DIS just bought MVL for $50 a share I own a lot of MVL, but wish i had more.

Why is Dis down 3%?
8/31/2009 11:33:59 AM
it's pretty typical for the buyer's ticker to drop a bit and the company getting bought up to spike. Also, the CFO from disney stated that the marvel deal will be dilutive in terms of earnings for FY10.http://www.marketwatch.com/story/disney-cfo-marvel-deal-dilutive-in-fy2010-2009-08-31?siteid=yhoof2

So, here's an awesome article that sums things up nicely I think.http://wallstreetexaminer.com/2009/08/31/forbes-polls-the-wackosphere-and-gets-an-earful/Talks about the shills in the economic media and why the rally will eventually die.As far as the media part goes I think it really does that connection justice. Start at paragraph 6 if you want to skip the background and get to the juicy stuff. I think most people here are at least somewhat aware of this but it sums it up nicely for people who don't keep up with economic news.

^Doesn't make things sound good.
9/1/2009 9:31:20 AM
So what news came out at the open that was worth an 80 point rocket ride higher?
9/1/2009 9:51:19 AM
wow nice. i checked at open and it was down 35.
9/1/2009 9:53:30 AM
Yeah, the ISM that came out at 10, not 9:30.Just another sign of a rigged market. I'll expect a post by Karl D at The Market Ticker about this any moment now.An upgrade to RIMM isn't worth an 80 point reversal to the entire market.[Edited on September 1, 2009 at 10:08 AM. Reason : .]

Bobby, good job on timing Citi. i had a similar experience with BAC (still have most of it).to the dude who got long dated calls in the spring -- big mega props to you. i was lacking both the time to do the quantitative analysis as well as the juevos to do likewise, but have always been a proponent of getting long dated calls (even leaps) on the recovery side of a bear market.
9/1/2009 1:50:13 PM
wow, had a great day, 10% in faz, 25% and going in VGpay attention to VG it is a buyout candidate, similar to skype but with more profit potentialhttp://www.businessweek.com/technology/content/aug2009/tc20090830_161547_page_2.htm
9/1/2009 6:16:35 PM
had a great day today, 10% in FAZ, 25% and growing in VGVG is a potential buyout target soon, mayber tomorrow, definately look at thathttp://www.businessweek.com/technology/content/aug2009/tc20090830_161547_page_2.htm
9/1/2009 6:17:18 PM
out of VG, bought DRV, 3x real estate short
9/2/2009 12:01:21 PM
It doesn't count unless you say what the entries/exits were.
9/2/2009 12:10:10 PM
i got in Faz two days ago at 23.68 got out at 25.50got in VG at 1.48 got out 1.93got in DRV at 30.68 this could be a long hold for the rest of the year if i have the patiencecommercial real estate is a train wreck that cannot be avoided and teh headlines are finally reflecting that
9/2/2009 1:20:55 PM
Pretty impressive to catch DRV at the dead bottom.
9/2/2009 1:32:46 PM
usually after a slide like yesterday, you'd expect a dead cat bounce. if there isn't, i think you can expect more pain.
9/2/2009 2:36:45 PM
Bought back COH today at 28.32.My last batch was called away from me at 27.50 last month, but I'd sold the calls for 0.65 each. I sold Sept puts for 0.75 each a few weeks back and then bought them back for 0.50 today after I got the stock back. All together I'm slightly in the positive.
9/2/2009 3:31:09 PM
Yeah, it got an upgrade the other day. I'm more or less blown away by any consumer/disc stock that is catching upgrades in this economy.
9/2/2009 3:39:10 PM
9/2/2009 3:41:36 PM
I'm a big fan of COH. It's well managed and is seeing good expansion in asia.A few years back I got a 100% return on COH options in 24 hours when I made a good guess about earnings. That was back when I had the cajones for that kind of thing.
9/2/2009 3:44:20 PM
200 minute moving average?
9/2/2009 4:27:18 PM
yepbeen bouncing off of that all day longby the way anyone ever heard of a company where you put in say $5000.00 then they give you like $100k to trade withi just found one that does this and is highly recommended by a lot of good tradersit almost sounds too good to be true thoughthe best part is you don't risk more than what you put in, which in my case would be $5000.00[Edited on September 2, 2009 at 4:34 PM. Reason : .]
9/2/2009 4:33:01 PM
What company would do that?
9/2/2009 4:45:53 PM
i'm going to go ahead and call bullshit on that.
9/2/2009 4:57:54 PM
i'm not telling anyone until i have secured my spot, but it was recommended by solid traderstheir whole process is to find the best traders and then they offer you full membership, where you trade with captial between 100K to several million.you risk nothing, they risk little since they closely monitor your tradingbesides initially they risk nothing since you put up 5k and they cut you off if you get close to losing it allso there is no good reason to doubt it is for real, i will find out by tomorrow
9/2/2009 5:02:05 PM
big steaming pile of bullshitHow are they giving you 100k to trade with and they aren't risking anything?Do you even trade or is this all paper money? Is it even paper money?[Edited on September 2, 2009 at 5:32 PM. Reason : .]
9/2/2009 5:30:49 PM
you initially have to pay 5K to be a member, they will then give you 100K to tradeif you lose around $3500-$4000 they will give you a call and go over you trading strategyif you continue to lose they will liquidate your account and give you back whatever is left of your 5kthe point for them is to analyze the best traders over a 6 month period, if you are consistent, dont have to make big profits, then they offer you full membership
9/2/2009 5:41:42 PM
Then what? If you lose your initial 5k again they take the candy away? What is the profit sharing? It really doesn't make any sense for someone with 100k to risk it on some chode that only has 5k to offer versus giving that 100k over to a small hedge fund or quant house or something.[Edited on September 2, 2009 at 6:02 PM. 9/2/2009 7:05:44 PM
i'm not telling anyone until i have secured my spot
9/2/2009 7:11:05 PM
no need to , why would i go telling everyone then find out there are not taking anymore membersso all you want but you'll have to wait
9/2/2009 7:18:09 PM
No one here is going to go running to this website, real or not, because no one here believes that anyone on the internets is so fucking stupid that they'll let a guy have 100k for a 5k investment. You aren't revealing what it is because it doesn't exist.
9/2/2009 8:16:19 PM
It probably does, except you have to spend $125k of your money on their training.

9/3/2009 11:46:10 AM
In conjunction with the VIX coming down. Bizarro day for sure.
9/3/2009 12:21:53 PM
I think what we're seeing is the Fed someone dumping the dollar to decrease it's value in an effort to hold up equities. That is resulting in gold and silver jumping up in price. Since equities are not really increasing much relative to the increase in the price in gold and silver, I think that tells us that there is a lot of downward pressure. Just my $.02 which is probably worth exactly that.I bought some GLD calls, some SPG puts today and I have had some SPY puts for a few days.[Edited on September 3, 2009 at 1:24 PM. Reason : holdings]
