There are at least four large trees ripped apart and another completely torn out of the ground along Pullen between Hillsborough and the roundabout. I saw a couple last night but had no idea how bad it was until I drove by this morning.

as a kid, i would open up my blinds all the way during a full moon or a thunderstorm so i could see how gorgeous it all was (old house with 5 windows - great view!)

it's coming! from the company meteorologist:

Quote :
"A line of thunderstorms is developing between Raleigh and Charlotte. There are some hail producers embedded in this line. The closest storm cell should pass to the north of Wake County, but another cell farther south looks to be on a path to Raleigh-Durham. This cell is moving slowly, and as long as it doesn't dissipate, we are looking at a 6 PM time frame when this cell would hit the Triangle."

UPDATE! It's getting worse!

Quote :
"A slow moving cell is currently to the southwest of Wake County and a severe thunderstorm warning has now been issued until 4:30pm. Nickel size hail and damaging winds, along with heavy rain are likely with this storm. More cells are developing behind this and a severe thunderstorm watch remains until 8pm"

NWS is retarded. Severe Tstorm warning ends at 4:30...and yet there's a huge black cloud over my head right now with thunder and lightning...maybe they should extend it?

^ where are you? that storm may not be severe. lots of lightning =/= severe.

Severe t-storm:
* wind gusts in excess of 57 miles an hour and/or
* hail with a diameter of at least 3/4 inch (the size of a penny or dime)

The warning was extended to 5:15pm for Wake County at approximately 4:28pm.
