I ride all the time. This weekend will be no exception. Also, who wants to buy my SV650?
2/19/2011 12:20:34 AM
I might be really interested in a couple months. FYI.
2/19/2011 12:41:34 PM
So it turns out that first gen SV650's electrical systems suck. Who knew?I was prouder than proud to have successfully adjusted my own valves, and then the R/R decides to short out.I'm swapping it for an '05 CBR600RR's R/R.[Edited on February 19, 2011 at 10:06 PM. Reason : ]
2/19/2011 10:04:06 PM
hmm, never had a problem. i had actually always heard that Honda rectifiers were problematic (although maybe that was on older ones, like late 90s/early 2000s).
2/19/2011 10:13:14 PM
To be fair, even my "failed" R/R only requires me to use a trickle charger once a week to avoid a dead battery. The fix is cheap if your R/R isn't already burned out, though. Essentially, power comes from your stator -> unsealed harness -> unsealed harness -> R/R -> unsealed harness -> starter relay -> battery. It's only about $20 to make it stator -> sealed harness -> R/R -> sealed fuse -> battery

2/22/2011 10:32:19 PM
I bought these HD steel-toe boots that are pretty rad. they look sexy enough to wear around daily but are built to riiiiideprobably not really ideal for a sport bike though. i was just actually impressed that they weren't POS overpriced junk with the HD name on them, actually a solid product

2/23/2011 9:27:50 PM
I saw some idiot drop his bike turning onto Gardner from Hillsborough St yesterday. Somebody fess up.
2/24/2011 7:29:29 PM
With gas prices going up to $5/gal, I am going to be forced to ride to work this summer. Not too bad of a deal if I didn't have to get on I-40. But its about time to change the oil and get'er ready for the road.
2/24/2011 7:35:37 PM
^^ I don't have a bike yet. maybe next winter So not me!
2/24/2011 7:44:07 PM
I drove my car to the gym once this week, and drove my truck to get some dinner one night last weekend.Other than that, every trip I've made since last Friday has been on a motorcycle.
2/24/2011 7:45:57 PM
Did 300+ miles yesterday, rode up to Virginia and back, pretty much all back roads.
2/27/2011 9:48:14 AM
is there a feeling* better than hanging all the way off and then power-wheelie-ing out due to masterful entry speed/gear choice? *that doesnt involve your sex bits [Edited on February 27, 2011 at 10:39 AM. Reason : clarification]
2/27/2011 10:39:28 AM
Dude, I have an ex500. I popped the front wheel up shifting into 2nd a couple times. Is that what you're talking about?
2/27/2011 10:42:59 AM
anyone up for a fast ride today?
2/27/2011 10:50:27 AM
Depends on your definition of fast.[Edited on February 27, 2011 at 11:25 AM. Reason : srsly, TWW ride this afternoon. Who's in?]
2/27/2011 11:19:28 AM

3/4/2011 2:07:18 PM
Also wantBut not at that price
3/4/2011 2:23:32 PM
Idk, I might be willing to go pretty close to that simply because those are rare as all get out. that is a fantastic piece of design work.
3/4/2011 3:41:58 PM
what's so special about it besides being rare?
3/4/2011 6:40:04 PM
If you need to be told, you wouldn't get it.
3/4/2011 6:44:43 PM
Not really that rare. I've seen a few around, and there's still a large community for 900F/1100Fs (the 1100s are the rare ones). But they're the biggest, most-refined, last wave of UJMs. So if that's your sort of thing, they're the absolute tits.
3/4/2011 6:44:58 PM
dont even know what UJM stands for. as an aside, im about to go kill several hours safety wiring my bike for 1 race tomorrow and 2 races sunday

^^ Universal Japanese Motorcycle
3/4/2011 6:53:14 PM
They're no slouch either. The 900s, F or C, were one of the first CBs to put down an honest 100hp. You could get that from the KZ1000 of similar vintage, but it didn't have the refinement, both mechanically and aesthetically, of the Honda. The 1100Fs were more powerful, obviously, but less dependable and less refined. It's like the relationship between the BMW K75 and K100. As Ernie said, it's hard to beat if you're into the pinnacle of vintage all-purpose motorcycle design.
3/4/2011 7:07:01 PM
^only way to beat it would be to add fuel injection and ABS brakes like my 07 1250 bandit
3/4/2011 8:33:40 PM
I'm holding out for a motherfucking CBX.
3/4/2011 9:19:28 PM
^^I'm not convinced that I want ABS on a motorcycle. It's really beside the point though, as I'm only comparing vintage-ish bikes. I'm a huge, huge fan of the bandit on paper, though I've never ridden one, for whatever that's worth. Just shoot me a pm when you want to let me take it for a test spin [Edited on March 4, 2011 at 9:20 PM. Reason : .]
3/4/2011 9:20:10 PM
I have been looking for a GPZ750 turbo for over a year now.
3/4/2011 9:28:11 PM
A buddy of mine rides a '79 CBX, only one I know of anywhere around here. That sucker is mean. ^ Damn rightfinally decided to see what I can get for the virago http://raleigh.craigslist.org/mcy/2248006690.html
3/4/2011 11:38:16 PM
man.. i was trying to safety wire my shit tonight for tomorrow and titanium bits just aren't making a dent in these hardened steel fasteners. to make matters worse, there's an 80% chance of rain sunday. sunday is the real race day. fuck if im racing with novices on a new setup in the rain. i'll just get acclimated to the suspension at CMP on the 19th and 20th I guess. anyone got any good recommendations for drilling these holes or perhaps a vendor of pre-safety-wire drilled bolts?
3/4/2011 11:38:17 PM
You wouldn't have the least bit of trouble drilling a 70s honda fastener. Vintage4lyfe
3/5/2011 1:15:39 AM
lol i wouldn't have any business doing it, either.
3/5/2011 1:40:15 AM
^^^^ Damn, practically giving it away. That is tempting.
