MOROCCAN OIL FTW!
9/9/2012 11:29:46 AM
Are the shampoos and conditioners any good? I was thinking of getting the Moisture Repair shampoo and conditioner and then the Hydrating Styling Cream. That stuffs expensive, though.
9/9/2012 11:48:05 AM
they are probably worth the money though I haven't tried them. I only use the oil.
9/9/2012 11:50:33 AM
I looked on Amazon and the price of the shampoo/conditioner, styling cream, and oil all together was $112 :-/ I still want it, but I don't think I'll be buying them all at once. I can do 2 out of the three I think. Maybe somewhere at the mall will have a BOGO or something today.
9/9/2012 11:55:28 AM
holy jesushonestly just start with a small bottle of the oil (i got mine for like $10 at my salon, though I think I got a deal b/c I dropped 200 on a cut/color) and just apply a little bit after you shampoo it. I usually blow dry mine until it's damp then apply it and finish the blow dry.and you should only be shampooing your hair 1 to 2 times a week so even though they are crazy expensive they should last you a really long time :/
9/9/2012 11:58:17 AM
I've been not washing my hair since before it was cool! I have a sensitive scalp, and if I wash my hair too much it burns and itches. I was thinking of doing the oil, and then just a minor step up on the shampoo and conditioner. I need a new brush because the cheap one i have now rips my hair sometimes, and I need styling stuff because I own none. I think a hair spray for serious hairstyles and maybe a styling foam for minor events.
9/9/2012 12:03:06 PM
I bought that Garnier Fructis flat iron spray, with argan oil and the like.I didn't have that high of expectations, but I was really pleasantly surprised. Hair was really soft, very smooth. Held the straightness for all day with no frizz.
9/9/2012 12:04:32 PM
you have long hair right elise? when my hair was long I used this stuffits smells really nice and it just keeps your hair from frizzing out and gives it a little extra shine. it doesn't add hold or anything though
9/9/2012 12:10:38 PM
I've noticed since I started using the Garnier Oil that my hair looks passable when I get up the second day. I have thin, fine hair that I have always had to wash on a daily basis, but I feel like I can actually leave the house with slept on hair since using the oil. elise, we talked about this yesterday. I am just a drug store brand shopper. I do not buy expensive hair products or make up because I don't think that there is a great enough difference to make it worth the expense. Someone looking at you certainly cannot tell the difference. I would rather spend my money elsewhere.

I have been using Moroccan/argan oil for about a year now, and I love it. And I just dropped about $70 on a line of sulfate/paraben/silicone free shampoo/conditioner/gel (the deva curl line). It's the most I've ever spent on any hair care products, and while I don't have anything major to report yet, I guess I feel better about not using sulfates?also...getting my first keratin treatment tomorrow! VARY EXCITE.
9/9/2012 1:24:35 PM
I just spend 80 bucks on a bag full of hair care products, and drooled over the moroccan oil gift packs at mitchell's, but my fiance's mom was there and she buys me stuff all the time so I hinted that the two packs they had there would make fabulous christmas gifts. I bought a teeny little bottle of moroccan oil, and new brush that doesn't have those stupid balls on the end that catch my hair, some of the garnier stuff that bottombaby put in my hair, salon pump bottles of john frieda full repair shampoo and conditioner, aussie lightweight styling mousse, rockaholic flexible hairspray, and a set of claw clips because I broke my last one on thursday.I went from having nothing to having pretty much everything. I still want those gift packs though!

this is really nice for damaged hair
9/9/2012 2:44:24 PM
i hate everything lush.[Edited on September 9, 2012 at 3:31 PM. Reason : my hair is longer than everyone's and I like john frieda and rusk ]

Any of you ever seen this jacket? It's mens of course but I saw it online and I cant figure out where it is actually sold. Figured it was worth asking at least.[Edited on September 9, 2012 at 4:56 PM. Reason : ]

reminds me of a ralph lauren coat Monitaly, but if it's just random tumblr photo, there is a good chance it is not in season anymore. You can probably find a similar one though.sold out http://www.polyvore.com/riders_coat_brown_stripe/thing?id=24504318http://www.lyst.com/clothing/monitaly-brown-riders-brown-stripe-wool-coat/[Edited on September 9, 2012 at 5:18 PM. I just had the rehearsal for the fashion show I've been planning all year. It's this Thursday, September 13th 8pm at the Raleigh Amphitheater. We're the headliner for the SPARKcon opening ceremonies which starts at 6pm. So feel free to come earlier to see other things on the big stage.Show is FREE so if you're looking for something to do that night, come on downinfo at http://www.sparkcon.com/fashionSPARK. All the designers are listed on the site with links to their sites.

