I am fully on board with them as automatic qualifier. I am not really on board with declaring a champion because the season was not completed. If we are in a playoff sport, then the only champion is the team that wins the playoff (non of this regular season winner nonsense) and I'd rather it just be an empty year same as if they vacated it.

Yeah it was duke. But with basically every other conference cancelling, it’s not all that surprising that the ACC cancelled no matter what Duke did.

This kinda all but guarantees the NCAAT won’t go on as scheduled. I mean if Duke (and surely other schools) are refusing to travel....then they aren’t gonna be traveling to the NCAAs either

And I don’t think a real regular season trophy exists. But idk

Who is most necessary? Probably Hayes since PG position will be open. Braxton and Daniels can handle the ball but neither are starting PGs. So hopefully Hayes can come in and take over the PG role.

Honestly, I wonder if our O changes much next year...KK didn’t recruit Markell. Did KK tailor an offense that played to Markell’s strengths? Or is the offense we’ve seen been basically what KK wants to run with any PG?

Extra year of eligibility only makes sense for spring sports, not winter sports. Why would Chris Lykes, for example, get an extra year? His season was already over.

yeah i would be extremely surprised to see winter sports get a year of eligibility.

spring sports is already going to be a cluster fuck with regards to scholarships/roster limits. like will the NCAA allow all teams to have the same amount of scholarships awarded/roster spots as the team with the most returning seniors + incoming freshman? or will they just let those teams have a bunch more scholarship players than teams with no/few seniors?

if they did this in basketball there could be some team with like 17 or 18 scholarship players. it would be insane.

not to mention some of these smaller low/mid major schools will probably have hard time budgeting for all these extra scholarships. shouldn't be an issue for P5 schools, but I bet some schools from like the MEAC or Horizon League will struggle.

also, winter sports played like their entire REGULAR seasons. just didn't get a complete postseason. chalk this up as a learning experience that life sucks sometimes.

Exactly. And some teams had already finished their postseason or been eliminated from it.

I appreciate the NCAA actually trying to come up with a solution and trying to be proactive. But it feels like a logistics nightmare.

regarding the NCAA investigation. Most likely nothing is going to come of it now that the Coronavirus thing has crippled every sports program across America. We wont be punished, Kansas won't. Arizona won't. Nobody will be punished now.

That would look really really bad for the NCAA to punish any schools for anything after the Coronavirus cancelling all spring sports and possibly more....
