there you go, there's some inflated stats to defend Rivers with..
1/11/2009 7:52:19 PM
that dood is fast
1/11/2009 7:52:23 PM
God damn defensethis is what happens when you let rivers have the ballinstead weddle decided to play soccer with the football and head the fucking shit
1/11/2009 7:52:34 PM
Turner > LT
1/11/2009 7:52:38 PM
yup, very fast
1/11/2009 7:52:41 PM
oh and norv's playcalling has been shittastic at bestWhy on earth were they trying to have sproles run through the tackles just about everytime sproles ran.norv
1/11/2009 7:53:53 PM
you think San Diego wishes they had franchised Turner for this season?
1/11/2009 7:53:58 PM
they franchised him last year I thoughtso they couldnt do it again this year[Edited on January 11, 2009 at 7:54 PM. Reason : could be mistaken though]
1/11/2009 7:54:29 PM
at least turners balls didn't fall off in the playoffs, LT is a fucking failure anyway you look at it for his bruised balls not playing in the playoffs.
1/11/2009 7:57:11 PM
1/11/2009 7:57:44 PM
it is crazy how he has rarely played in the playoffsGG chargers solid game for priv
1/11/2009 7:58:14 PM
Biggest rivers fuckup was not hitting that deep ball to VJ in the first half. Have to make that play in a big game. But the defense that has been shitty all year is what killed them. coudlnt stop shit on 3rd down and got gashed in running game.[Edited on January 11, 2009 at 7:59 PM. Reason : /]
1/11/2009 7:58:53 PM
^^^ oh I agree... in fact, they are pretty similar to Peyton's stats except one more TD and one more INT and more sacks and since everyone but me said Peyton choked....[Edited on January 11, 2009 at 7:59 PM. Reason : d]
1/11/2009 7:59:17 PM
^^he was about to get crackedi thought he did a pretty good job to get it near jacksonjackson had it too.....just barely off[Edited on January 11, 2009 at 8:00 PM. Reason : ^^]
1/11/2009 7:59:45 PM
PEYTON CONSPIRACYLT has seemed like a pussy the last couple years, but his stats and accomplishments make me hesitant to think he's that fragile...I think he just has a lot of wear and tear and is past his prime
1/11/2009 8:00:51 PM
attention asshole JB, just so you know, Steelers defense is #1 in the league for this season, thanks for playing though, go jerk you little dick off to Peyton manning and his brother.
1/11/2009 8:01:16 PM
sheli choked (especially with that fucking running game)peyton, not nearly as much, but the entire colts offense choked in that game...you can't deny that. plus he was playing the ANTITHESIS of the steelers defense[Edited on January 11, 2009 at 8:02 PM. Reason : .]
1/11/2009 8:01:45 PM
^^ ah, so thats what it was...^ I dont think so much as choke as it was they just werent the better team. BEFORE the game I said that the lack of a running game by the Colts would do them in, and that's exactly what happened. [Edited on January 11, 2009 at 8:04 PM. Reason : d]
1/11/2009 8:02:16 PM
go Cardinals?
1/11/2009 8:02:48 PM
seriously, if you're trying to say PRiv stats:peyton stats::steelers d:chargers dwell then you're wayyyyy beyond me[Edited on January 11, 2009 at 8:04 PM. Reason : .]
1/11/2009 8:03:46 PM
Yeah I don't know who to pull for now.Maybe the Eagles
1/11/2009 8:04:49 PM
always an excuse... how good the defense was didnt matter back a few years when Manning "choked" to the Patriots and their badass defense, or even the Steelers a few years ago, it didnt seem to matter then but now that its convenient for your argument it does matter[Edited on January 11, 2009 at 8:06 PM. Reason : d]
1/11/2009 8:05:13 PM
Manning and Rivers are both losers this year
1/11/2009 8:08:52 PM
lol - so you pull out the the colts vs pats card and ignore the 3-9 first round record of peyton cardit's a two way street buddy boy
1/11/2009 8:08:55 PM
^ most of which occurred before they had even a serviceable defense or was agains the Pats (great defense), and the COLTS are 3-9, not Manning. If you think Manning hurts the Colts chances to win you are a fucking moronI swear you will ALWAYS take the opposite argument no matter what. They could have the identical performance against the identical team and you would find some other random thing. Do I think Rivers "choked"? no, not at all, but I also dont think Manning did. And their performances were so close that I dont think you could say one did and the other didntand I am sure you are off looking up some stats to show me a slight differenceHA! there you go[Edited on January 11, 2009 at 8:22 PM. 1/11/2009 8:11:30 PM
it's interesting what happens when you look at stats - what can i say, i'm a nerd for numberspassing defense2008 steelers: #1 - 157.9 YPGrivers: 245 yds (+88 yds or 56% above avg allowed) - not counting the "pad" at the end, right?2003 pats: #9 - 214.5 YPGmanning: 237 yds (+22 yds or 10% above avg allowed)2004 pats: #11 - 224.3 YPGmanning: 238 yds (+14 yds or 6% above avg)rushing in these losses2008 chargers: 15 yds2003 colts: 98 yds2004 colts: 46 ydsoverall defenses2008 steelers: #12003 pats: #72004 pats: #9[Edited on January 11, 2009 at 8:23 PM. Reason : .]