^^ thanks for finding that regardless!I actually did not like the full version like I did the zoomed in shot anyway :/It seemed like a jacket that would be a little more fitted overall and not have as much going on as it does. I guess I had formed an image of how the whole jacket would look after that cropped shot . I was expecting just those two strips and a fit more like these:I appreciate the help tho [Edited on September 9, 2012 at 6:13 PM. Reason : ]

yea, IMO, that coat is a more feminine cut... but I am not a fashion expert.I like something more like http://www.ralphlauren.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=3351650&cp=1760781.3351645&ab=ln_men_cs1_wooland the express jacket you posted [Edited on September 9, 2012 at 6:17 PM. Groupon has a pretty good deal on laser hair removal right now. 6 sessions for a "medium area" (underarms) for $149.

Anyone know anyone who has a Cricut machine so that I can make escort cards like these:
9/9/2012 10:28:05 PM
Someone was talking about alchohol-free products? I remember watching Project Runway, that they had commented during the hair section about L’Oréal Paris EverStyle alcohol-free products.Just FYI.
9/9/2012 11:48:31 PM
I just don't understand why, even in products whose main claim is to "moisturize" or help dryness, the second ingredient is alcohol. Even in my expensive, "good for curly/dry hair" line, the second ingredient in both the shampoo AND conditioner is cetearyl alcohol.
9/10/2012 12:46:35 AM
maybe once its in the mixture it reacts with something else and isn't actually alcohol anymore when you're putting it in your hair?but seriously I have no idea
9/10/2012 7:33:58 AM
do we have a science board on here where we can get this question answered?
9/10/2012 2:04:16 PM
it is a preservative.
9/10/2012 2:05:59 PM
9/10/2012 2:07:22 PM
you're taking the word "alcohol" too literallyit's not like the second ingredient is isopropanol (or what is rubbing alcohol), cetearyl alcohol is a long-chain fatty alcohol (all that means is that there's an -OH group at the end of it, which basically suffices to make part of the chain water-soluble)basically, it's a fatty surfactant/stabilizerany other questions?[Edited on September 10, 2012 at 4:10 PM. what are the best SLS/SLES alternative compounds to look for? some of them don't work worth a damn[Edited on September 10, 2012 at 4:16 PM. Reason : sense... i makes it]
9/10/2012 4:15:41 PM
I got the new Fructis Fall Fight Conditioner after seeing the commercialit smells like stale beer. It also makes my hair feel awesome
9/10/2012 4:19:13 PM
I can't really suggest one that's any better than SLS: even those shampoos which claim to be "sulfate free" frequently use surfactants from the same family as SLS anyhownot sure why people are so skittish about SLS in the first place: it's the king of protein cleaners, which is why it's been in use for so long[Edited on September 10, 2012 at 4:43 PM. Reason : definitely one of the milder things I've used in the lab, for sure]
9/10/2012 4:43:07 PM
chronic exposure can cause irritation in some people. I have some scalp irritations and at the very least don't want to provoke them further, personally. but i'm too concerned about the way my hair looks and feels to use a medicated shampoo...
9/10/2012 4:48:32 PM
Am I the only one that can't use Garnier Fructis shampoos/conditioners because it makes my hair dry? It's one of the few brands I've had major issues with.
9/10/2012 5:00:48 PM
granted I have black girl hair, but fructis makes my hair feel like straw...even after the conditioner
9/10/2012 5:59:22 PM
me three!! Depending on the formula, Fructis will either make my hair super dry and brittle or nasty like an oil slick. I do love their humidity-resistant hairspray though!
9/10/2012 6:08:06 PM
[quotenasty like an oil slick. [/quote]i have that problem with a lot of shampoos! especially the more expensive ones. the only brand that will consistently clean my hair and not make it feel greasy right after washing is Treseme.
9/10/2012 9:07:33 PM
Garnier Fructis Length and Strength Shampoo and Conditioner made my hair fall out faster, either that or it got brittle and broke off. I was not a fan.
9/10/2012 9:31:45 PM
After one use I am a committed fan of Moroccan Oil, and of my new shampoo and conditioner.
9/11/2012 10:01:17 AM
I've been using the full repair conditioner for a couple months now, and I love it. Occasionally I'll switch in a bottle of one of aveenos conditioners, but full repair is where it's at for me. Makes my hair so silky soft
9/11/2012 10:10:32 AM
Bah, I'm having a bridal luncheon, too. I wish I had started being girly earlier so that I wouldn't have to buy a dress for every freaking event.
9/13/2012 10:43:01 PM
After seeing everyone here love on Moroccan oil and then having it recommended by a hairdresser this weekend, I had to try it. I got this one, the "light" for fine and brittle hair. It was only $8.Today is the first day I've used it but my hair feels great even though I dyed it on Monday.
9/14/2012 9:14:23 AM
I really love all the organix brand shampoos. I used to use the coconut and vanilla kinds a lot. they smell SO good. I may have to go find that kind though and try it out
9/14/2012 9:42:10 AM
I am pretty sure I have a thing of the coconut conditioner that I hated. It smelled good, but made my hair feel gross. You want it?
9/14/2012 9:44:04 AM
um yes please. I don't have an issue with oily hair as my hair is FRIED TO HELL.
9/14/2012 9:45:40 AM
I have a haircut and color tomorrow. I picked the color out 2 weeks agoI have not a fucking clue how I want my hair cut. this could be bad.
