Yeah as I watch some of these youtube videos of similar cars/buys it meshes with what you're saying. I'd def not incredibly adept (can do basic stuff), and whatever I get will be a driveway queen as I work from home, but I have been looking over modified stuff and will probably try to just look for mostly OEM cars due to what you said.

I guess it's obvious, but a more hi-po car with a lighter modification is definitely better than a lower powered one with significant mods for power addition.[Edited on April 17, 2020 at 11:46 AM. Reason : -]

forced induction on any 'newer' car - GM LS platform from late 90's+, Ford 3-valve up and the gen 3 hemi dodges - isn't much of a problem at those power levels. It's really the condition of the vehicle and how 'turned up' that power adder is[Edited on April 17, 2020 at 2:12 PM. Reason : -]

that's that vacuum car?
6/3/2020 5:53:40 PM
Has a fan that doesn't so much create a vacuum (its not powerful enough for that) as modifies the airflow.More interested in it weighing under 2200 lbs, having a naturally aspirated V12 that puts out 650 hp and redlines over 12,000, and having a 6 speed manual transmission. I would also imagine it doesn't have power steering, and limited stability control (only what's required by law).

7/7/2020 2:47:32 AM
a radical is probably coming, but my driving enjoyment has returned so I want something more engaging than the tesla even for boring stuff and 500hp + pdk for 30k to haul my dog and groceries seems legit. I'm considering an aston rapide as well, but it looks too short for my dog to stand up
7/7/2020 10:48:40 AM
Dude....fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck putting a dog in an Aston-Martin or an FF or whatever.
7/7/2020 4:06:37 PM
What costs $30k and has PDK and 500 hp?
7/7/2020 4:19:02 PM
panamera turbo. 500hp v8, pdk, and easily had for 30-40k depending on mileage
7/8/2020 12:08:29 AM
Ah yes that boat. Yikes.
7/8/2020 10:29:50 AM
man those first-gen Panameras are ass ugly.

yeah, no where near as good as an insight
7/8/2020 10:45:09 PM
My shit delivers 45 mpg and 269,000 problem-free miles, and is only worth $2-3k. You can't expect stunning looks, too.
7/8/2020 11:56:51 PM
So what your saying is for my next car I need a gen 1 prius with 250-300k miles that can be had for lets say sake of a good deal, $1500
7/9/2020 12:33:11 AM
^like the actual first, first gen prius?[Edited on July 9, 2020 at 9:15 AM. Reason : -]

No, I’m just saying that “well, an old-ass Honda Insight is no looker” is not much of a defense for the aesthetics of a first-gen Panamera.
7/9/2020 3:22:33 PM
Oh insight, my bad. I just assumed first gen cause the mileage.[Edited on July 9, 2020 at 5:47 PM. Reason : For all i know they only had 1 generation before they nixed it]
7/9/2020 5:46:35 PM
an S7 seems to be similar value, performance and utility at a similar price point. I'll admit it's better looking, but the interior quality of a 150-200k porsche vs a 100k audi remains to be seen. Cooled seats in the south sound legit. The problem with the audi is that it has an air ride suspension that I don't want to deal with out of warranty and I'm unsure of the transmission origin (last of the dsg line vs pdk vs graziano used in the r8/huracan). an ecu flash looks to have the car at roughly 600hp and 700ft-lbs[Edited on July 10, 2020 at 6:28 AM. I'd never considered a macan, figured they were too new, but similar pricing. Not sure if I'd rather have its tt v6 or a tt v8, but I'll add it to the list. ThanksSaw an rs7 in person today and the owner let me check out the trunk. It's surprisingly big. The rapide was unusably short for my use case
7/10/2020 10:13:10 PM
drove the s7 and a base macan (was all they had on the lot). the base was a complete turd when it came to driving dynamics. power sucked, braking was even worse, and handling was substantially worse than the s7. the s7 was a little soft for my tastes even on the firmest settings, but I guess that's just air ride in general. it was incredibly comfortable. I'll check the panamera if I can find one and pull the trigger in the next couple weeks. finding the s7 or the panamera with the upgraded stereo option is surprisingly difficult
7/13/2020 10:39:40 AM
My dad's Macan S (bone stock) excels in all those aspects you just listed At 5/10th's, it feels as planted as my Cayman S. The weight/height rears its head after that.
7/13/2020 3:56:51 PM
what are you comparing it to though? I just finished ~1000mi in a weekend in the r8 and I drove my tesla to the test drive. obviously the r8 was light years better at everything, but outside interior finish, so was the tesla. even the base model stereo sucked. I was really surprised. the lot was mostly a liquidation spot for the local tesla dealers so maybe the example I drove was clapped out
7/13/2020 8:23:57 PM
Comparing to Japanese sedans of varying sportiness, the ole 240sx, and my own cayman. I'm not howling tires through corners, testing 70-0, etc, if that's what you're wanting to know about.Basically at 5/10ths, it confidently hangs all the corners I take in my Cayman at 5/10ths. I have a rural 45-minute commute with some nice, curvy sections, particularly the home stretch (which wide-angle video does not do justice):https://www.facebook.com/11813735/videos/10106318366040719/
7/13/2020 9:20:57 PM
that is a seriously awesome commute. i'll try the turbo if i get a chance
7/13/2020 9:46:20 PM
The base 4 cylinder Macan sucks. It's for people that want a badge and nothing more.
7/14/2020 11:51:11 AM
tried out the stinger gt2 in awd and rwd trim, along with a panamera hybrid (apparently before 2016 this wasn't a plug-in). the panamera was a huge let down and the batteries reduced the trunk space to rapide levels. the stinger was the most engaging to drive of everything so far and had more features than all the other cars as well. I was really surprised at how good that car is. The bonuses include - tesla level self driving available via openpilot, 440hp/500ft-lbs at the wheels easily with a tune, 5 year 60k mile warranty, cooled seats, no air-ride, and roughly 32k for a 1-2 year old car.
