This article doesn't look hopeful thoughhttp://www3.signonsandiego.com/stories/2009/jan/11/chargers-s12ltside/?chargersOne way I wouldn't be to sad to see him go, the Giants are currently only 10 million under cap, and both Jacobs and Ward are going to be free agents. I don't know if they will be able to sign both, SD may be able to scoop one of those up for less than LT will cost.As for the draft, My guess is either O-line, ILB, or Safety. They have the 16th pick, no second round, and 2 3rds.

yeah maybe a defensive secondary player, seems to me our O-line is pretty solid for now, but I'm not sure who we may lose next year.

What? O-line is crap, what team have you been watching?Goff and Clary need to go. McNeill needs to move to the right side because he can't handle the speed-rushers on the left. They also need a defensive end, DT, an ILB and a safety. It's a shame they traded away this year's 2nd pick for a guy that's too small to play FB and too slow to play RB.If LT comes back, he's gotta realize that he's not gonna get the touches he has expected the last 8 years. He has shown over the past 2 years that he can't handle it anymore. If he sulks, management should ship his ass out of town. [Edited on January 12, 2009 at 11:37 PM. Reason : 2]

I think the O-line is slightly below average. They could be a lot worse, but they also have a lot of room for improvement. After that...something's gotta be done on the defensive side. I think they LBs are okay...but the secondary needs a little help and I'm going to go ahead and say the d-line need a little shoring up too. It wasn't just the absence of Merriman that made them struggle this year. The Chargers have a few spots to fill...but I also think they are better than 8-8 too. So they don't have THAT much work to do. They need to quit coming so damn slow out of the gate like they did the past two years.

kiper's latest mock has the chargers taking knowshon with their 1st round pick...what you guys think of that pick should it come about?

If they keep LT it's a terrible idea.If not then sure.

Damn I hate that motherfucker's name.If he's around a #16 then I would imagine he's a no-brainer at that pick. Same with Malauaga, although I doubt either one is still on the board.I'd say it comes down to whether LT is still on their plans. If they intend to deal / release him, then they should go with a RB. If they can get him to restructure his contract, then I think DE and safety are more important positions right now. The D was BAD this past year, so I'd like to see them upgrade that first.
