it's short. Don't see the need for it and that can certainly make your hair more oily depending on the type of conditioner. Detangler occasionally, but no need for conditioning.

My hair feel so much better after the Aussie cleanse and mend, but the flakes are back this morning. Buying some head and shoulders tonight.

So far I have been fairly surprised with my hair not being as gross and intolerable as I expected. I have also tried to mostly avoid the blowdryer. On the non-baking soda days, I have still been wetting my hair in the shower. That may be a no-no but oh well. Yesterday was a "wash" day, and it doesn't look nearly as oily as it usually does 24 hours after it's washed. So I guess this is working out OK so far.

have you gone to a dermatologist, elise? it could be some psoriasis. at the very least the dermatologist should be able to prescribe you a shampoo that should help.

Mine is still going way better than I expected. I do feel like my hair is a little thicker, and it is darker. I didn't really think that would happen so quickly, if at all. I am doing the baking soda/acv every other day and water rinse the off days. Today is a no-wash day and I'm about to go for a run, so Minka, I'll let you know how that works out.

i only wash my hair twice a week now and i work out everyday. my hair, believe it or not, has held up very well after work outs. if i'm going somewhere, i'll blowdry and restyle the roots just so they don't get wavy/frizzy, if not, i just take my hair down and let it air dry and deal with it in the morning

i don't do the no shampoo thing like Swinks, i still use Tresemme shampoo

Semi on topic: I've noticed my kids only tell me I'm pretty on the infrequent days I've washed/dryed my hair in the morning. I think they're on to me.

if you do keep using Head & Shoulders, rub it into your scalp and leave it there for a few minutes

this helps the active deposit on your scalp a little better (plus they sell a "clinical strength" that has 2% active if you want to give it everything you've got)

how did it go? Today is my first wash day (after I run)

The salon used so much product on my hair yesterday that I feel like to I really need to wash it out.

also, what are you doing with your hair at night? Are you worrying about the oil getting on your pillow? I think I might wear one of my mom's chemo hats which is kinda funny but it's for sleeping http://www.amazon.com/Hats-Heart-Lace-Sleep-beige/dp/B000R2DOQI
but this is kind of a bluish color. Is that weird? I just hate getting my pillow icky and having to wash my case every other day to make sure I don't breakout

It was fine. I water rinsed it after I ran. It is getting a little oily looking but not nearly as bad as I would have expected. I worked out this morning just washed it and it's still wet so I'm not sure exactly what it's going to look like today when it dries.

I just realized I didn't answer the sleep question. Wash days I sleep with it down and haven't thought about it much. Non-wash days I usually have it loosely pulled back and sleep with it that way.

I am curious if the texture difference I notice is temporary during the transition or permanent. I guess it's for the better mostly, but I'm still not used to it.

update on my 2nd keratin treatment: I still love it. my hair is so soft. took about 5 minutes (total) to completely straighten my naturally curly, thick, poufy hair.

i got a keratin treatment done this summer and i love it. my hair is still in great shape and doesn't frizz like it normally would. it's been about 6 months since i had it done and it might have grown out some but not too much that its noticeable.

i have a scab on my chest. it is really tiny and at first i thought it was a pimple (it is pink) but it has been there for a few months now and it doesn't heal, just keeps scabbing over.

i know i should go to the dermatologist but my health insurance just got dropped (didn't work enough hours this past year to qualify as full time) and i'm worried that if it is something serious i won't have enough money to cover the treatment.

any of you ladies had anything similar?

i have something similar on my hand. it was a freckle that kind of moled/scarred over when i got chicken pox. i ended up getting chicken pox on the freckle and it then turned into this scaly mole looking thing. it has gotten darker over the years but hasn't spread or anything. i tried to show it to a dermatologist when i was in college but she said it wasn't a big deal and just keep an eye on it.

I am now on one week no 'poo. Today was a non-wash day. Here's what my hair looks like after water rinse and mostly air drying. I tend to get tired of a damp head and finish it off with a few seconds of blowdrying. I also haven't used any other products or anything this week.

My hair is naturally super straight and never really gets frizzy. But especially at the ends it tended to get that dry, overworked look to it, which has gotten way better.

lol my hair is exactly the opposite of that naturally, so this should be fun to compare!

are you doing 1 tbs, baking soda 1 cup water and 2 tbs acv, 1 cup water? and how many days inbetween?
