The thing I've noticed about Cam lately is that he's selling out his system at the appropriate times, which is something he did consistently well during the Cup run. Also, I purchased a third jersey with the name "THAMTHONOV" on the back tonight.p.s. page ]

When you get the jersey you need to put up pictures.Cam made some unbelievable saves tonight and I agree, when he leaves his system in desparation, most times a good result occurs and he looks brilliant.

I had to get an XL because the girl-cut of the RBK jerseys is too tight in my normal size .I think Barrasso has done wonders for Cam in the sense that stopping pucks is always first. The past two seasons, Cam was often caught up in trying to stay in angle principles instead of just making the save...I don't know if that was Greg Stefan's fault or not, but here's a video of him for no reason:And a video with Stefan and Barrasso:

LOL at the shriek as Stefan is laid out

So after Strachan took that hit from behind penalty last night why did the puck come outside the blue line?
1/3/2009 11:14:12 AM
maybe the play was blown dead because of the injury to whitney as opposed to the delayed penalty
1/3/2009 12:05:28 PM
The faceoff came outside due to Gleason and the other defenseman (forgot who it was) coming inside the circles. Typically this happens everytime there is a scrum after a goalie freezes the puck and if one defenseman crosses the faceoff dot to enter the scrum.
1/3/2009 12:07:21 PM
good call^
1/3/2009 12:10:29 PM
I was so mad at that play, because the linesman didn't let Scott Walker (who was now pissed ) go after Strachan. Gleason also wanted to fight, but they were too quick to clean everything up. At least we didn't get any penalties as a result of it though, but still I wanted a good ole fashion "I'm going to kick your ass for hitting one of our best players who happens to be pretty small" fight.

Don't look now, but those Canes are winning some hockey games.
1/6/2009 9:30:02 PM
paul maurice to blame? i havent been watching the games, just seeing results

Another HELL of a game by the Canes. Now 8-3-1 under Maurice, and I hardly count that 5-2 loss to Pittsburgh since that was the night after he took over as coach.4 straight wins and a 21-15-5 mark at the halfway point of the season, on pace for 94 points.Let's keep it going.
1/6/2009 10:11:26 PM
pretty boring game to watch for the most part. I loved the BALLS that Brent Sutter had to pull Clemmensen on a PP w/6 minutes to go, then (pretty much) for good at the 2:37 mark.
1/6/2009 10:33:02 PM
yea, he didnt have much to lose. it was already 3-0. Canes score again and the game is really over. They ended up scoring though and the momentum shifted. Pretty good move.
1/6/2009 10:42:11 PM
I ENJOYED TONIGHT'S RESULT.
1/6/2009 10:54:12 PM
It's good to know that Paul Martin can score for both teams. I am sure Brent Sutter's ploy will be talked about for quite a while now and I applaud him for it. I just wish that the Devils had played all 60 mins like they played the last 10.

NJ Goaltending Depth Chart1. Brodeur2. Clemmensen3. Empty Net4. Weekes
1/7/2009 2:47:00 AM
I thought the empty net at 6:00 was a fantastic idea. They were already down 3 goals - what was there to lose? However, I thought the second empty netter at 3:00 was a bit premature and he was just pressing his luck. He was lucky enough to cut it to a 2 goal lead. That's a lead that possible to overcome by playing regular hockey. Pulling the goalie just gives the other team too much of a chance to push it back to a 3 goal game and put it completely out of reach. But, OTOH, no guts, no glory. It's not like he threw the game by pulling the goalie the second time. The outcome of the game was 98% certain either way. Might as well be bold...
1/7/2009 8:09:03 AM
that's weird, cause the kaiton's corner question regarded pulling the goalie and what the % of times the team with an extra attacker actually scoresit was 10-12%

1/7/2009 9:33:31 AM

He was our NHLPA rep, so I have no doubt that he'll be an excellent agent. Thanks for the memories and happy trails to the Sultan of Shorties, the Mayor of Toe Drag City, and an all-around Good Guy, Kevyn Adams.
1/7/2009 12:03:09 PM
Now I have a question. The Devils iced the puck with Clemmenson pulled, how could they put him back in the net if you're not allowed line changes? I personally don't think there should be an exception in the last minute of the game to being allowed to put the goalie back in if you ice it, but that's just my feeling. And I'd feel the same way if the Hurricanes did it as I think if you pull the goalie and ice it (twice in the Devils case) then you should be punished for it.I also loved the Sutter pulling the goalie in the middle of the third on the power play, I thought it was brilliant.
1/7/2009 1:51:10 PM
It is in the rules that you are allowed to put your goaltender back in after an icing.
1/7/2009 2:20:36 PM
It comes down to the fact that goaltenders have a completely separate set of rules.
