Also, both are great places to find people who don't shower[Edited on May 6, 2013 at 7:35 PM. Reason : (similarities between sadlacks and subway)]

Web site is up.http://www.isleepwith.com/2604-hillsborough/They don't mention anything about the lack of parking on that website. Will they have a bunch of students show up on August 1st with cars, only to find there is nowhere to put them?
5/14/2013 2:03:02 PM
Forgot how cramped student apartments were
5/14/2013 9:18:11 PM
How many students have nearly 1000 a month for rent?
5/14/2013 10:20:28 PM
parents
5/14/2013 10:30:37 PM
for comparison to downtown, a studio or 1 bedroom at the Hue runs $1100-$1400 per month
5/14/2013 10:51:00 PM
^plus it includes cable, internet, and utilities up to $40 a month. That makes $985 a lot more affordable, especially for a couple who want to share a 1 bedroom. It will have no problem filling up.
5/14/2013 11:04:12 PM
if they price it too low it will get shitty quick, its a desirable enough location that they can price it to be selective

I have a ~600 ft2 apartment in Greensboro at the moment due to work and my highest total utility bill so far over the past few months is $49 (water and electricity combined). $40 allotment for a 1 bedroom apartment and new construction is not bad. As it starts to get warmer the bill will certainly be more, but $40 would cover nearly all in fall/spring in the apartment I'm in probably and there is no reason it shouldn't be similar for that place.[Edited on May 15, 2013 at 9:05 AM. 5/15/2013 8:56:31 AM
yeah, that probably would have covered my bill at least a few months a year the last time i had a one bedroom

Heres some shots I took today of the building going in beside the Wells Fargo.

Apparently Hot Box Pizza has closed. Never fear though, I'm sure another pizza place will open in its place soon.Just a thought , but that wouldn't be the worst place in the world for Sadlack's to move to if there aren't currently any other viable options on the street.[Edited on May 21, 2013 at 6:07 PM. I was in St. Louis over the weekend, and Delmar Blvd beside Washington University made me imagine what Hillsborough St could aspire to be. http://visittheloop.com/
5/21/2013 6:09:59 PM
Hot Box made some pretty terrible pizza, but its sad they closed. They did a good job fixing up that space.
5/21/2013 6:18:00 PM
^^^^What used to be there before? I haven't been on Hillsborough in a while...can't remember[Edited on May 21, 2013 at 6:46 PM. Reason : Fuckin' shitballs]
5/21/2013 6:45:42 PM
they should turn the wells fargo into sadlacks. it already has the beginnings of a patio.
5/21/2013 7:04:57 PM
The new Jersey Mike's is pretty solid. Well run, etc..
5/21/2013 9:29:59 PM
^Where is the new one? Also, good riddance to Hot Box, shitty awful place even if they did some decent renovations. I'm wondering what will replace it.
5/21/2013 9:31:51 PM
Sadlacks is moving downtownbesides, rent would be way too damn high if she moved into where HotBox was
5/21/2013 9:34:23 PM
And rent won't be high downtown? Do you know where they're talking about moving downtown? I haven't gone to talk to Dave in forever.

^Owner's son and tender during the day. Dave and his mom are great folks and I really hope they find a sweet place.^^Jesus, the number of things next to that Kinkos. I've never been to Jersey Mike's, might try it out.
5/22/2013 12:37:49 AM
gotchaowner is a close family friend
5/22/2013 12:42:56 AM
Is it Peace St. behind the Black Flower?
5/22/2013 1:38:20 PM
nope
5/22/2013 2:49:39 PM
Is Sadlacks going into that old auto shop on Hillsborough across from Char-Grill?
5/22/2013 2:57:20 PM
nopealthough I thought that would have been a good fit
5/22/2013 3:04:11 PM
^^ That's going to be a salon.
5/22/2013 4:48:07 PM
This should be pretty cool. Jim Goodnight's son will be redoing 3210 Hillsborough St. building. Hes done a great job on a few othee buildings in downtown Raleigh. Should be a good thing for this area of Hillsborough across from Subconscious and Reader's Corner.
5/31/2013 12:06:34 PM
Nice!!! I've hoped for years that someone would rescue that building before all the tiles fall off the facade. The question being, what type of space will it become?

That whole stretch of Hillsbourgh (basically once you get past UT/Valentine Commons is the area I was hoping someone would look to renovate next. Glad to see something's gonna happen to improve the look of the buildings there.

^Where Hotbox is now? I always wondered what was there. By the time I showed up at NCSU it was a vacant lot IIRC, and then they built the shell of a building which sat empty for a while and then finally became Sylvia's.
6/3/2013 3:11:35 PM
glad they're doing something with the old Nehi building. My dad and I have been wanting to develop that for years but the guy who owns it wanted $texas for the building. I always pictured a brewery there but I guess Raleigh Brewing Company is right across the street now. It's got a great layout, a giant area that could be for a patio and stage in the back, and ample dirt parking behind that. They could really turn it into something badass.
6/3/2013 3:50:23 PM
^I thought they were talking about the house that sat where the new Preiss apartment construction is.
6/3/2013 3:52:37 PM
Too many projects, especially for someone like me who hasn't seen any of them in person. Which is the one you^ are talking about (new Preiss apartment construction) ?
6/3/2013 4:03:40 PM
Where the Hillsborough Annex used to be.
6/3/2013 5:07:44 PM
saw someone spray painted on every one of those panels on the bowling alley... some message about casual sex or something, i can't rememberi hope they take advantage of the vandalism and just go ahead and take the rest of that stuff downi'm sure orientation groups visiting hillsborough street this week thought it looked pretty swell!
6/22/2013 8:32:16 PM
^ I noticed that over a week ago. Dismayed that they haven't been proactive about it. You can literally make one call to the city and they'll send a crew to remove graffiti.
6/23/2013 2:27:07 PM
It was reported to the city graffiti office days ago
6/23/2013 2:45:39 PM
Well I'm the asshole then.]
6/23/2013 2:54:28 PM
I'm just glad you finally realized it.
6/23/2013 2:55:53 PM
jk
6/23/2013 3:23:13 PM
AHAHAWe really should lay off. I think he's still "dismayed."
6/23/2013 3:29:53 PM
I'm going to go draw a dick on the bowling alley because of you.
6/23/2013 3:35:34 PM
JUST RIP THE DANG THINGS OFF THE SIDE
6/23/2013 3:58:41 PM
The problem with that would be what's behind the panels--probably plain brick. A long brick facade with nothing but narrow vertical windows would arguably look worse than the panels (though the graffiti certainlty can't help).
