It's carrying a robotic dog. Its supposed to help with astronaut morale and mental stability.

Sounds like it could be trouble if there's a mentally unstable pill-head on a future mission. But for serious, I'm hoping to be significantly involved with manufacture of the fabrics for flame retardant shirts and pants for Astronauts for high-oxygen environments during manned Artemis missions. I too want to make something that goes to the moon! No repeats of Apollo 1, please. So far NASA has been very slow to work with.

I sincerely doubt that

NASA is the new Tesla. Overpromise and don't deliver. Trust that people will have forgotten your previously-stated timelines.
11/20/2022 11:14:02 AM
Not that there’s anything wrong with that

I don't really understand the organizational structure. I think it's JSC by way of Jacobs Engineering JETS Contract. I've had several interactions with people from different units, I guess. They all have @nasa.gov email addresses, but it's sort of like they all work for different companies.

I refuse to believe the Coz has a real job

He doesn’t work for money, money works for him.Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

^^You're just mad you can't make Ed Baldwin's space underwear.NTTAWWT]
11/29/2022 7:08:17 AM
Its def not MSFC if it is under the JETS contract, so I can at least wipe my hands clean of your grievances.
11/29/2022 11:18:47 AM
It's less of a grievance and more of an observation (with some surprise, given the publicly communicated timelines for manned missions), but in any case I'm glad you are in the clear!
11/29/2022 12:13:26 PM
Those publicly stated timelines make me laugh
11/29/2022 3:47:11 PM
We have their timelines documented in this thread.
11/29/2022 5:09:43 PM
Mostly for selfish NC State bragpoint reasons, I simply want Christina Koch to be first woman on the moon and safely make it back.
11/30/2022 2:39:02 PM
^Would be awesome. We'd probably have a statue of her on campus. EBIII (current aerospace building) would prob be renamed after her.
11/30/2022 4:43:33 PM
Sorry, marko, but that honor already belongs to Soviet cosmonaut Anastasia Belikova whose look beckons us into the cosmos.]
11/30/2022 6:17:19 PM
I'm honestly surprised State hasn't named anything after her yet
11/30/2022 8:15:18 PM
Is she the first astronaut that has graduated from NCSU?
12/1/2022 10:19:50 AM
As far as I know, yes.
12/1/2022 3:18:15 PM
Monument now has bbehe approval. Get it done, folks who do things!
12/2/2022 7:27:35 PM
Oh, we back (from the moon)!
12/11/2022 1:12:06 PM
Picture perfect mission (aside from delays) from launch to splashdown!
12/14/2022 11:30:53 AM
GG, NASA!
12/14/2022 11:52:36 AM
But Helios did it better, BTW.
12/14/2022 6:15:44 PM
Except for the part when their junky destroyed a robot dog and killed a bunch of people. Entertainment section leaking into The Lounge!
12/15/2022 1:01:34 PM
Yeah, but they killed a bunch of people in style. I'm intentionally blurring the lines and attempting to confuse the people who don't share my entertainment preferences.
12/15/2022 4:25:41 PM
NC State's Christina Koch selected as part of Artemis II.Guess this means she won't get a lunar landing mission?
4/3/2023 1:34:29 PM
Prob not but its still pretty fucking cool!
4/3/2023 3:15:16 PM
Probably won't get Artemis III landing, but possibly future ones. It would be a huge waste of talent and experience to not give her one.
4/3/2023 4:42:15 PM
Will see still even be an astronaut by Artemis III

^Koch is her married name. She was Christina Hammock when she attended NCSU. So she's prob just christina
4/7/2023 10:33:46 AM
christinak was too close not to post.Major = Zoology is why I didn't go with yours.
4/7/2023 11:16:37 AM
She was clearly joking about that when she put that in her profile to throw off future profile seekers. You gotta be smart like that if you're gonna be an astronaut.
4/7/2023 12:33:28 PM
Oh, damn. That's why I never had a chance. But I did pretty good in Solid Mechanics with Hamid Davoodi.

I know. We had that class together as previously confirmed by School Tool, and also because there weren't too many British folks in Aerospace Engineering at NCSU. I think we might have also had FORTRAN together, or you were a lab TA, or both. How much Fortran do you use at NASA? I liked it.
4/12/2023 5:16:18 PM
^I was a Fortran TA for 6 semesters actually, so you may have been in one of my sections. I actually used to use it all the time when I first started at NASA, in fact that was one of the reasons I was originally hired because most people weren't familiar with it (Thanks NCSU!). Lots of old legacy code from the space shuttle days was written in Fortran and they needed people that could easily navigate it to pull out chunks that were still applicable and convert them to more modern languages. Haven't really used it in a few years though, although that's because I'm in a completely different position nowadays and I don't really need a legit programming language when things like MATLAB will do.
4/13/2023 10:23:10 AM
I think they've stopped teaching fortran, at least at the introductory levelcsc112not available for registration and isn't on ncsu gradient after 2016
4/13/2023 1:56:30 PM
^Yep. Aero engineers learn MATLAB now. I'm surprised they were teaching us fortran when I graduated 16 years ago lol. I guess it is a good intro language at least.
