I don’t blame you for choosing to tune out State sports. Sports fandom can easily become an unhealthy thing. And I don’t wanna pretend that I have all my sports emotions in check and handle all outcomes reasonably. Read my posts during the game threads. I am usually irrationally angry about the refs or some shit like that. I’m not trying to run you off. Just trying to put this season and yesterday into perspective. It’s a coping mechanism for me that tries to keep me as reasonable and level headed as I can be. Also, like you, I’m pretty numb to the losing. Sports can’t hurt me. I’m already broken.

Yeah maybe I’m too harsh on that. He’s brought in some ballers both from HS and through transfer. And also done a good job developing guys. Seabron is a major success story. He went from unplayable to a legit pro player. I guess it feels worse than it really is because the early returns on his recruiting (HS and transfers both) seemed really encouraging but it’s felt like a drop off in years 3-5 (with the exception of T). Just missing on dudes in the portal like Wyatt Walker, Dixon, Lockett, Thomas Allen. Not sure any of those 4 guys belonged in the ACC. Missing on HS recruits feels more forgivable but bringing in transfers, when you have years of college film on them, and those guys being busts is more frustrating. But the guys he brought in this year were a huge improvement. I guess that’s just the nature of CBB now. With so much attrition, it’s tough to fill the roster every offseason. And if a couple top targets commit elsewhere then you gotta scramble to pick up what’s left. Also. Just looked back at the 2020 class. 5 man class. Farrar, Hayes, Shak Moore, Gibson, and Ebe. Woof.[Edited on March 18, 2023 at 1:24 PM. Reason : A]

To be fair that is the class the was supposed to have Hall in it. If he hadn't gotten some idiot in his ear super late telling him to go pro, it would have looked a look better with him instead of Gibson.Still that's two borderline starters on P5 teams and a guy playing pro ball in *checks notes* south africa I think Lockett was fine as a grad transfer. He was brought in as depth and provided some shooting off the bench behind a deep group of guards. Sure he didn't set the world on fire, but it's hard to argue that he was bad. Now Danny Dixon and Wyatt Walker absolutely did not belong in the ACC. But Al Freeman was really good, arguably just as good as any of the transfers from this year]

Losing Lecque, Bey and Yurtseven hurt tooNumerous players that left without any real prospect of nba but that's modern basketball I suppose.

I don’t remember much about Lockett. I looked back at Locketts stats. He played way more mins than I remembered. I misremembered his time here. Everybody has injuries but man it feels like we’ve some significant injuries to major players recently. That hurts. It makes guys play roles they weren’t really ready for. I was thinking recently that we had too many one dimensional players like Gannt, Ebe, even Burns (although he’s incredibly good at his one dimension). But when i remembered that Clark spent significant time injured and Dusan was out for like 2/3 of the year then it kinda makes sense. We weren’t expecting Ebe to play significant mins this year. We expected Gantt (who’s had lots of injured himself) to be a bench player specializing defense and rebounding. And none of us were expecting Burns to play 30 mins/game. Maybe we’ll get some injury luck to go our way next year.

Maybe T inured his desire to go pro
3/18/2023 6:15:39 PM
But how will this weekend’s loss impact our NET???
3/19/2023 11:46:53 AM
That's the real question
3/19/2023 2:09:52 PM
Gotta root for Creighton to win out so it doesn’t tank any further
3/19/2023 3:58:19 PM
Only acc vs big 12 match-up didn't work out so well for big 12. And their #1 seed is toast too.
3/19/2023 5:16:26 PM
were there any inuries in that game?

3/20/2023 10:54:31 AM
by my mathThe big 12 is exactly twice as good the ACC The ACC is on par with the Ivy League, CUSA, Pac 12, B1G, and WCC.[Edited on March 20, 2023 at 10:56 AM. Reason : W]

I'm not saying acc is necessarily better (although they did handily win the only head to head) just that the big 12 is maybe not the dominant force the NET and other rankings thought!
CONFERENCE RECORD WIN PCT%ACC 5-4 .555American 2-1 .667Big 12 7-5 .583Big East 7-2 .777Big Ten 6-7 .462Mountain West 2-3 .400Pac-12 3-3 .500SEC 9-5 .643West Coast 3-1 .750

I don’t know enough about how the conference ratings are calculated. But it does feel like a self fulfilling cycle. If you look good in Nov/Dec then your metrics get built up. Then you play the rest of the season vs your own conference so you just continue to build up your inflated metrics or your conference opponents that sucked ass in OOC (FSU, UL) drag down your conference metrics. The ACC was clearly down this year. But i also think it feels flawed that so much of this gets baked in in Nov/Dec. Especially in this era where teams lack continuity and probably take longer to gel and reach their peak

Terrible way to end the season.#KutKeatts

I want to apologize to rwoody for my insinuation that he was one of the worst tww users. It was a mean joke. I’m reality, I find him to be one of the top 50 tww users (among active users).

Ebe in the portal. Hopefully a positive sign for Dusan and Burns coming back?Although tbh, we won’t miss him no matter who returns. [Edited on March 23, 2023 at 8:38 AM. Reason : A]
3/23/2023 8:36:26 AM
Hopefully a positive sign for rebounding and offensive basketball for our team... But seriously, I appreciate him being a fill-in for injuries over the last couple of years and always playing hard.
3/23/2023 8:39:25 AM
Based on MYWHORECHICKs instagram, i dont think hes coming back but who knows

^^He’s supposedly already started the medical waiver application process. He also got married recently (to a US citizen) so he’ll be able to take NIL money now (he hasn’t been able to due to immigration/VISA regs).

I saw a bunch of people on Twitter saying Mahorcic's Insta post was a clear sign he wasn't returning, but I didn't really read it that way. IMO it was pretty similar to Burns' but everyone took Burns' as a sure sign he was staying
3/23/2023 11:38:50 AM
I thought it was already said that we are pursuing a medical RS for Dusan. In which case…there must be at least a chance he wants to return. If he didn’t wanna return we wouldn’t waste time
3/23/2023 12:19:48 PM
Man how will we ever replace the centerpiece of our offense Ebenezer Dowuona?
3/23/2023 12:38:37 PM
He's our rim protector, just protects the wrong rim
