a second or two at the bottom of a frame and the end of a scene well after she finished the wine, not obviousi've watched it extra times and i had to look for it, even when it glowed it almost looked like it was just flashing in the light. hell, the first time i watched i didnt even know she had on a necklace.i'm not knocking the show b/c i dont expect them to treat the viewers like children and say HEY PAY ATTN TO THIS BRIGHT THING, but if you didnt know to look for that it was NOT obvious.i'm no attention to detail tv genius, but i dont think i'm a complete idiot on these matters.[Edited on April 3, 2012 at 11:41 PM. Reason : she DEF didnt say "fire burns away the poison" or alude to a dragon, so thx for spoilers?]
4/3/2012 11:41:08 PM
no spoilers, ive not read anything but the first book. They are on dragonstoneShe has bright red hairShe is orator at a huge bonfire that is burning the Gods of the ruling powers. All of the gems are very dark red to black and as she is talking one, only one, goes from that to a very bright red over multiple seconds...As she says "the night is dark and full of terror but the fire burns them all away"They didn't draw arrows or zoom the camera into it but it was very obvious there was a reaction going on.But yes, I am inferring, through no knowledge beyond this episode or the first book/season that she is a Targeryean(sp?). Hey, could be wrong. I'm just saying the glowing was meant to be seen and wasn't hard to notice.[Edited on April 4, 2012 at 12:12 AM. Reason : *]

I thought the glow was obvious. --- well wait, i noticed the glowing stone (on her necklace) when she drank the poisoned wine, not while she was speaking. Are you saying it -- or another stone-- was glowing when she was giving her monologue at the beach? But she keeps talking about the God of Light. So maybe the glowing light of the stone has something to do with that, and not dragons.I could see either way i guess.[Edited on April 4, 2012 at 12:34 AM. Reason : necklace or speech]
4/4/2012 12:33:01 AM
^ no, just while she was talking to the dead maester
4/4/2012 1:01:45 AM
The stone definitely glowed. I had no trouble noticing it.

****Quasi Spoiler*****The end of the scene in the brothel was pretty disturbing in a way that never would have bothered me before I had a kid. It really cut my taste for a show I'd been looking forward to since the end of last season. ********************[Edited on April 4, 2012 at 9:59 PM. Reason : Hope that satisfies spoiler etiquette]
4/4/2012 9:59:26 PM
how did it cut your taste for the show?Sure, be pissed at those responsible but I don't understand not liking the story for it.The same thing happened last season with Lady getting killed. Several uber dog lovers on facebook and twitter were campaigning to boycott the show because they killed a dog CHARACTER. I love kids and dogs and I still don't understand. To each their own though.[Edited on April 4, 2012 at 10:22 PM. Reason : ]

For a character to be a bad guy he has to do bad things, and Joffrey is comically evil.Joffrey's baby killing is basically the Million Dollar Man kicking the basketball away from the kid on the 9th bounce.
4/4/2012 11:49:40 PM
Not to mention culling of competing offspring is not something new or unique to humans.

4/5/2012 12:06:57 AM
It made me cringe, but that's the point. Joffrey and the Lanisters are that screwed up... they do things that make people with any moral decency cringe. This is a show that has shown severed heads... on pikesa tongue being cut out of a guy's mouth in the king's courtthe fight at the imp's trial was very graphicA horse's head being cut offAnd so onI'm not going to argue with how it made you feel. But if you really feel the way you say you do, it may be time to cancel the HBO subscription. I'm not being sarcastic or anything, just saying there's no point in watching stuff that makes you feel that way and this isn't out of line with anything from season 1 imo.The slaughtering of the bastards made sense within the context of the storyline, and it wasn't very graphic within respect to the show.[Edited on April 5, 2012 at 12:12 AM. Im pretty sure Robert wanted the baby of Denarys dead in season 1. Its not just a Lannister/evil thing. Its just how it works.

good point, i forgot about that.

So much bitching from pussy GoT fans. Can't wait to see the raging down the line with some other stuff. The rw alone will be hilarious.

GoT is the real deal folks. You haven't seen anything yet.

Watched the first two episodes (Season 1) this week. Love it. Gotta get the lady on board though. I can slip in 30 minute episodes of shows I like, but these are long and I'm getting them via Netflix. I also love Lena Headey. I hope her character isn't killed off anytime soon (I can't imagine her not making it through the first season...hopefully she at least gets through the second).
4/6/2012 5:12:36 PM

They have quite a challenge with all of lord of the light shit. Watching religion on TV is almost always painful. That's why BSG started to stuck at the end.Limit or eliminate all footage showing people being religious, and they will do well.
4/8/2012 9:01:15 PM
It's fantasy. There are 5 religions expressed so far in the show. If people watched this until now, they aren't going to stop because of Melisandre and her creed.
4/8/2012 10:10:55 PM
I like her a lot better now that I've seen her tits and ass.

^^^ I don't make the rules. The GoT religious element has been minor until the lord of the light stuff. BSG lost ratings because it got too religiousPeople will leave a show if the writers abuse their audience. HBO has cancelled tons of good shows.^^ yup[Edited on April 8, 2012 at 10:38 PM. Reason : .]
4/8/2012 10:38:22 PM
Here we go with skokiaan talking out of his ass again. I'm sure HBO is about to cancel Game of Thrones because he doesn't like the lord of light stuff, even though the ratings are the highest they've ever been Keep talking that bullshit when they renew it for 2 more seasons tomorrow.
4/9/2012 12:48:16 AM
I personally think the religions are well done and fairly interesting in ASOIAF and that is definitely not always the case with me.
4/9/2012 7:50:57 AM
I too wonder how high the ratings will stay when this devolves into high fantasy instead of realistic feudal warfare that season one was.
4/9/2012 9:05:52 AM
It's really not high fantasy. Ever. It increases slightly, but I don't see the ratings dropping at all. Everyone will be too hooked. Anyone who stayed after Dany hatched dragons and then fed them her breast milk shouldn't be blown away by anything else.Also...this.
4/9/2012 9:17:00 AM
I wanted Starbuck as Asha.
4/9/2012 9:22:43 AM
^^^ so far, this series has not really come close to high fantasy. Also, most of the religions of this world are fruitless, yet cause wars and slaughter anyway. How is that much different than our real world?
4/9/2012 9:31:41 AM
Although I kind of picture Asha/Yara to look like the two pictures on the right up there I can understand why they didn't make her too hot in the show.
4/9/2012 10:12:55 AM
that awkward moment when you diddle your sister on a horse

Just finished reading ACoK.Awesome.
4/9/2012 5:45:39 PM
So, surely I'm not the only one that hasn't read the books right? And thus, was confused as fuck for almost the entire duration of this past episode. I haven't really had too hard of a time keeping up with things until now, but this last episode seemed to be all over the place. Even after reading Sepinwall's review, I'm still fairly clueless about half of the stuff that happened. I guess that's what 2nd viewings are for.
4/9/2012 6:23:12 PM
^I havent read the books and can totally understand. Character overload, honestly I watch the show on dvr a few hours after its aired so wikipedia can put up a summary and I just watch it with wikipedia open. I haven't read any of the books and I didn't think it was that confusing. Which parts in particular?
4/9/2012 7:27:15 PM
The narrative style of the books are so great I'd almost say reading the books is a must before watching the TV show. You miss out on a lot if you don't read them.
