Let's do 10 random games and allow teams to pick 2 for rivalries.
10/28/2011 1:33:21 PM
Big East to invite Boise State, Navy and Air Force for football only and SMU, Houston and Central Florida for all sports, supposedlyhttp://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/_/id/7177969/big-east-invite-six-football-according-report
11/1/2011 8:44:41 PM
ecu.... denied!
11/1/2011 8:45:19 PM
Pour ECU. So unloved. They're like the wield unliked step-child of East Coast athletics.Passed over twice for Florida teams that didn't play 1A football (or football at all) until the late 90s.And being passed over for Houston, which is the 6th most prestigious football program (might be 7th depending on your opinion of SMU) in Texas.
11/1/2011 8:55:45 PM
So when is the projeced date of the Syracuse and Pitt merger to the ACC?
11/1/2011 9:42:56 PM
2014 unless WVU's lawsuit goes well.
11/1/2011 9:48:15 PM
I found this pretty funny...if the Big East did an online invitation...http://espn.go.com/espn/page2/story/_/id/7185157/big-east-looks-keep-automatic-bcs-berth-via-expansion-out
11/3/2011 1:32:18 PM
Mizzou to SEC (finally)
11/6/2011 1:26:27 PM
I sure hope the big east changes its name or something, anyway with west virginia gone you know uconn and louisville are just begging the acc to let them in
11/7/2011 9:30:53 PM
11/7/2011 9:42:13 PM
even with BYU I have a really hard time understanding how the Big East can justify it's automatic BCS spot...**After WV, Syracuse, and Pitt leave[Edited on November 8, 2011 at 10:57 AM. Reason : *]
11/8/2011 10:56:49 AM
If they can snag BSU that's all they need to keep their automatic bid from being stripped. The problem is that renegotiation of the BCS contract comes up soon. Adding BSU and BYU will help mitigate the loss of WVU and Pitt (BYU isn't what it used to be, but the name does still carry a little weight). If Houston can keep from fading off of the map completely that'd help as well. But it'll be a really hard sell for them to keep that automatic qualifying bid. I wouldn't be surprised if Boise State looks at that and says "Right now, you need us more than we need you" and removes themselves from the discussion (to wait until the Big10 or Pac12 expand to 16).
11/8/2011 11:20:25 AM
damnit, I'm a tardI meant BSU... derpnot BYU
11/8/2011 12:23:23 PM
11/8/2011 2:55:53 PM
now that WVA is gone I don't really feel bad about raiding two more teams and finishing them off as a bcs conference (esp since they are prob already done with that), they'll just have to be that one conf thats between mid and high level anyway, only thing is 16 teams might be a little much but it might make more sense if we could create a north and south division to preserve all the rivalries
11/8/2011 3:58:30 PM
I'd like to see this happen, lose the AQ conference deal & just let the top 10 BCS standing teams go to the bowls. Though, as the article states, the ACC would not like it & probably many of you will say this is a horrible idea, but it seems a little more fair if we can't just have a damn playoff. If our champ doesn't get into the BCS top 10, then damn it, they don't deserve a BCS game spot. It would stop that bullshit like UCONN getting into a BCS game the other year when there were much more deserving teams. I would also keep all this conference realignment bs from happening so much.
11/9/2011 1:34:31 PM
^ Pretty much agreed. Conference champions should usually be fairly highly ranked anyway, unless your conference is REALLY bad. Not necessarily top 10 though. VT was 10-2 last year right? And I think they finished at #13 or thereabouts. Perhaps they should be able to pick from top 10 teams OR teams that are both 1) conference champions and 2) in the top 25.[Edited on November 9, 2011 at 1:39 PM. Reason : .]
11/9/2011 1:38:03 PM
well - add Central Florida to the NCAA investigations list...http://eye-on-college-basketball.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/26283066/33205519Big East getting a quality program there indeed...guess they still have tv sets so the Big East doesn't care.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7271078/byu-ends-negotiations-not-join-big-east-according-reportonward to east carolina san diego state?
11/22/2011 11:03:33 PM
At this point the Big East is done as a major conference.Wasn't BYU the anchor/keystone of this plan to stay an automatic qualifier and relevant in football as a conference?
11/23/2011 8:47:58 AM
San Diego State to the Big East.Just let that kinda roll off of your tongue for a bit. The Big EAST would sooner have San Diego State than ECU.If I was a Pirate fan, I'd be investing in brown paper bags.
