So what you are saying is they offered balanced viewpoints? I'm still trying to figure out how this helps the middle class as Newt proclaimed. He couldn't articulate it. You'd think the left leaning NPR would have tried to nail him on that.

After thinking about it for a second, Fox is probably more popular, since we're comparing weekly averages v. prime time averages. That's to be expected, though, given that they're two separate medium. But speaking of Fox-- MSNBC + CNN are usually about equal with Fox's total numbers (and this is excluding the "liberal" broadcast news reports)And even still, conservative media has a near monopoly on punditry.
1/21/2010 9:55:46 PM
38 pages wow 38 pages of liberals bashing Fox News and conservatives defending it.But one thing I don't get is when you bring up the Haiti thing being discussed more on CNN and MSNBC's primetime lineup compared to Fox News is funny.First off what happened in Haiti is tragic but really how long can you talk about devastation and show bodies on the street. Its not like the world is blind to what is going on. Fox News also knows that while things are happening in Port-Au-Prince, the health care debate is still on going. Or perhaps Washington should stop what they are doing because of what happened in Haiti. Americans are already doing a whole lot to help. Don't think that CNN and MSNBC aren't doing this Haiti coverage for ratings, plus both networks aren't against the Democrats Healthcare reform.

For every major liberal pundit you can list, I'll list five conservative pundits.
1/22/2010 10:47:00 AM
Fantastic, but even if it were true that it's 5:1 I hardly think that constitutes a "near monopoly" on pundits. No show that wishes to address "both sides" of an issue have any difficult finding a talking head republican and a talking head democrat. Yes, Fox News is undeniably slanted towards the political right, but that hardly means that there is some dearth of left leaning shows on other cable news networks.
1/22/2010 12:51:56 PM
I'm not talking about a dearth of liberal slant. I'm talking about a dearth of liberal punditry.
1/22/2010 12:56:58 PM
Like I said, if you even need one they aren't hard to find.
1/22/2010 12:59:57 PM
That has zero bearing on their total number. Or whether liberals listen to the ones that do exist.

So, I'm guessing Beck and O'Reilly won't be having that dude who posed as a pimp to "expose" ACORN on anytime soon. Just saying...

I know, right. I want to hear more about this story, lol.
1/27/2010 6:01:28 PM
^^^^ I think Fox has clearly shown themselves to be the least trustworthy, but I don't really trust any of the TV news outlets much to begin with.I'm surprised the numbers for republicans though are so high for Fox. And I think it's humorous that the article phrases it like Fox ISN'T part of the "mainstream" media. I guess though it's this type of shoddy syntax that helps Fox always seem like the "underdog."[Edited on January 27, 2010 at 6:23 PM. Reason : ]

you only think that because you don't agree with their politics.Have you forgotten the 60 Minutes fiasco? Where forged documents were posted as real ones without any real attempt at verification, with the clear and obvious intent to try and sway an election that was only 2 months away? Come on, dude.

Between Fox and Friends, Hannity, Beck, and O’Reilly, there’s no way any rational person can say that the other networks are equal in nuttiness. It has nothing to do with “politics” with these guys, unless you think seriously questioning the president’s birth, saying the president hates whites, saying the president supports terrorist (especially in the climate of the world today), saying the president is communist, and doing so on a regular basis is plain, old, irrationality. It has little to do with partisanship. The 60 Minutes thing was pretty disgusting, but it was very, very quickly determined to be a fake. The only ones you can really consistently pick on are Maddow (whos show i don’t and wouldn’t watch because of her voice), and Olbermann.
1/27/2010 7:35:28 PM
"very very quickly determined" by who??? And the media was largely silent on it for the first week or so hoping the issue would go away (like how they successfully played the Acorn story)[Edited on January 27, 2010 at 7:38 PM. Reason : s]
1/27/2010 7:38:10 PM
haha, hell, with Beck, alone, the nuttiness is hard to refute. But my point is only to say that the other networks are just as biased, and you only see fox as being "horrible" because you dislike their viewpoint. BTW, O'Reilly is hardly nutty. If anything, he's the most balanced guy on FoxNews

Does anyone else watch Fox news as if it were satire? Well, whenever I do watch Fox news that is. But yeah, IMO, Fox news is evil in the sense that they prey on the less intelligent/less informed.
