To be fair Jo and Fred wouldn't even make Costa Rica's starting XI. Almost unthinkable they are leading the line for Brazil...

Absolutely correct. They're both garbage. It's just funny that they are personally hated when the issue is with the Seleção system. We're talking about a side that, within the past 25 years, has produced Romario, Bebeto, Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaka, etc. Fred can't even sniff their jock-straps. But that's not his fault. That's the fault of the Seleção system altogether.

This Brazil team isn't good. They've looked pedestrian all tournament, and it's really a miracle they made it this far, when they could have easily have lost to Chile and Colombia. If we're thinking "classic" Brazil sides, only Neymar would crack those starting XI's. Maybe Oscar? but he's been terrible all tournament, so that's unlikely. Brazilian soccer is in a state of disarray right now, and they need to get their shit together soon. They will, no doubt, but it's been fun to watch these South American giants finally get their comeuppance for not respecting the rigor required at the international level.

Lol at the the Brazil "defense" giving Blind three touches from the penalty spot without getting close to him.

Should be nil nil. Robbe deserves the Suarez ban and Dutch were offside on the Luiz debacle.

And David luiz should be in the locker room if we're playing that game, we all know what that would mean for Brazil.

Silva should be on the locker room off the red. Luiz should be in Paris and nowhere near the field.

To be fair...Brazil has missed some fairly point blank finishes on crosses.

I guess. Oscar was falling before contact... in fact it almost looked like the dive created the contact.

It was a poor challenge. He was nowhere near the ball and stepped on Oscar's foot.

Oscar may have made a meal of it, but it's nothing worse than Robben has done, and probably will do again before I hit "post reply"

Today is the biggest match Messi will ever play. He's already going down in history as one of the greatest players of all time, but if he comes up big this afternoon they'll be singing his name in Argentina 50 years from now.

[Edited on July 13, 2014 at 9:29 AM. Reason : that being said, it's hard to bet against germany]

I don't expect he can score.
As long as he can lead Argentina to win, it means everything to him.
Big day for him!

Well, if fans give a superstar too much pressure to score in a world cup final game, he may not be able to handle the pressure well and passes out like Ronaldo of Brazil in 1998.
The world cup final is MUCH bigger than NBA finals.

You mean the Ronaldo that scored two goals in a World Cup Final?

So all the single elimination games have started at 4pm...and this one is starting at 3 pm, correct? I feel like they've been trying to dupe people and saying the game starts at 3 pm, when its always just the coverage. But they're not being as clear on this one...and I'm trying to plan out my afternoon errands.

^^ Yeah. But that's 2002. Before that in 1998, he passed out before the final.

I think they adjusted the time a little bit because in 3rd-world countries like China, it's 3 am midnight. Instead of 4 am dawn. So they make fans' lives a little bit easier.
Probably there will be 1 B Chinese fans watching this game.

I doubt there will be 1B Chinese watching this game. Unless I misunderstand FIFAs viewership reports from past world cups, China had a peak single-game viewership of 66 Million in 2010 which actually had fallen from a peak viewership of 71 Million in 2006. A jump to 1 Billion for this single game would be crazy. Now, their cumulative viewership over all of the games is outstanding because the available market is so large, but I don't see a peak viewership of 1 Billion from 66 Million last time.

Lastpost before final. I hope Germany wins. Only because of Ozil, Per and Podolski... but honestly, I don't dislike Argentina so wouldn't be heartbroken if Messi won. I hope its open...

Yep I'm actually fine with either team winning; I just hope it is a decent game. I have Germany 2-1 and would probably prefer Germany to win, but if Argentina wins I hope Messi scores at least once.

My main problem with soccer is that all the players act like faggots and take the finesse out of the game. When a player is on a break away, his opponent will grab him or push him from behind, killing the sequence. When a player is barely contacted, he flops and grabs his knee like a pussy.
If contact was part of the game like hockey it would be different, but it's not supposed to be played that way.

Is Aguero injured? I don't understand how Higuain has gotten the starts over him. I think Aguero is much better, more creative player.

Schurrle had one good run/touch all game and it won the game.

Schweinsteiger MoTM. Kroos shows he is inflexible. Awful all game out wide as Ozil played more centrally for first time at World Cup.