1/11/2009 8:21:19 PM
ok, those are too close to show any performance difference, hell, that one play where either Manning or Wayne looked the wrong way would have taken care of that. And there is a lot more than just pure yardage allowed that goes into defense, especially when you have fucking Asante Samuel, Ed Reed, etc. I would rather have a team go up against the Steelers than the Ravens when having to pass just for Ed Reed alone, more than makes up for the yardage difference[Edited on January 11, 2009 at 8:28 PM. Reason : s]
1/11/2009 8:23:39 PM
ahahaso rivers throws a 63 yd td pass and you brush it off as inflated stats for argumentsbut then it's "well if this or that happened for manning"jesus christPS - rivers' real stats were 308 yds passing (95% above average yds allowed)
1/11/2009 8:26:34 PM
in the snow
1/11/2009 8:27:21 PM
^^ if you watched both games and say "Rivers was AMAZING and Peyton totally choked" then I give up, they played very similarly and their teams werent good enough to win. It was a late TD when the defense was in prevent. Sure it counts officially, but it doesnt mean he played any better or worse than Peyton^ snow affects both teams, never used that excuse for Peyton when it snowed in NE[Edited on January 11, 2009 at 8:30 PM. Can someone please explain to me since the packpride people are nuts why they can't cheer for the Panthers because they have a shade of blue on those jerseys of theirs but yet I see P Riv sporting a powder blue (very carolina blue looking) tobog? I cheer for him every game but to cheer on his team and be a charger fan when they are the farthest team in the NFL from Raleigh is a little baffling to me. I compare that to the UNC fans who cheered on the Bulls because of Jordan.[Edited on January 12, 2009 at 3:25 AM. Reason : Thanks for responses. ]
1/12/2009 3:25:08 AM
^ that's stupid. There are a large number of panthers fans on there.a handful of people who are haters because they have a star DE who was a UNC alum means dick. I also pull for the chargers second to the panthers because of rivers. Ain't nothing wrong with it at all. Rivers is the only bright spot for NCSU athletics in the last decade. If we were contending for ACC titles in either Bball or football, i think the rivers effect would be diminished. But as it stands, he's about the only positive thing going that's anywhere near related to NCSU athletics.

1/12/2009 7:41:08 AM
1/12/2009 8:21:31 AM
Also, we have contended for the ACC title in basketball 3 times in the last decade.Unfortunately we lost all of them, but we still contended.
1/12/2009 8:59:19 AM
Rivers looked pretty good last night considering pitts defense and charges shitty defense.
1/12/2009 10:08:21 AM
If the Chargers can shore up their OLine some, get a better safety than Clinton Hart out there and hope LT returns to somewhat of his older self they should be in good shape next season. I still say they should've drafted Dajuan.
1/12/2009 10:17:44 AM
Merriman is a faggot. He injured his leg in January 08But waited until September to have it actually checked out by doctors. If he had surgery in January he would probably have been back for the postseason at least.

Tulloch? Maybe. He gets a lot of exposure on that D, and it's easy to do well with Haynesworth occupying 2-3 blockers.Lawson? I seriously doubt it.Leroy Harris could be a pro-bowler in a few years. He'll start next year.
1/12/2009 12:18:43 PM
LT thinking about retirement? Sportscenter right nowOk, just watched LT talk about it, didn't sound like a retirement speech to me.[Edited on January 12, 2009 at 6:40 PM. Reason : greenberg was like "LT Era may be done" but I didn't get that from the speech]
1/12/2009 6:39:27 PM
I'll be honest and say that I'm not sure how this works in the NFL (probably a lot different than baseball) but if the Chargers could, then they should trade LT while he has any sort of value, or do something to get rid of him at this point. He is worn out and I don't think he'll ever be a full NFL season back ever again.
1/12/2009 7:03:27 PM
They won't get much in a trade, he has a pretty big contract and every other team would have the same injury and aging concerns that SD has.Trades are fairly rare overall in the NFL, compared to the other sports. Especially trades involving "superstars"I think cutting him would be a terrible idea, at least this year. they still have enough cap space to keep him and resign sproles. Next year, when both Rivers and Merriman will need new contracts, I think they consider it.
1/12/2009 7:13:43 PM
^ except for maybe Arizona that is the one franchise where superstar running backs go to fade away.anyone have any insight/guesses as to what position the Chargers are looking at drafting with their first pick?[Edited on January 12, 2009 at 7:19 PM. Reason : .]
