United win the Penalty Copout!

Isn’t it ironic that Darren Fletcher was the only Man Utd player not to shit himself in that shootout?
1/22/2014 5:55:57 PM
I think Mata improves United a ton. It will be interesting to see them with Mata/Rooney/RVP all healthy.Still think that back four and Moyes is the anchor that holds them back though.
1/22/2014 6:15:34 PM
Mata is a small step below world class but is very good. He would walk into 99.9% of starting XIs in the world. But he is kind of redundant with Kagawa in United's setup. Surely this makes Kagawa expendable or it means a change of philosophy.I think a Gundogan is what they desperately need in the midfield less than a true AM like Mata.[Edited on January 22, 2014 at 6:21 PM. Man, United sucking is really really really new to us supporters. Thankfully being a State fan has helped me relate to it and cope. Thanks Wolfpack!
1/22/2014 6:23:15 PM
Lol, Salah to Chelsea.Mourinho trolling is next level.
1/23/2014 11:00:06 AM
not even madLFC doesn't need to buy a winger. They need some damn fullbacks or a decent DM.
1/23/2014 11:18:53 AM
Liverpool could probably get Song on the cheap
1/23/2014 1:16:00 PM
Song is the type of player that I think United should go for
1/23/2014 2:29:10 PM
I'd lolve it if United got Alex Dimitri Song Billong
1/23/2014 3:36:29 PM
Mourinho still being a twat this morning.
1/24/2014 8:46:48 AM
No mention of Wenger being one yesterday?
1/24/2014 9:15:47 AM
Pellegrini agreed. And Wenger generally gets called on it but the media can't sprint quick enough to lap Mourinhos bullshit up.

To the people saying Mata mean more as a signing. No he doesn't. The guy has serious talent and he is only 25. Mata is an instant upgrade. United lacks creativity. Januzaj is the only one doing anything on the pitch with Rooney and RVP out. Mata adds much needed creativity. Kagawa has had decent performances but he hasn't lived up to expectations really. Next step is to get in a box to box midfielder like Matuidi or Song. If United can get either one in January then it would be one of the best transfer windows IMO and would really set us up for a top 4 finish. The defense can be addressed in the summer.
1/24/2014 1:06:19 PM
Mata is the equivalent of sticking your thumb in the hole that sank the titanicyou're not making the top 4
1/24/2014 1:15:05 PM
1/24/2014 1:42:45 PM
lol. United have more experience and quality in their squad than Spurs and will certainly be making a push for the top four. Mata is one of the cogs that United needed and filled. I am sure Moyes will follow it up with a midfielder either in the next week or a midfielder and defender next summer. This isn't just a sign of intent it is a very good deal for United.Aimorris I never said you meant Mata sucks. Sure United could have used a world class midfielder but who is available to come in right now? Mata is the best quality player United could have bought at this point in time. If there is quality available you go out and get him. RVP wasn't necessarily needed but boy was he worth it. Once RVP and Rooney are back (should be very soon) United will have one of the best attacks. I believe with Fletcher and Carrick in the middle it could work pretty well. Would work even better if Moyes can get a decent midfielder like Matuidi.[Edited on January 24, 2014 at 8:21 PM. Reason : .]
1/24/2014 8:20:28 PM
Ozil was available in the summer and Moyes passed. This is a panic buy and United got lucky that Mourinho is cocky enough to sell him midseason. Mata is a class player but I personally don't see how he pushes them to 4th place. I guess we'll see.
1/24/2014 9:31:47 PM
Spurs midfield and defense are still better than United.Of course when healthy United's attack should be on par with City but with little class to get and keep the ball behind them.I see no good reason to think RVP will be anything but banged up given his history as he ages.[Edited on January 24, 2014 at 9:55 PM. Reason : carrick is out for a month, no?]
1/24/2014 9:55:00 PM
Moyes was new to the squad. Maybe he had enough faith in Kagawa? Maybe he felt his wingers like Nani and Valencia would not have shit seasons? If you think this is a panic buy then you obviously don't know about Fellaini. Fellaini was Moyes' 4th or 5th choice. The fact is Mata isn't a panic buy, it is a quality buy. United haven't messed about here chasing lost causes like Fabregas. Mata is the best player available currently for a team that desperately needs creativity. Some people will go to ridiculous lengths to hate on United. Any other team buys Mata and he would have been a great signing. United buy Mata and its a panic buy. lol. Was Ozil to Arsenal a panic buy? They sure as hell didn't need him. RVP wasn't necessarily needed by United. Lewandoski wasn't need in Bayern. Isco wasn't necessarily required by Madrid. You buy quality when quality is available, especially when your team needs it. Yes Man United need a defensive midfielder like Martinez at Bayern more than Mata but with Mata United have also addressed other needs. You sign the best players as they become available, no big name midfielder is available currently, its as simple as that.
1/24/2014 10:00:44 PM
Mata isn't going to save United...and anyhow, it's not like they suddenly lost all their quality players when SAF leftin my book, the current problem with Man U isn't the squad, it's the manager. the only thing that's going to save United is if Moyes somehow whips them into shape and contrives to get them playing like their old pre-Moyes selvesby the way, it was really cute to see them score a classic Man U late goal a few nights ago, and then catastrophically fail in the shoot-out. wonderful stuff ]
1/24/2014 10:03:17 PM
I'm not reading that wall of textI'll just assume you were blindly defending United at all costs
1/24/2014 10:03:38 PM
Its ok ribs, I hear the flat tire on the corvette has been briefly fixed by a mechanic from Togo.United didn't lose all their quality players. United lost two they relied on the most. Without Rooney its pretty obvious that United lacked quality. Hell an 18 year old has been the most creative in the United team for the last month. When Rooney, RVP, Jones, and Carrick have been fit United have played some good football. The defense has been an aberration though. Age is clearly a factor. If Rafael can stay fit though, Smalling has proven to be more than capable in the center. Could use a replacement for Evra but that can wait till the summer.I don't see how having Mata to add to a front three of RVP, Rooney, and Januzaj could possibly not improve United. Rooney is more than capable of dictating tempo with a midfield pairing from two of Jones/Fletcher/Carrick. With the way Welbeck has played this year, United miss Rooney more than RVP IMO. If we can keep Rooney, Jones, and Mata healthy this team has more than enough quality to finish in the top 4.[Edited on January 24, 2014 at 10:11 PM. Reason : .]

