so whats the final verdict on last night? before i waste all day looking at clips and reading transcripts.
9/13/2019 7:51:31 AM
Letting these for profit media conglomerates run the debates def has major problems. Thats one place I can agree with Earl.
9/13/2019 9:15:52 AM
So I'm not sure if his quote was taken out of context, but it sounds like Beto wants to come for AR-15's already in one's possession. Regardless if Beto really even has a chance at winning this thing, Trump could use this as a rallying cry..."See? They really DO want to take your guns"
9/13/2019 9:31:04 AM
i'm gonna need to wait until i see what all the millionaire journalists being paid by billionaires think before i decide who won
9/13/2019 9:37:33 AM
^^ I believe Beto actually wants buybacks. To your point though: Republicans have been saying that since forever, regardless of the actual Democratic position. Not sure how this time will be materially different. And let's not pretend Trump (or the rest of his party) gives two shits about the truth. If Trump thinks it's to his advantage to say something, he'll say it.-]

My favorite part was when Joe said that parents need to turn on the record players for their children.... Joe knows vinyl is making comeback![Edited on September 13, 2019 at 9:54 AM. Reason : and gosh, I don't enjoy watching Karmala talk]
9/13/2019 9:52:35 AM
^he was implying that black people don't know how to raise their kidsthis debate sucked ass. sanders and warren won the medicare part, everything else was a bunch of people lying about what they'd do in office.
9/13/2019 10:41:09 AM
After three debates, the race is still like a mess. Can't find a REAL challenger still.
9/13/2019 10:47:47 AM
Earl is so bizarrely obsessed with CNN. It’s odd.
9/13/2019 11:05:19 AM
YOU MEAN THE CLINTON/COMMUNIST NEWS NETWORK?
9/13/2019 11:54:51 AM
collusion news network
9/13/2019 12:04:50 PM
I mean, it sucks, don’t get me wrong. But not because it’s a conspiracy or anti-anything. It’s just click-based horse race garbage. Just accept it and move on.
9/13/2019 12:29:56 PM
9/13/2019 12:36:34 PM
We can expect the next debate to be marginally worse because it has the same 10 people plus Steyer
9/13/2019 12:48:27 PM
It's sort of like American Ninja Warrior. Anyone who has the courage can give a try. The survivors advance.

I think probably Castro and Warren and Bernie are my 3 top choices.Castro would have the toughest time beating Trump though largely because of his racial background.^^^^All primaries should have a ranked choice voting, plurality is complete insanity... the worst possible way of choosing someone in this situation[Edited on September 13, 2019 at 5:42 PM. I’m basically constantly on twitter and I can’t figure out why people are talking about Biden being a lifeguard or someone from snl said something racist about yang. Anyone have a summary of what these are about?
9/15/2019 6:23:35 PM
Bidenhttps://twitter.com/EddieZipperer/status/1173196985085677569?s=19And Yang went to bat for the new snl guy that uses racist language in his podcasts

Tbf, it appears the bizarre Popcorn story was real. I’m not sure if that’s better or worse.[Edited on September 15, 2019 at 7:05 PM. Reason : But I do know it’s not good we have to suspend belief to believe a presidential candidate]
9/15/2019 7:05:05 PM

9/15/2019 8:45:04 PM
im definitely voting for biden now.
9/16/2019 7:24:31 AM
if only we could get to the bottom of how a supreme court nominee paid off all his debt as fast as we could dig up cornpop's obituary
9/16/2019 8:33:18 AM
So looks like Castro, Kamala, Warren and Pete have called for impeachmentSanders said he supports "any appropriate constitutional mechanism to hold him accountable."Biden had some vague statement of criticism

Over 20k at a Warren event in NYC tonight
9/16/2019 11:41:27 PM
Earl is HA Goodman.Warren is looking like she is starting to consolidate a bit. Wouldn’t surprise me to see her leading Biden on average after the next debate. I’ve made it no secret she’s my preferred candidate at this point.
9/17/2019 8:29:01 AM
she has a higher upside than sanders, she makes more sense i think if you try to wade into "electability" arguments, but the WFP endorsement is still dumb

