hopefully it'll start Tuesday night B-)

Charlotte news is stating it will start raining around here tonight, turn over to snow around midnight and remain snow. 4-8 inches with totals being higher in the southern counties. Still alot can change. I'm pessimistic when it comes to winter storms cuz they never seem to pan out around here, so I'm betting we get a ton of rain with an inch or two of snow.
2/10/2014 6:39:34 AM
Lol. WRAL future cast is perfect. It sums up Raleigh winters better than I ever could. Snow creeps up Tues right tot the Wake county line from the south, never crosses and then retreats. And no precip after that comes close.I did find it odd they didn't even mention ANY precip in Wake though.[Edited on February 10, 2014 at 7:09 AM. Reason : I do think cold rain is the most likely fwiw]

Double[Edited on February 10, 2014 at 7:04 AM. Reason : x]
Raleigh is gonna get rain for 2 straight days while Greensboro breaks their all time snow fall totals.

Loving the approach here guys. If we all talk shit about it not snowing, then when it doesn't snow we get to all chuckle and say we "knew it" and point at the Raleigh shield. If we talk about it not snowing and it does snow, then we get to say "fuck yeeeeah, snooooow".Yeah NC State fans know how to approach this shit.Everyone just cross your fingers it trends Eastward between now and the time it starts. East of us got hit good last time, this time West of us is going to get pummeled. Yeeeeah shield, haha.

Believe in the shield
2/10/2014 8:19:39 AM
^^^ that's not true. I barely got an inch in Cary. Downtown east got a lot more but RDU seems to get the shaft quite often.[Edited on February 10, 2014 at 8:34 AM. Reason : RDU screwed ]

Wake county is nearly always on whatever line is drawn with these storms. This time we are gonna be just a tad too far east. Last time we were too far west. We will get some wintry precip and in the end it could be worse than last time just due to more ice being involved than snow. Much rather have all snow than ice covered snow or snow covered ice.
2/10/2014 8:36:42 AM
I've always wondered if it was just coincidence or if there is a geological reason. It almost always is either a temp or precip gradient.
2/10/2014 8:41:55 AM
I think a lot has to do with geography. These systems typically track either further south and east or further north and west. Its karma for being in that sweet spot where you can get to the beach or mountains within a few hours. Takes a more rare setup for the good Raleigh snow dump.

Seen >50% probabilities for parts of SC to get over an inch of ice. That is a major problem.

Flurries by PNC Arena
2/10/2014 11:46:32 AM
Every time I see a status about snow, I feel like a meerkat or prairie dog suddenly at attention to see the window. My newsfeed is as useful as a radar though... the people near Greensboro said something about snow a while ago, then the people in Chapel Hill, then the people in RTP, then the people in north Raleigh. There is now snow in downtown Raleigh.
2/10/2014 11:46:43 AM
Not seeing any snow outside my window downtown...

I just looked at this thread and saw that it was snowing... had to find a window and check, and it is! Nice.Any news of it sticking? Or is this just a flurry?
2/10/2014 12:07:53 PM
coming down at a decent clip here by Duke.I don't think anything is supposed to stick today, probably too warm on the ground...but it'll dampen things up nicely!
2/10/2014 12:10:44 PM
oh boy i see snow[Edited on February 10, 2014 at 12:17 PM. Reason : i also went to facebook to confirm that what i saw is snow. and saw plenty of snow posts]
2/10/2014 12:15:36 PM
I think it stopped here in central Cary.
2/10/2014 12:22:33 PM
Been going about an hour off blue ridge
2/10/2014 12:25:48 PM
Ok its "snowing" at state but its like barely at all and its not sticking. So basically I was getting all excited and now I'm very disappoint
2/10/2014 12:26:37 PM
it's not even supposed to stick until tomorrow and/or wednesday
2/10/2014 12:32:23 PM
Raleigh is fucked if Huffmans map holds true. 3-5 inches with .5-.75" of ice in between.
2/10/2014 12:35:09 PM
its been snowing for almost 2 hrs in the RTP area
2/10/2014 12:43:45 PM
its going to be disappointing for anyone checking the thread