of course Mata "improves United" but that isn't exactly hard to do this season
1/24/2014 10:38:26 PM
1/24/2014 10:58:54 PM
I see some ignoring of the fact that RVP was far and away United's best player last year. And yeah i actually do think Ozil was a luxury buy for Arsenal (Cazorla is fine as a CAM and probably close to Mata level) when presumably other things were needed more. Arsenals back line is still one injury away from average and Giroud is average himself but it would be a catastrophe if he went down. Arsenal got good fortune with Ramsey finally living up to his potential after his injury and the weak points remaining relatively healthy.** and stop acting like RVP is just coming to go back as before. He has been healthy for 2.5 years now but let's not forget his history and the fact he is now in his 30s...[Edited on January 25, 2014 at 6:21 AM. Reason : X]

Chelsea-City and Arsenal-Liverpool in FA Cup.Crazy that draw for fifth round.
1/26/2014 12:46:53 PM
Congrats on advancing Gunners
1/26/2014 1:04:09 PM
Love that draw. Some entertainment for the neutrals! How ridiculous is Arsenal's february though:Feb 2 Arsenal v Crystal Palace Emirates StadiumFeb 8 Liverpool v Arsenal Anfield Feb 12 Arsenal v Manchester United Emirates Stadium Feb 15 or 16 Arsenal v Liverpool Emirate StadiumFeb 19 Arsenal v Bayern Munich Emirates Stadium Feb 22 Arsenal v Sunderland Emirates Stadium Make or break February again for Arsenal. I believe they should just focus on the league here. Don't think they have a shot at the champions league, the FA cup might be a bad distraction. City and Chelsea are right on their heels. Advantage is that Arsenal is at home for most of these matches. Don't believe Wenger is going to care about the FA Cup fixture as it is sandwiched between United and Bayern.EDIT. (Damn, Arsenal's March doesn't get any better either)Mar 1 Stoke City v Arsenal Britannia Stadium Mar 8 Arsenal vs Swansea City Emirates StadiumMar 11 Bayern Munich v Arsenal Allianz Arena Mar 15 Tottenham Hotspur v Arsenal White Hart Lane Mar 22 Chelsea v Arsenal Stamford Bridge Mar 29 Arsenal v Manchester City Emirates Stadium Apr 5 Everton v Arsenal Goodison Park[Edited on January 26, 2014 at 2:01 PM. whoaaaaa check out Arsenal's schedule for the rest of the year!!!! They're playing a lot of games against some teams that are good and some that aren't. Some are even home games!!!
1/26/2014 2:05:46 PM
As it turns out, there wasn't too much wrong with the corvette. It was just the Portuguese driver.
1/26/2014 3:02:49 PM
aimorris since your team isn't in the champions league I can understand why the importance of each fixture and the way they fall (especially in midweek) is lost on you. To be playing 4 top 8 teams in a row in March is nothing short of brutal. Its ridiculous that you believe it has zero effect on a team.
1/26/2014 3:06:20 PM
Bayern/Spurs/Chelsea/City/Everton all away in a row is a tough stretch[Edited on January 26, 2014 at 3:07 PM. Reason : get your CL jokes out of the way now, cause that's over shortly]

OK, repeating this gem.Liverpool will be at home for the Champions League round of 16 first leg. They'll be at home for the second leg too.

Ribs I fully expect you to disappear if United do make champions league.

1/26/2014 8:06:03 PM
Smart fans that know about meddling or lack there of.
1/26/2014 8:14:32 PM
They should be mad at their shit, aging defense. And Tom Cleverley.Funny, I didn't hear much about the Glazers last year.
1/26/2014 8:51:55 PM
Vidic is leaving at the end of this season. Rio will play peripheral role. Evra is leaving for France(I think). So given time, Moyes will bring in new blood.
1/26/2014 9:25:52 PM
Ok everyone, drop everything you are doing. RIBS is an oracle and he knows what the table will look like in May. Ironic that he is calling me a child when its pretty clear all you are doing is desperately hoping United don't make the champions league. The rhetoric was cute at first but its just turned into embarrassing. Not really surprising given Ribs' lack of shame while discussing footballing topics anyway. Oh look its the anti-glazer bandwagon. I am not going to bother explaining how the Glazer ownership isn't as black and white as fans make it out, especially because I have done so already and the point was completely missed by short-sighted fans who love to point fingers.
1/26/2014 11:46:06 PM
Nice banner, wazza.
1/27/2014 7:37:31 AM
^^The best emotion any sensible United supporter would have to the Glazers is ambivalence. They haven't interfered with the club so far only because they haven't had to. If Roman was owning United, then even he would have sat back and let Sir Alex run the club. Now we do know that they haven't done a very good job with Tampa as a franchise since Dungy built that team. Hope they don't do the same with United.[Edited on January 27, 2014 at 9:29 AM. Reason : ]
