i don't agree with it being a penalty at all. no ref should issue it that late into stoppage as is... that really upsets me and the ruined that game... a game should never be decided by a penalty at the end of stoppage.
6/26/2006 1:03:28 PM
maybe if they had a better timekeeping system
6/26/2006 1:09:30 PM
yeah man, FIFA and the refs are gonna be losing some supporters for good after the terrible performances they've shown this world cupI said it before, no way should the referees be allowed to cause a team to lose and be eliminated from a tournament the way they are this year
6/26/2006 1:23:11 PM
I know it was a weak foul and probably shouldnt have been called a penalty but the defender is partly to blame, he left his feet in the box and didnt touch the ball and no matter whose fault the guy tripped over him.. IMO it was a weak call but I would partly blame the defender. If you leave your feet, esp. in the box you better make sure you get part of the ballIn regards to diving, I blame FIFA for not cracking down on it. I think I've seen maybe 2 or 3 yellow cards this whole World Cup for diving. If I was playing, and it was going to help my team, I cant say I wouldnt do it, esp. if theirs no penalty for it. So I blame FIFA and the refs. for the most part.. but it has gotten really bad and takes away from the game
6/26/2006 3:21:24 PM
yeah. if you go down "with an injury" you should have to wait at least 5 minutes or some set amount of time before you can re-enter. it would make a player not try to sell a penalty if his team had to play a man down for enough time to possibly hurt his team. it's the only way to keep players from taking dives willy-nilly across the field. it's too easy for a player who knows he has no real chance on making a play to just dive and hope for a whistle.
6/26/2006 3:26:02 PM
I thought this would be a pretty boring game, but its pretty entertaining.. their should be a goal soon...Frei almost had the 2nd best goal of the cup
6/26/2006 3:30:18 PM
The sitting out thing for an injury will never happen because it's not fair to players who are seriously injured. And there's no fair way to judge who is "really hurt," so I can't honestly see it happening, at least not any time soon.[Edited on June 26, 2006 at 3:34 PM. Reason : ]

6/26/2006 4:49:35 PM
well here we go with a game decided on PKs
6/26/2006 5:29:14 PM
I love penalty shootouts, more fun to actually participate in, but fun to watch too
6/26/2006 5:32:44 PM
WTF no wonder this ended 0-0 lol
6/26/2006 5:34:19 PM
kicking the ball directly at the keeper is typically frowned upon when trying to score, someone should mention that to the swiss.
6/26/2006 5:38:28 PM
good game
6/26/2006 5:38:35 PM
wow those were some sorry excuses for shots
6/26/2006 5:38:53 PM
that game was horrible
6/26/2006 5:43:18 PM
Regarding the Italy game, the question is... was it a foul inside the box? Yes it was. He clearly used his arm to stop him and that is a foul, stop crying.
6/26/2006 6:03:43 PM
^i agree, it was a weak foul, but blame the player who committed the weak foul, not the refit was in the box, it was a foul, case closed
6/26/2006 6:27:25 PM
It was a Ronaldo special."Oh shit, the defender's on the ground. Hop over him, drag your toes. Hop over him, DRAG TOES."
6/26/2006 7:21:29 PM
i was hoping australia would beat italy!
6/26/2006 8:38:48 PM
^German fan?
6/26/2006 9:14:42 PM
Off-topic, but for those hardcore EPL fans that post on here... do you have any idea when they release the next season's Premier league jerseys? I was thinking about getting a Reading Convey jersey, but I wanted the EPL patch and stuff on it. And what website is best to order from? I want everything authentic, I've looked on Subside, but are there any better websites out there (more reliable, cheaper, whatever)?
6/26/2006 9:31:50 PM
6/26/2006 9:46:43 PM
^ thats funny, but really i dont blame the ref mostly, i think the players were out of control
6/27/2006 12:22:17 AM
^^^ Subside is the best I've dealt with from overseas. When I used Kitbag, they dinged me for duty (or some bullshit charge) while I had no such charge with Subside. I don't know if that's because of the shipper they used or what, but I know that Subside are good folks. As for American place, http://www.theonionbag.com is really good, but they don't have the selection of a place like Subside. At the same time, they have a lot of customers who are interested in the Nats, so a new Reading Convey is something they should be able to get pretty easily. Call them and they'll help you out.
6/27/2006 1:04:43 AM
so uhh is ESPN not showing this game?[Edited on June 27, 2006 at 10:59 AM. Reason : ok they are, never mind]
6/27/2006 10:59:31 AM
RONALDO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!that was sicksets the goal record
6/27/2006 11:06:01 AM
ronaldo breaking goalies ankles
6/27/2006 11:06:06 AM
Ghana has no chance.
6/27/2006 11:07:41 AM
The replay angles were kind of bad... I didn't really see how he was wasn't offsides.
6/27/2006 11:07:43 AM
dammit, I wish I could be watching the game right nowdid we ever figure out how to watch the games over the computer? or at least listen to them?
6/27/2006 11:08:15 AM
he looked even to me
6/27/2006 11:08:28 AM
his first breakaway was obvious offsides.the second, where he scored, look good to me.
6/27/2006 11:09:23 AM
DROD, take a look at page 10
6/27/2006 11:10:13 AM
I hate that comment Balboa makes about the general of the team. He said that about Ballack like 1000 times during the Costa Rica game.
6/27/2006 11:11:14 AM
uh, adriano, PASS THE GODDAMN BALL
6/27/2006 11:13:09 AM
ghana does have a chance, the way the cards are flying, if they can luck into 11-on-10 they could maybe score a goal
6/27/2006 11:13:57 AM
Adriano blew it.
6/27/2006 11:14:01 AM
Yea, so why did that Adriano get a card for getting tripped, did the ref think he was taking a dive to make it look worse than it was????
6/27/2006 11:15:29 AM
^ yes, thats exactly it. The ref even made the diving motion with his hands.
6/27/2006 11:17:16 AM
yes
6/27/2006 11:17:17 AM
Well I mean the goalie took the guy out, what should he have done to avoid a card?(besides pass the ball)
6/27/2006 11:19:48 AM
Damn, Ghana is still playing really well.
6/27/2006 11:20:55 AM
yeah they're settling down now and getting decent looks
6/27/2006 11:23:25 AM
6/27/2006 11:24:12 AM
I would actually like to see diving called more, and the other yellow card fouls called a ton less. Get rid of the acting crap[Edited on June 27, 2006 at 11:26 AM. Reason : k]
6/27/2006 11:26:00 AM
absolutely call diving more often, but when it's a dive
6/27/2006 11:27:48 AM
what a game
6/27/2006 11:27:57 AM