11/23/2011 8:50:02 AM
I really hoped you were joking about SDSU. I can't fucking believe that, it seems more like one of those fake lists HOOPSMALONE was making up a few pages ago[Edited on November 23, 2011 at 10:43 AM. Reason : user tags wtf]
11/23/2011 10:42:56 AM
from the article:
11/23/2011 11:05:42 AM
oh my god.Lets fly from Connecticut to SoCal to play a fuckin volleyball game. RIIIGHT. This conference realignment shit is getting out of control.
11/23/2011 1:49:54 PM
Big East conference requirements:1) Be a school.2) Play football.3) Have a campus somewhere in the United States.
11/23/2011 1:59:28 PM
If the BCS would just get rid of AQ conference bids it would solve a lot of these realignment problems
11/23/2011 2:02:21 PM
It'd be a football only thing I'm sure
11/23/2011 2:06:39 PM
why any school would consider joining the big east at this point in time is beyond me.also, the BCS needs to step in and just let them know that they're losing their AQ no matter who they get, so that they can stop bringing new schools into a bad situation.[Edited on November 23, 2011 at 2:17 PM. Reason : .]
11/23/2011 2:16:45 PM
Big East conference requirements:1) Be a school.2) Play football.3) Have a campus somewhere in the United States.4) not be named east carolina universityyou forgot one.
11/23/2011 2:19:42 PM
Its cool, ECU is holding out for the SEC
11/23/2011 3:14:06 PM
Big East-of-Hawaii adding Boise St., Houston, SMU, Central Florida, and San Diego StateStill apparently looking to add Air Force and Navy. So, in other words, nothing that wasn't already known/suspected.I'm still kinda surprised BSU didn't hold out for an invite from the Big Twelve.
12/6/2011 9:44:19 PM
Should just rename the conference Big Clusterfuck
12/7/2011 10:37:40 AM
Big Western Hemisphere
12/7/2011 10:39:21 AM
Just steal Conference USAIt would actually make sense this time
12/7/2011 10:41:57 AM
I'd really like to see the ACC pick up Louisville and UCONN.
12/7/2011 10:53:41 AM
I could get behind plucking UCONN and Louisville as well. Both are great basketball schools and aren't TERRIBLE in football, which describes most of our conference.[Edited on December 7, 2011 at 11:37 AM. Reason : WHICH]
12/7/2011 11:36:48 AM
i heard the Big Least was trying to add Universidad Salamanca to their conference
12/7/2011 12:52:54 PM
i heard the Big Least had already claimed rights to adding any existing or future extraterrestrial universities.
12/7/2011 12:55:02 PM
Academically Louisville doesn't stack up in the ACC. UConn does but they don't add enough football wise to make them attractive. It was just a complete and utter fuck up to add BC instead of UConn originally but that's Swofford being Swofford..
12/7/2011 1:11:15 PM
I don't know who's left out there that would add to things on the football side that also meets our academic standards.UConn and Rutgers make the most sense, whether you hate NJ or not. There's not a single school other than them with our standards east of the Mississippi that might be tempted to jump to us, except Army or Navy for football only. I'd rather get to 16 so we can split North-South and recreate the closest thing we'll get to the original ACC.
12/7/2011 2:25:49 PM
12/7/2011 2:31:02 PM
EveryoneThere are no football schools leftUnless you want to raid the NFL
12/7/2011 2:33:01 PM
^^ UConn would be pretty par for the course in the middle of the ACC. Maybe slightly on the lower side of the middle. Kinda like Wake.So I guess that adds SOMETHING.It's just not like adding an At-Large level program.[Edited on December 7, 2011 at 2:46 PM. Reason : .]
12/7/2011 2:45:47 PM
I don't like adding schools just to add them. Whats wrong with 14? How is 16 so much better? I say only add schools if they would really upgrade prestige of the conference, and besides Notre Dame, there's not really anyone out there that would really make much of a difference.
12/7/2011 2:48:55 PM
Agree. Stay at 14 until Uconn convinces someone notable to join with them jumping ship.
12/7/2011 2:51:58 PM
^,^^ I believe that the TV contract is written so that if expansion happens they get to void the current deal and renegotiate a new one.[Edited on December 7, 2011 at 2:55 PM. Reason : .]
12/7/2011 2:53:53 PM
^^^ Well it would be adding a basketball power and we sorta still known as a basketball conference, although the ACC has sucked at it this year.Anything to break the Duke/UNC stranglehold on the ACC right?Ok, maybe not ANYTHING, and there's no guarantee that UConn's bball program will survive after Calhoun leaves (but that's true for Syracuse and Duke as well).Eh, maybe I'm just biased towards them because huskies are nice doggies. LET'S ADD THE UNIVERSITY OF SASKATCHEWAN!!!!/It's make almost as much sense as San Diego State in the Big East.[Edited on December 7, 2011 at 2:56 PM. Reason : /]
