Melvin Tabb recently picked up an offer from Wake Forest. Wake joins ECU, Baylor, and Clemson in offering Tab. We have had Tabb visit State unofficially. We offered to LaQuinton Ross. Rivals has him as a 6'8" SG, and #1 player in the class of '11. Scout has him as the #2 SF in the nation.http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=68956&Sport=2(apologies if this has already been posted, but i think the offer was recent, and i didn't see anything on the last few pages)
11/7/2008 10:39:12 AM
thats a HUGE SGgood Lordreminds me of that guy from Florida a few years back.i think with the next few years it all depends on Wall/Favors and how we do with them.
11/7/2008 10:41:19 AM
yeah, he's big for a SG, and he's only about 16 years old. He's been compared to Tracy McGrady and Kevin Durant. Here's another little blurb.http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=843390
11/7/2008 11:02:04 AM
^mom has been seen wearing a NCSU shirt
11/7/2008 12:05:51 PM
we've been on him for a while.i like that they're not holding any reservations on who they recruit.
11/7/2008 12:16:38 PM
Sweet, someone else reads zagsblog. Zagoria is the absolute best college bball recruiting authority in NYC and the northeast...
11/7/2008 1:38:05 PM
The Ross offer is [old]
11/7/2008 3:40:50 PM
what do you expect from a noob? First he argues that criticizing the basketball team on TWW will hurt recruiting and then he posts some old recruiting news...typical.
11/7/2008 3:54:14 PM
Sorry "armorofsleep", I'm not a seasoned veteran like yourself with all of your 562 posts. Jerk.I know that someone was offered last week, read the article somewhere, can't remember who it was and I can't find the article again.
11/7/2008 4:04:01 PM
I hate you guys so much. every time this thread goes to the top I get a boner. you would think I would have learned by now.
11/7/2008 4:05:54 PM
Did you forget we're NC State? You're going to have blue balls hanging down to the floor by March...
11/7/2008 4:26:38 PM
NC State, we hope for the best but expect the worst
11/7/2008 4:43:24 PM
Hi Bullet welcome to TWW and Sports Talk. It's good to have new posters. Yes the Ross offer is old, I reported it on here a good while ago, but it's always good to have a reminder about who we're going after and more discussion or else this thread would go nowhere until prospects actually visited or committed. Zagsblog said that Ross' mom was seen wearing a bright red N.C. State shirt at the Boost Mobile Elite 24 event at Harlem’s Rucker Park, in which LaQuiton played.http://www.zagsblog.com/2008/08/24/laquinton-ross-has-options-3/Ross would be a great pickup for us. I hope we can land him. I would have felt better if he had transferred to Word of God.

11/7/2008 6:34:26 PM
Some of the GT people are talking some shit on there, when they really have no room to.
11/7/2008 7:02:18 PM
This guy's been brought up on here earlier, and this article's over a week old, but I didn't see it here.http://ncstate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=8686727-foot '09 Russian Center Ruslan Pateev apparently made an official visit to Raleigh last Tuesday. He's got offers from ASU and Fl-St, in addition to us. A PP headline states that he's narrowed his decision to three, but of course, I can't read it all.Hopefully we'll have Mr. You-know-who filling the center spot, but looks like we've got a possible Plan-B.

11/9/2008 8:06:43 PM
I was reading a quote from Wall in my new Wolfpacker magazine that said he really values having his mom and sisters see him play, and that they are his biggest fans. That in and of itself was making it hard for him to contemplate leaving, and possibly staying close to home to play. Let's just hope that that means he's going to come to State rather than Duke.
11/10/2008 10:50:40 AM
I think the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has no actual information on favors, but they like to print articles about him every other day. Oh yeah, and the title of the article is "Basketball: Georgia Tech or UGA for Favors?" http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/shared-blogs/ajc/cfbrecruit/entries/2008/11/10/basketball_all.html
11/10/2008 11:07:40 AM
^I've seen them print that article probably 6 or 7 different times now...
11/10/2008 11:18:00 AM
^^best part is that the article still lists all 3 schools haha, just local paper trying to sway a decision[Edited on November 10, 2008 at 11:19 AM. Reason : ]

We should call them out on it in the comments section. I've never seen the Charlotte Observer or the News & Observer blantantly try and push a kid to a school or two. Do they favor a school sometimes, yes, of course. We've seen that first hand, but they don't get involved in recruiting too much.

With the ESPN and FSN television contracts I'm sure it's a money maker for most BCS conference schools.I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm one of the biggest haters of women's basketball out there, but it is one of the top 5 revenue producing sports in college I'm sure...
11/10/2008 1:42:33 PM
i thought it was generally a huge loss (bigger than I expected when I read this article that my mind may or may not have made up) but I could be totally off base here as I cant find anything to back that up. I swear I read that recently.[Edited on November 10, 2008 at 1:52 PM. Reason : ]

I have one last womens basketball comment. The N&O reported on sunday that there was a girl from both Duke and UNC who could touch the rim, and that the girl from Duke could touch the rim with her left hand while getting a rebound with her right. Thats some exciting news right there!!!!
