^ wow almost none of my HD DVDs have any ads on them at all except the "Welcome to HD DVD" intro that's like 15 seconds long.
1/9/2008 9:35:49 PM
I have 12 blu rays, none of them have adds.
1/9/2008 9:53:07 PM
Well i don't know if you consider trailers ads but i never said ads. They are all blu ray trailers for various movies. To me an ad would be for coke or some shit.out of the blu ray movies i have pretty much the majority have a shit ton of trailers on them.and these aren't like the "everything you knew about DVD just got a whole lot better..." trailers either.[Edited on January 9, 2008 at 10:04 PM. I'm with El Nacho on this:

Uh, I've had Blu-ray's with trailers before, but the real question is why are you watching them? Just hit the skip scene button on the remote until you get to the menu.

picked up The Rock for $19.95 at Best Buy and 3:10 to Yuma for $24.95 at Target. Watched both last night both are awesome. You have to get Best Buy to price match to Targets website. Also if you get 3:10 from Best Buy get them to price match to Target as well and use your reward zone points.

^^^You know what's great technology? The whole being able to connect to the internet and download additional content for movies. It's a good thing Sony got to that technology first otherwise they'd be in real troub--HMMMMM

So apparently some Japanese guy got Transformers converted to Blu-Ray and playing on the PS3. Including all the menus and extra features. The only thing that doesn't work is the subtitles. http://pocketnews.cocolog-nifty.com/pkns/2008/01/hd_dvdps3_3fd3.html]

which PS3 do i want for bluray? whats the diff? can the 40gig do everythng bluray'wise? what about otherwise?i might return my hddvdplayer since i got it only a few weeks ago and get a PS3. i have a 12% off coupon too. hrmm.
1/10/2008 12:45:19 PM
If you want to play PS2 games, get the 80gig. If not, get the 40gig. The Blu-ray functionality is identical between the two.
1/10/2008 12:49:55 PM
the 40gb doesn't play PS2 games.

i wondering if it's still possible to return my HDA1 that i bought before thanksgiving
1/10/2008 1:20:49 PM
^ if you have all the packaging...go for it...say you don't have your receipt, and get store credit...also, rather than saying you don't want it or making it clear that you're up on the HDM scene, say it doesn't work with your TV or something so that there's no restocking feefailing that, go buy another one and return the old (open) one on that receipt a day later with the same excuse (it'll be a bit more believable)...then, return the unopened one for store credit saying you paid cash (they'll take it back with minimal fuss if it's unopened)

^^funny, Toshiba just released a statement today saying something like "we haven't heard a single report of new adopters returning their hardware".Maybe someone should point them to TWW.
1/10/2008 2:34:01 PM
^ link? and besides, your quote makes it sound like there were rumblings of faulty hardware or dissatisfaction in the media, which isn't even remotely true...but who wouldn't want to put their ~$200 towards what is obviously the prevailing format if they're going to be an early adopter in the first place?what an ass.

sonofabitch.I called up BestBuy to see if i could return something w/o the UPC since i sent it off for the rebate because i was pretty doubtful. Jennifer there says its "A-OK". triple checked.I get there and find out Jennifer is a dumbass.I tried to pawn it off at CC, too, but they wouldnt have it either.
1/10/2008 3:11:52 PM
you used to be able to...it would cancel your rebate processing.
1/10/2008 3:18:11 PM
Yeh, i asked if they could just cancel the rebate and they said nope.
1/10/2008 3:22:36 PM

YesI'm sure the throngs of people with BD Profile 1.1 players are crying in out rage at their inability to have PIP on DVD and take part in online trivia. The horror. All 5 that bought stand alone Blu Ray players.
1/11/2008 12:08:16 AM
i still think hd will win they have cheaper players and 90% of blue ray players are ps3s. all you assholes saying hd is dead shouldn't be happy unless u want to pay $400+ for hd if hd disappears then bluray prices will stay high. oh yeah and universal still believes in hdhttp://www.engadget.com/2008/01/10/universal-current-plan-is-to-continue-to-support-the-hd-dvd-fo/
1/11/2008 12:38:42 AM
^^In this case, my issue isn't the fact that they released players that are now going to be lacking functionality. Even though, god knows, that if anyone wanted that functionality it'd be those same early adopters. It's more that they knowingly and willingly fucked over their consumers and are now taking the attitude "LOL SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER THAN TO BUY OUR PRODUCT" to anyone that doesn't want a gaming console as their main DVD player.[Edited on January 11, 2008 at 12:52 AM. Reason : .]
1/11/2008 12:48:52 AM
All bd early adopters are going to be offered a $100 gift certificate for any sony products.
1/11/2008 1:23:36 AM
Dude seriouslyStop being such a whiner.Companies fuck consumers over. STOP THE PRESSES. THATS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE.Signed,GMFordAppleMicrosoftetc etc.If you were retarded enough to buy a stand alone blu ray player @400$ or more then it goes without saying that you trolled yourself.
1/11/2008 2:48:21 AM
or had excess money to spend and just wanted to brag to your neighbors.
1/11/2008 6:36:35 AM
I enjoy my betamax player and movies.
1/11/2008 9:44:42 AM
Early adopters always get a bad deal. It's the nature of the beast. And what about those HD DVD players that don't support three layers? What happens when they release the new spec and those those old players can play it? Surely they're equally fucked.