9/17/2019 10:36:31 AM
I guess my question would be outside of the (consistently) top 3 since like ever, what candidate might rise up? Or is this eventually heading toward a 3 way between Biden/Sanders/Warren anyways? Everyone else playing for VP?
9/17/2019 10:09:58 PM
^Harris could still come back with a good showing in Iowa. If Biden keeps bumbling his way through debates and press conferences the centrists might be looking to her for stability. But otherwise no, everyone else is done.
9/17/2019 10:54:27 PM
It's still 9 months before the DNC 2020. So still plenty of time to find your favorite candidate. And the next debate in October even may expand back to two nights.
9/18/2019 9:18:51 AM
The October debate has 11 qualifying candidates now that Tom Steyer bought his way onto the stage. And could be even more that qualify, Oct 2 is the qualifying deadlineCNN/ABC haven't officially announced that it will be 2 nights, but I would be surprised if it's not. More airtime to get paid for ads[Edited on September 18, 2019 at 9:22 AM. Reason : .]

There was controversy a few months ago about Pete Buttigieg having fired the police chief in South Bend after he became Mayor. Some new information has come out on this event. Wonder how much this will affect his campaign? Honestly surprised it hasn't been talked about more
9/18/2019 10:29:45 AM
Summary?
9/18/2019 10:33:33 AM
white people didn't like south bend's black police chief so they had donors and buttigiegs campaign chair lobby to remove him. buttigieg acted like he wanted to get to the bottom of things and know what was on the recordings but wasn't allowed to, but actually his lawyers listened to the tapes in 2013.it's all a bunch of well documented corruption, i don't think anything directly involved buttigieg but he went along with things

If the green party isn't a threat to reach any key thresholds, I'll probably hold my nose and vote for Warren in a general (wouldn't tell my friends on the left), but I''m hard on her typical supporters because of their reasoning. To me, there is no acceptable reason why someone who is actually progressive would prefer Warren over Sanders. They are actually just a bunch of moderates who want itsy bitsy change. Heres the list of reasons I've heard and please feel free to add yours if its not on there-She's a woman-She's a better speaker-She's younger-She has laid out detailed plans-She's a capitalist-She will be best for the middle classMost of the people who relate with her are the wealthy and educated big city liberals who know progressive values are best but at the same time, don't want to do anything too disruptive to the advantages they get by being middle class. To the actual left, the existence of a middle class is offensive because it implies a lower class as well as an upper class in addition to that middle class. We don't want a middle class. We don't even see things that way. Theres a working class and a capitalist class. We want to do things to help the working class as well as people who aren't able to work.If your vision for America is capitalism with more regulation sprinkled in, you are supporting WarrenIf your vision for America is continuing Obama's legacy, you're supporting BidenIf your vision for America is a radical shift towards social democracy, you're supporting SandersSanders is going to get a huge chunk of the delegates, and so are the bottom dwellers. Unless something catastrophic happens to Biden (which i dont see the republicans releasing until a year from now), he's going to get a big chunk as well. I just don't see any way this doesn't end in a contested convention with superdelegates choosing the nominee.
9/18/2019 12:21:13 PM
I'm split between Warren and Sanders as my second choice behind Yang, though I find myself leaning toward Warren. I def have some reservations about her (just as I do for Bernie and Yang too), but I also feel that a lot of Bernie supporters in particular are overly dismissive of her, call her a neoliberal trojan horse and stuff like that.[Edited on September 18, 2019 at 12:59 PM. Reason : there are no perfect candidates. but there are def many candidates who I'd rather see POTUS vs Trump]
9/18/2019 12:58:40 PM
9/18/2019 1:14:31 PM
I'd vote for Warren in the general but imho she's just a very watered down version of Bernie who would appoint a cabinet slightly to the left of Obama. One of the big reasons I'm excited for a Bernie presidency is because of who he'd hire into his administration. His foreign policy and economic advisors are actually pushing boundaries, and that's a big deal.
9/18/2019 1:36:34 PM
^^ good point^ i have a similar impression. bet that's why warren uses the "big structural change" slogan all the time, to counteract this perception.[Edited on September 18, 2019 at 1:39 PM. Reason : .]
