^^^ Defense will be fine. Not great, but good enough, especially when Merriman comes back. The Saints offense is just that good.Chargers are looking at a 12-4 or 13-3 record this year. Hopefully they actually do something in the playoffs this time around.

"have you ever seen rivers scramble"
10/26/2010 6:01:04 PM
From Peter King's MVP Watch:
11/8/2010 8:42:19 AM
Rivers is having an amazing season, but somehow he'll still get snubbed for the Pro Bowl this year as Manning, Brady, and Dirty Sanchez will all get selected.
11/8/2010 8:52:08 AM
King loves him some Rivers and Chargers. They've got a great chance at getting back atop the AFC West in the next month. Playing all three of their conference teams and most of those games at home. Hopefully getting back a healthy Gates and Jackson (will be interesting to see how Jackson plays).State fans could use a little success in some form.
11/8/2010 8:55:25 AM
^im sitting happy at 6-3 right now. but yes i would like to see an 11 game winning streak
11/8/2010 10:12:31 PM
I, too, would like to see some W's consistently put up by the chargers. And I wouldn't say I am disappointed with the pack as much as I am disappointed with the packs lackluster doppleganger that likes to show up and make us look like fools..

The assclowns on 99.9 the fan (Joe Ovies and Adam Gold) were basically blowing Michael Vick yesterday on the air. It was driving me insane. First they said that he should be NFL MVP (over Payton Manning who has done far more with less). Then the fucknuts actually said that he was a more talented QB than PRiv. I about lost my shit driving home.
11/11/2010 3:31:16 PM
Did they say talented or athletic?I would agree that Vick is more athletic.

11/13/2010 9:58:19 AM
^^ Right after Vick.
11/15/2010 9:23:30 PM
The way things are going, Vick might pass Rivers in passing yards TONIGHT.

1/21/2011 4:12:23 PM
I actually thought he (Tebow) was going to be #1 - fundamentalist christians don't spend money on booze, sex, gambling, fun, etc. thus they have tons of liquidity to throw at their circumcising savior. i mean have you seen how much cash televangelists pull in? tebow allows them to throw that same cash away AND sleep in on sunday[Edited on January 21, 2011 at 4:57 PM. Aaron Rodgers and Big Ben are probably now permanently ahead of Rivers in "best QBs currently in the NFL" conversation.Ben is now in his 3rd Super Bowl and writers have been patiently waiting for Rodgers to do something in the playoffs to validate him...they've been sucking him off during the pre-season/regular season for the past couple years already.Rivers has to do something in the playoffs soon (fuck...at least get back to the playoffs).
1/24/2011 8:02:17 AM
yes, I'm sure every writer thinks roflberger is a much better QB than Rivers. they certainly don't recognize the fact that he's a serviceable QB who is surrounded by a dominant defense and an offensive line that allows them to be a run-first team.eli manning won a super bowl for fuck's sake. rex fucking grossman made it to a super bowl.
1/24/2011 9:16:12 AM
Rivers does need to do something in the playoffs. Sucks that something shitty and out of his control seems to happen each season to derail his chances (Merriman hurt, LT hurt, horrible ST, etc). That pick he threw a couple seasons ago was all on him though. Is Rivers starting for the AFC this weekend or is Manning? Or did both of them fake an injury like most seasons.
1/24/2011 9:42:33 AM
Aaron Rodgers and Big Ben are probably now permanently ahead for the rest of the offseason and a few weeks into next season of Rivers in "best QBs currently in the NFL" conversation.
1/24/2011 10:15:08 AM
Yeah..."permanently" was probably the incorrect word. If Rivers can get that first Super Bowl under his belt, he'll be fine. And I'm not the biggest Big Ben fan...but he steps up when he needs to. Those two third down throws in that last drive were huge. He had a shitty game statistically, but he still wins games. Rivers needs to get to a Super Bowl.
1/24/2011 10:21:47 AM
Most of the analysts still realize that Rivers is a better QB better than Ben, whether he wins this year or not.Now Rodgers, I'm not even sure myself. I've been predicting Rivers and Rodgers would be the next generation's Brady and Manning and competing for MVP's since Rodgers' first season starting. There's a difference between "greater" and "better." Terry Bradshaw is "greater" than Dan Marino, hell he's probably greater than Peyton Manning (unless manning wins another/breaks all of Favres records), but he wasn't really that good.[Edited on January 24, 2011 at 10:31 AM. Reason : first season starting, he sat 2 years like Rivers]
1/24/2011 10:30:47 AM
Ben had a 35.5 QB rating yesterday. That game was ugly for him. I think if you switch out Rivers and Big Ben, Rivers could do just as well, probably better than Ben, in Pittsburgh.[Edited on January 24, 2011 at 11:03 AM. Reason : .]
1/24/2011 11:02:06 AM
Sucks that Rivers is stuck in such a shitty franchise.
1/24/2011 11:12:38 AM
Rivers has had his chances. That 2006 team should've won it all, and last years team was no slouch, either. He'll get his due props when he gets a ring, but for now he's just putting up crazy stats which will ensure that he's in the record books. 3 straight seasons of 100+ passer rating is nothing to sneeze about. The Chargers will bounce back next year, or the following. When they move to LA in 2012, they will spend big money in free-agency necessary to ensure that they make a big splash in their new home[Edited on January 24, 2011 at 11:27 AM. Reason : 2]
1/24/2011 11:26:29 AM
I used to have a list of 10 stupid things they did vs. the pats in that 2006 game, where if they hadn't done even one of those things they would have won them.Don't know where it is now, but it included things like knocking down Brady's 4th down throw instead of intercepting (and then fumbling) it.[Edited on January 24, 2011 at 11:33 AM. Rivers didn't play a great game that year I don't think, but he did easily enough to win and LT was having the best RB season in recent memoryFound the article, it's actually gone now but someone pasted it on a broncos message board.
