guys we're lucky to have brown back this year. no chance he plays all four.
5/22/2012 10:54:53 AM
there's a chance. it's not likely, but it's not as certain as cjl.
5/22/2012 10:59:57 AM
Brown has a better chance of staying next year than CJL did this year...imo.
5/22/2012 11:04:45 AM
maybe. of course he could come out this season and be one of the best PGs in the country.[Edited on May 22, 2012 at 11:07 AM. Reason : ]

^^ how do you figure?[Edited on May 22, 2012 at 11:07 AM. Reason : ^]

I'm expecting him to leave after this year. Remember, he would have been here one year earlier had it not been for his high school English teacher back in Georgia.
5/22/2012 11:12:52 AM
I hope Brown tears it the fuck up and leaves. If he has a monster season next year (which will include having a good 3pt %), then we'll be golden. I don't care wtf happens in 2013...as a State fan for my entire life, I'm starving for an ACC championship and a legit chance at a Final Four run. Fucking looking ahead two years.
5/22/2012 11:15:17 AM
I don't really have anything to support than other than a gut feeling. CJL was ridiculously close to jumping ship this year. Let's remember that he didn't leave because he wasn't going to be a lottery pick for all intents and purposes. He was going to be late first early second round. For one reason or another I just don't feel like Brown will be rated better than a middle second rounder after next year. Nothing wrong with that, but strictly comparing CJL's chances this year, with Brown's next year...it's how I feel.Brown has got to develop a better shot, and a quicker slash to the basket if he wants to make it in the NBA. Otherwise he's a poor man's John Wall.edit: This comparison speaks more to how incredible it is we held onto CJL this year than anything. I'm just saying if we held onto Leslie this year, I think it's certainly possible we hold onto Brown next.[Edited on May 22, 2012 at 11:18 AM. Reason : ]
5/22/2012 11:16:18 AM
except most mock drafts already have him as a late first rounder
5/22/2012 11:31:04 AM
^ I could be wrong, but that puts him ahead of Leslie in the projected '12 draft. I don't think that was the case.Yes this is ESPN so take it for what it's worth, but here's his current stock for '13http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft/results/players?id=19746&_slug_=lorenzo-brown&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fnba%2fdraft%2fresults%2fplayers%3fid%3d19746%26_slug_%3dlorenzo-brown
5/22/2012 11:35:33 AM
Zo is bigger and stronger than Kendall Marshall, with a better shot and inside game. Marshall is a better passer, but the gap between him and Zo isnt that huge.I'm a Zo homer, but I could easily see him being a middle first round pick next year
5/22/2012 11:39:54 AM
he also is every bit the body of an nba point guard, unlike leslie, which is why it's silly to say that brown is more likely to stay next year than leslie was this year.
5/22/2012 11:42:22 AM
5/22/2012 11:46:01 AM
I feel like there are several teams in the playoffs this year that could have gotten lucky and picked up Zo in the late first round this year.OKC, LAL, Heat, Utah.. All of those teams could use a guy like Zo.
5/22/2012 11:46:41 AM
every mock draft I've seen has had him late first/early second, with a good year he should def be mid first, but mock drafting for next year right now is basically a crap shoot anyway
5/22/2012 11:47:01 AM
Lorenzo is a better shooter than Marshall.
5/22/2012 11:48:31 AM
Brown is an erratic shooter. He's got a good shot when he's set and in rhythm, but he's too often always all over the place (I think a lot has to do with the height he has on his jump shot...a lot can go wrong when you rise up that high). Marshall was knocking down open threes left and right in the 2nd half of last year. The guy with the better percentages is the better shooter most of the time.[Edited on May 22, 2012 at 11:54 AM. 5/22/2012 11:54:29 AM
Brown needs to pull a Jarret Jack and show up next year with a high % 3 ball. That's all Im saying.
5/22/2012 12:04:11 PM
5/22/2012 12:39:23 PM
5/22/2012 1:05:16 PM
Lo is a better scorer, but Marshall is a better shooter
5/22/2012 2:04:40 PM
lo had to create most of his own shots. marshall benefited from having literally no one guard him as a shooting threat the entire season.
5/22/2012 2:44:57 PM
didnt ty lawson shoot like 60% from 3 his junior year because all he had were open looks?not to mention that marshall had all day to take his methodically slow 3 (going to get that shit stuffed back in his face in the league) because teams were giving him that shotbrown isn't a great shooter but he's better than marshall if he works on his shot. marshall obviously worked on his last year/last offseason. will zo do that for next year? who knows
5/22/2012 2:51:53 PM
^^, ^marshall worked on his shot and no one guarded him. I mean, unless u have 5 lockdown defenders at every position you have to pick your poison and most people dared Marshall and the white kid to beat them, and they pretty much did, well Marshall at least.
5/22/2012 3:54:34 PM
i understand why he was open. i'm just saying its not always a fair comparison to just look at fg% side by side.
5/22/2012 3:55:26 PM
bullshit, fg% never lies, just ask face]
5/22/2012 4:08:56 PM
5/22/2012 4:27:44 PM
marshall's game at this point reminds me of jason kidd's (at this point)
5/22/2012 5:05:13 PM
Except Kidd is one of the best rebounders in NBA history. And his steal rate is insane, whereas Marshall not so much.I think he'll be a bust. Doesn't have range, small, etc. Plus PG is absolutely loaded in the league right now
5/22/2012 5:15:20 PM
Andre Miller is the only legit 1 in the league who can't shootThe exception, not the rule
5/22/2012 5:17:21 PM
Rondo isn't exactly a marksmanmight be the best pure PG in the league though]
5/22/2012 5:18:54 PM
if i never hear/read the term "pure point guard" again it'll be too soon.i'm sure it'll be in the very next post though.
5/22/2012 5:26:10 PM
5/22/2012 5:28:24 PM
does "pass-first point guard" also piss you off?back to NCSU ball though...Howell is gonna be solid at the 5 next year, but I wish we had a Throwback Center]
5/22/2012 5:28:42 PM
TBDV
5/22/2012 5:57:35 PM
Tyler Lewis should be a good pure point guard. Rodney can probably run the point, but i think he'll be more of a combo guard.
5/22/2012 6:22:23 PM
Rodney = bledsoe amirite?

CJ Leslie is great but he's a tweener. I think we need a banger at the 4
5/23/2012 1:02:44 PM
NBA is full of tweeners
5/23/2012 1:12:55 PM
1- pure point guard2- spot up shooter3- tweener4- banger5- throwback centermaybe a triple threat off the benchif i understand this page correctly, this is what we are looking for...
5/23/2012 7:31:43 PM
could always use a volume scorer
5/23/2012 7:39:44 PM
as well as a Lockdown Defender coming off the bench
5/23/2012 7:41:31 PM
don't forget a glue-guy. remember that cjw is gone.
5/23/2012 7:45:26 PM
Pure point guard means PG who can't shoot or penetrate?no thanks
5/23/2012 7:46:11 PM
it means they are looking to distribute the ball before shooting or drivingalthough driving, while looking to kick it to an open man is also acceptablethanks
