so from reading the last couple pages, i shouldn't even bother to enjoy next season because we're going to be 12th in the league the following year and MG getting fired is pretty much inevitable
5/16/2012 10:12:41 PM

What's the deal with Montrezl Harris? Will VT not allow him to come to an ACC school or do they not have a say in the matter?
5/17/2012 12:23:30 AM
guys i'm not trying to be a downer, but you have to start talking about this shit realistically. i can't just sit here and read people talk about how jefferson was just icing on the cake when we're getting ready to totally start over w/ our roster.and people have to stop saying "nah it'll be fine, we'll be in the middle of the acc". i don't know if you guys have noticed but the acc is dogshit. i want nothing to do w/ the middle of this conference. let's at least have a higher standard for our hopes, come on.
5/17/2012 12:25:32 AM
Why are we talking about 2013-14 now when we haven't even played the 2012-13 season?
5/17/2012 12:29:14 AM
what the fuck are you talking about AndyMac? when its Tuesday afternoon and you've got a hot date later on that night, aren't you thinking more about what you'll be doing on Saturday?]
5/17/2012 12:31:14 AM
I think we'll be ok
5/17/2012 12:42:44 AM
i agree that we should obviously want to be real good, all the time. sometimes it doesn't work that way. remember who the worst team was in the ACC from 2006-2011? us. a sweet 16, hopefully a real good year upcoming, and a decent 2013-14 at worst isn't all that bad. our starting 5 should be pretty solid although not that experienced (we started 1 SR this past year with a couple JRs and 2 SO who were real good, we should have at least 3 SO who are real good that year and hopefully some decent recruits to fill in depth). it may not be a national championship year, but with a solid recruiting class and keeping it in tact it could be the actual foundation for getting us back, for a long time.[Edited on May 17, 2012 at 12:47 AM. ^thisAlso, MG has created a pretty damn good resume on recruitment abilities, I expect there will be other star-potential players coming through the next few years. Losing this one doesn't discount all the improvements that have been made since Sid got thrown to the curb.
5/17/2012 4:09:54 AM
Yeah, I'd rather stay above the middle of the conference, but if that becomes our down year I can live with it. I've spent the majority of my life with the middle of the conference being an outstanding year. That's not even taking into account that we could end up with a solid freshman or two to fill the gaps and make that down year another competitive season.

While our bigman depth is concerning, and it definitely sucks that we missed out on amile (and young, and now even that bojo-guy), i don't think we should start freakin-out about the 2013 season just yet, we don't know what the team is going to look like. We'll have 3 (aa) sophomores and a transfer (all-sec rookie team) that we haven't seen yet. We don't know how serviceable vandy and tdt will be in 2012, much less in 2013. we don't know what freshmen mg and company may snag next year. and there's a chance that lorenzo may still be around (and a very small chance that cjl will still be around). But we really need to pick-up a stud big-man in 2013, that's pretty cruicial.[Edited on May 17, 2012 at 9:18 AM. Reason : and we apparently still have a slight chance with that goodman guy]

The team we have this year(which is STRONG) will be our greatest recruiting tool for 2013. The sky is properly supported.
5/17/2012 9:48:57 AM
structurally sound.

5/17/2012 10:07:40 AM
^^I believe there is an ACC league rule that states he would have to sit a year if he went to another ACC school even though it is not a true transfer.[Edited on May 17, 2012 at 10:08 AM. Reason : .]
5/17/2012 10:08:13 AM
didn't we determine that he would have to sit-out a year and lose a year of eligibility, so it ain't gonna happen?
5/17/2012 10:12:11 AM
k thanks, didn't know the rule on that one...seems dumb especially if there was a coaching change
5/17/2012 10:19:32 AM
5/17/2012 11:41:54 AM
montrezel harrell has requested his release but he has not yet been granted it. as soon as they do and barring any restrictions which would keep him from coming here, state and other schools can contact him.
5/17/2012 11:42:51 AM
as mentioned earlier, i'm pretty sure there's an acc rule that would require him to sit-out and lose a year of eligibility (if went to another acc school. i could be wrong, but i think that's what tww determined)[Edited on May 17, 2012 at 11:46 AM. Reason : ]

in before the savon is a much better land than amile
5/17/2012 1:32:36 PM
Eh. They both have upsides. It's whether or not you can coach skill or athleticism that determines if he's a good get in place of Amile. Against Amile, anyone that says Savon is better is moronic.
5/17/2012 1:38:14 PM
5/17/2012 1:39:18 PM
Have we thrown our hat in for Savon THIS year or as a part of the 2013 class? The internet seems to say he's still undecided about prep school.
5/17/2012 1:57:01 PM
I hope it's just for this year. But if TDT and/or JDV play like shit next year, might as well offer him for next year as well. We've already got some really good bigs on the radar for next year in Randle, Woodson, and Meeks. Randle is a long shot, but the other two are a possibility and would probably lessen our need for Savon. But he would be great to give us depth this year and a year of experience and help space out scholarships for the years after.
5/17/2012 1:59:54 PM
hey jbrick83, are you a freshman that just started paying attention? b/c that's what this feels like.
5/17/2012 2:02:29 PM
Good argument. I'm just really excited to start our string of ACC championships and consecutive Finals Fours next year. I'm expecting at least 20 in a row.
